Lately I have been making my rounds to the local antique and thrift shops. My favorite sister is coming to town and she LOVES to browse at collectibles. I wanted to find the very best places to go. Well so far, Mary Parker Antiques is the winner for me in Mobile. Mary is going to greet you and if you are lucky she'll give you the grand tour of the place. I felt very special walking around this place with her. It is a designer's dream because everything is so organized. There are thousands of items under one roof, but Mary has done a masterful job of putting alike things together. She has two rows of butter churners...imagine that! She has vinyl records and old print ads! You will find beautiful furniture, glassware and china. Since everything in the place is her inventory, all you have to do is mention what you are looking for and she will take you right to it. She has a huge collection of antique doors and windows for Pinterest projects! Hubby is not a fan of these sorts of places, but I promise you he spent an hour browsing and another 30 minutes getting to know Mary. Great prices and the largest selection around. Be sure to meet Harvey, the cat. He keeps everyone company in the store! read more

I came to the shop with an open mind even though I had seen mixed reviews. My first 5 minutes in the shop, the owner came up to me & asked if I had on anything under my shirt.... I had a piko shirt on which is a very long shirt (pictures) with shorts. I told her yes & showed her my shorts. I'm just wondering what she would've done if I said no? I felt very uncomfortable. I browsed the huge building that's crammed full kind of hastily after this encounter. The building is FULL of items... so much in some areas you can't move but this makes sense as things are super over priced. I love antiques and have been to numerous malls and know they can run up there but they just seem steep. (See pricing on a wooden meat tenderizer in photo) She did come and tell me that the prices are negotiable but I did not feel comfortable negotiating after the confrontation from her. She was nice the rest of my time at the store and asked me how my Easter was but I just really did not want to speak to her after that. She has some great items but I honestly don't think I will be back because of prices and her bizarre attitude.... I'm disappointed because the business has so much potential. read more

5 star antique and thrift shop! This place is awesome and Mrs. Mary is a pleasure to talk to. When you walk in the front door everything is arranged well and the shop is full of treasures! Everything from vintage kitchenware to old crates full of tools and parts. I come here often and I'm told that Mrs. Mary is firm on her prices but I'm definitely on her good side...... This place was a total gem and Mary was so nice! It was a hot day so she gave my husband and me a glass of cool lemonade. Everything was fairly priced and easy to find. We're not from Mobile, but if we're ever passing through we'll certainly visit Mary's shop again! read more

In response to the previous comment, I would like to clarify that Mary Parker is, in fact, cooperating fully with the Mobile Police Department and has been the entire time. Mary has even initiated several recent visits to the police station to ensure that she is doing everything correctly in this matter. Mary has never knowingly purchased items from criminals. I am very sorry that M Y is going through this situation, and I hope that it is resolved soon. read more

You must visit this store! She has more inventory than you can imagine at very reasonable prices. Huge variety of antique furniture, glassware, mirrors, beds, antique tools, windows, and doors. And unlike most antique stores she's open 7 days a week. read more

I went back to Mary Parker's last week and they had a whole bunch of jewelry in their case and were unloading more boxes. I am a pin collector and it was so great to see all the pins sorted by jewelry type. It saved me time. I will drop in again because she always has new stuff. I love a store that is clean and organized. read more
