Had a minor issue with the fascia loosening on my guest house about a year after the construction was completed. I called Westin on May 20 to let him know about the problem. BEWARE. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We hired them to add-on to our house 7 years ago. 1) They demanded $10,000 above our signed $150,000 contracted amount when the project was finished. 2) Water pipes freeze at least once every winter. They came and "fixed" the issue the first time then "1 year warranty" was not valid after that & is our problem. 3) Obvious floor depression in one area of the laminate wood floor. 4) Tile grout came out in an area of a bathroom floor. 5) One section of siding comes off during heavy wind. read more

We hired Marx Construction for a complete remodel of a home we recently purchased in Bentonville and the transformation has been outstanding. This was a major whole home project that included a new roof, new plumbing, an updated electrical service panel, and a complete interior renovation. The kitchen, bathrooms, lighting, finishes, and many other features throughout the home were replaced or upgraded. The finished house feels completely renewed. In addition to remodeling the home, Marx Construction built a detached six-car garage next to the existing attached two-car garage. It gives us all the space we need for a workshop, vehicles, and recreational toys and it fits beautifully next to the home. A special shoutout goes to Jerry, the company pool and spa specialist for the incredible pool remodel. They installed all-new equipment and added waterfalls, lighting that changes colors, smooth coping and the ultra-smooth PebbleSheen pool finish is especially comfortable on our kids feet. The Mediterranean inspired color gives the water a beautiful inviting look that complements the rest of the property perfectly. The estimate was very accurate for the original scope of work. We made several changes during construction, and Marx Construction clearly documented them through change orders. Even with our added requests and revisions, the team remained flexible, were accommodating, and easy to work with. Before choosing a contractor, I reviewed four other companies. Marx Construction stood out because they were the only one that offered to personally take me to both active and completed construction projects, Instead of relying solely on photographs or a slideshow, they gave me the opportunity to see the quality of their craftsmanship firsthand. That level of transparency gave me confidence in hiring them and the completed project proved that confidence was well placed. Read I hired Mark Valdez to do a total house remodel in 2023. Here I am in 2026, 3 years later, still dealing with Marx construction. When Mark promised me completion in 3 months. If my experience can save someone from the same nightmare I experienced, please let that be you. When I hired Mark, I expressed my expectations of high quality craftsmanship, time, budget, as this is an Airbnb that earns me income. He said his crew could do the whole remodel in 3 months. I gave him the $80,000 deposit, and he left the country for his retirement home overseas not to be seen or heard from for 10 months! He left my job in the hands of novices and did not respond to my emails, texts or calls. It took months for demolition to begin. After the interrior was demolished, it sat there in ruins for months. They said they needed more money to continue, that the money I'd given them was already spent on future supplies. The supplies his crews used were of the cheapest, lowest quality and craftsmanship was terrible! They literally rebuilt my kitchen 3 times before getting it done. The job went 9 months over time and thousands over budget, because everything needed to be re-done again and again. One year and $260,000.00 later, the remodel still wasn't done, plus I'd lost 12 months of Airbnb bookings. Despite me literally begging them to finish the job, weeks would lapse where not one person would work on the house. After 10 months, Mark showed up and reprimanded the people he left in charge of my job. I hoped he would make right on his promises, and finish the job fast, but he did not. Out of desperation and exhaustion from having to go back to work full time, to pay the construction loan plus 2 mortgages, I reopened the Airbnb and requested they complete construction around my bookings. Yet, the house was never complete. For peace of mind, I hired a home inspector who provided a long list of items that were not done to code and areas where his crew had actually caused more damage than repair. I emailed Mark and gave him the list. His crews returned to address some issues, but not all. I recently hired another home inspector and learned that the issues they said they fixed, were not fixed. After trying to part ways, Mark insisted I still owed him $11K and threatened to put a lien on my home and take me to court, so I paid him in full just to be rid of him. He refuses to honor the 1 year warrantee and refuses to reimburse me so I can hire a competent contractor to finish the work correctly. 3 years later, I am still left with a home that is so unsafe I cannot even sell it because of the cracked foundation, overloaded electrical circuits, a fireplace that isn't code, cracks in the drywall, moving a weight bearing post, and caulking/tile work that is cracked and needs to be redone. Mark Valdez is a great salesman but his promises are empty. He has no integrity whatsoever and would rather "win" and "be right" than see his customers satisfied. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. read more

We would like to thank Mark of Marx Construction for the many hours of planning with very helpful 3D designs and line item cost analysis. We have 5 projects planned. The first only has to do with our Master Bathroom. Our house is brand new. It lacked adequate ADA bathing and showering facilities. Because of my disabilities I needed a shower that I could use a wheelchair in and a shower that I could sit on a bench to shower with special Delta equipment. Weston the project manager was able to accomplish these goals completely. The Marx team is very respectful and efficient. Of the 9 companies that bid for our business Marx Construction is the only company that gave us a reasonable in writing bid. read more

In February of 2019, my family and I started looking into information about building an add-on to our house that was roughly 700-900square feet. I contacted 4 companies and Marx construction was the only one to call us back within a timely fashion and actually provide us an idea of whether or not our budget was appropriate for what we wanted. (He didn't just schedule a meeting for someone to come out later..he was willing to answer my questions from the first phone call). Until that phone call we weren't sure if our project was even doable! Due to us already having financing and Marx Construction having a lull in their schedule... we got started within DAYS! It was amazing to start so soon seeing as how you'd wait weeks for even a phone call from some of the other local companies! During the entire process I worked one-on-one with the owner of the company, Mark Valdez. He walked me through building the blueprint on an awesome program online.. all the way to the finish line where we walked through at completion. If you're willing to answer the phone... he will call you weekly (and sometimes daily) with updates on who is coming next, what's completed and what's coming up. He is great at what he does and he has loyal sub-contractors that know what they are doing and get their job done to perfection. Another thing you learn through this process is that Mark listens to what you want and also looks at your project through his own eyes and if your budget allows he will add things here and there or upgrade this or that to make it homier for you. We had a limited budget but he was able to do awesome things in our small space! We enjoyed this building process and are thankful to have chosen Marx Construction for this project! Hired Mark Valdez to build a home. He said he was a license contract with the state of Arkansas. After several months of little progress and lots of excuses we called the Arkansas state board to find out he was not license and misrepresented himself. We paid him a large deposit and it took several months to get most but not all our money returned to us. The only work that was done to the land with a small area trees removed. However we later were contacted by the city of Fayetteville to learn that Mark Valdez and Marx construction never got the correct permit to remove the trees. We were left with a liability and having to work with the city to correct this mistake. Mark Valdez already has complaints on file with the Arkansas state board of contractors. read more

Does great work. Remodeled our house. Very satisfied. Painted all the living room kitchen area. Installed new granite and backsplash.

They went over their estimated budget by almost 50%. They would not send an itemized parts list after being asked several times. We had to settle to avoid a lien on the house which in turn left us with fixing their mistakes. Their Sheetrock showed seams and patches, they sprayed texture all over our ceiling, our shower leaked that they installed that ruined our trim, they shimmed our counter top to where the shim was visible, they didn't dust cover our items during times so our TV, pictures, shelves, couches, tables were all dust covered, they didn't stretch our carpet or tack it down so it rests against our trim, electrical outlets not flush with the wall. The crew was unprofessional by leaving dirty dishes in our sink to wash for them. read more
