Bottom-feeder debt collection agency. My wife and I borrowed $1000 25 years ago from a budget retailer to buy crappy furniture for our first apartment (which fell apart after a year). We made payments for a couple of years, but our life was upended and it went to collection with $300-$400 remaining. Then this firm, who we never chose to do business with in the first place, got a garnishment of our state tax return and have taken our entire state tax return for over 20 years, adding up to well over $5,000. They still claim that we owe them $3,000 after carefully adding enough fees and interest to overcome the "payments" gained through our tax returns. We're much more financially stable today and paying it off to get them off our backs, but this firm has extracted well over 500% of the original debt over the lifespan of our interaction. It's unethical bottom-feeding behavior and I would be ashamed to be a leech working for such a scummy firm. read more

Yes had a debt i will admit it. But when suppoena was presented to me at my door i call my city court and asked what I had to do they advised me to try and contact them and pay payments instead of going to court called them numerous times always got answering machine never got a call back now have garnishment against me tried calling again guess what no answer no call back. As the other reviews say crook I donnt think thats quite the name for her and her so called law practice The way I look at it Karma will get her LOL and I hope it bites her and any associates real hard !!!! She's a crook!!!!! She's a bill collector!!! BEWARE!! She doesn't follow the laws. She will screw you as much as possible. If you are unfortunate enough to deal with this agency/lawfirm make sure you know what to do. After you get down to it they will "work" with you. What they don't tell you is they WILL charge you interest, MONTHLY, just as bad as the credit card company and more. They also won't tell you that they will put a lien on your property. They are very sneaky.....the best thing to do is investigate your options and actually go to court and let the judge decide how much, without interest, and no lien. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional bunch of people in my life. It is their job to collect and report a debt. Not play judge and jury. I paid my debt off completely and they have been so very rude and argumentative with me. If you try to speak a word they talk over you and treat you like the lowest common denominator. All I ask for is a fax of payment confirmation. If you've pulled the money from my account to pay a bill in full, and have given me a confirmation number for payment, in full, is it to much for you to fax me something saying such? They expect you to continue paying money after full balance is paid for, for at least 14 days after? Than they say they will issue me a check for money back? No, if it's paid, it's paid. This individual is not an asset to the law profession. Her primary occupation is as a debt collector. As a lawyer she feels she is above following the rules set forth for debt resolution and is wily enough to use the courts an dthe law for her purposes. These are the reasons lawyers are the most reviled profession they often manipulate the law to suit themselves and in her case line her pockets. Presently she is the the defendant in a lawsuit being heard by the United States District Court Western District of Michigan. The lawsuit is a class action lawsuit that was filed due to her flagrant disregard for adhering to the madates of the law when collecting debt. read more

Her agency sent somebodys paperwork to the Michigan Department of Treasury to garnish their tax refund - incorrectly filled out paperwork, transposing social security numbers-INTO MINE!!!- and now the state is holding my tax refund until the mess is cleared up. Spoke with her agency, explained the problem and all they will say is 'unless you give us your full social security number' there's nothing we can do about it!!!! They made the mistake but won't fix it. So I guess I'm on board to call them crooked also. read more

They took me to court, court ruled that it would be 1/2 of the total due, and NO INTEREST, yet I just called a few weeks ago to get the pay off, and the girl stated that they have been charging 1.08% interest (low but is not what the court ordered) So I sent a copy of the 2 page court order along with my final payment & sent certified. The lady said would be 10 days & I would receive a paid in full receipt. I called because it has been a month! And the nasty attitude I got was ..and I quote "AND WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU!" I told her I sent my final pmt and was told 10 days and not received anything, that I also was not supposed to be charged interest and the lady stated before interest was being charged "per their original collection letter". She also in a snippy tone stated "we'll we have sent it to the courts to remove and not received notice back yet is why you did not receive the letter" I have been attemtping to reach legal aid to have them re-review the contract but they must open a new case to do this & catching the line without a busy tone is not easy. The girl at Mary Jane Elliott stated "to have legal aid contact us then"! These were my original notes from 10-8 248) 306-2000 Alisha got irate & stated what do I want from them, I stated my receipt AND I am not suppose to pay the 1.08% she stated it is in the court order. I stated interest is only if I default. I asked for her last name because I will be having legal aid reach them & where would they send the complaint? She did not say goodbye & just hung up on me. I told he she had lied to me stating I would receive a receipt in about 1 week which it has now beenn a month & I have not received such a receipt. Alisha stated that she has the original papers sent to me regarding the court date and that interest was in that letter. I told her that the interest may be in their request but was NOT in the court order. I requested to speak to someone in their legal team, she stated none of them were avaiable. They are debt collectors...boo!! But, honestly I've been working with them for a debt I had. They were willing to set up payment arrangements that I could afford, unlike the credit card company that sent me to them. I read the other review and not sure of they charge interest? I haven't noticed. It sucks, but I created the debt, but happy they were willing to work with me to help me pay it off. read more
