Great homey cafe chain in SM Makati
Love this place. Super cozy with slow and easy service, Mary Grace pulls you inside and makes leaving super hard! The food is pretty decent, the hot chocolate solid, and the baked goods delicious. We went for brunch on lazy Monday morning, and here's our take:
Mango Shake. Defiantly watery, this is made made using real Filipino sweet mangoes, and so the fresh taste is in your face with the first sip. So good, we recommend this refreshingly sweet fruity drink.
Raspberry Tea. They were out of peach, and we ordered this instead. Light on ice, this comes with real sweetened raspberry fruit prices. Drinks like less like an iced tea and more like a light juice. Refreshing and not too sweet. I would ask for more ice, but otherwise, I can recommend.
Bangus with rice and eggs. Star of the breakfast platters. Comes with a slight crisp and tons of flavored garlic infused into the meat. Definitely a better rendition of classic Filipino dish than your grandmother made. Goes great with the garlic rice and your choice of eggs. All breakfast dishes come with vinegared mango slices, vinegared tomato and onions, and vinegar on the side. Definite recommend.
Tapa with rice and eggs. A sweetened version of the classic beef dish, the meat wasn't the most tender. However, it packed plenty of flavor, and its sugar level made think I was eating sweet tocino at times. If you like sweet tapa, I can recommend. I like ketchup on my eggs, so I had to ask for it since it's not a confident on the table.
Tocino with rice and eggs. Not super tender like I like my pork tocino, and not red like I prefer (reference Mekeni brand tocino), but it ain't bad either. Only slightly sweet when compared to the tapa. I actually feel the flavor profiles could be switched, though I prefer sour tapa. That said, I think if you're looking for a sweet and tender tocino style with try characteristic red color, this ain't it. Don't recommend since it's definitely not my preferred style.
Mango Bene. Normally, this is really good. But it came out frozen, and so the flavors didn't really have time to set. Mango taste was thus muted. Recommend only if asking them to let it thaw at the beginning of the meal.
Overall, a good experience but not the best. Things got busy quick when got there, and the number of servers to tables was ideal. Recommend if you're not in a hurry as many other baked goods are great. I always want to take a box of something. Sadly, no more apple pie for the time being. read more
