I'm a big fan of hard shell tacos. I found a spot in Phoenix. Ordered the three tacos: red chile chicken (meh), fish taco (meh). But their green chile beef tacos were so good. Their beans and rice could use an overhaul. If a Mexican restaurant can't perfect their staple beans and rice then it throws off the rest of the meal. It should be second nature, piece of cake, blind cooking to get the beans and rice perfect. Come on mi Amiga! Get it together. I'll be back for the green chile beef tacos. read more

Maskadores is a friendly hole-in-the-wall and a perfect place if you want to grab some authentic taco-truck-style Mexican food. You know a place is legit when it has a full salsa bar, and Maskadores doesn't skimp on the selections. You walk in and place an order with one of the two people cooking up meat behind the grill and then grab a table to hang out. Along with the street tacos and enchiladas (definitely recommend Christmas style shrimp), they have a secret kids menu option of a soft taco which our 2 year old loved. Service is friendly and fast, and we saw lots of what were obviously regulars wandering in to grab a quick bite. Maskadores is conveniently located on the drive back from the Desert Botanical Gardens to our home, so we'll be seeing them again shortly. read more

Really good food. Great birria tacos. My combo was about 15 with tax. I thought it was slightly expensive. The food is really great though. Service is good not amazing or super welcoming. I've never walked into a Maskadores and been disappointed until today. This was my first time at this location. The staff were not welcoming and seemed annoyed. The food was cold and the meat was chewy and hard like it was heated up from the day before. The screen they turned around for the tip was filthy, I didn't even want to touch it. Not kidding when I agree these are best tacos in the valley. I only tried the chicken tinga tacos but the meat quality is very good and soooo much flavor. My first thoughts are to take heed when the nice lady who runs the place states, "the barbacoa is a teeny bit spicy!"... If you know me I live things a bit spicy but holy moly's this beef was spicy! On a scale with one being the lowest and then being the highest, these were an easy seven. I was so proud of my wife for eating two of her three barbacoa tacos. She mentioned she was so hungry from the morning hike that she thinks she just hammered them down so quickly she didn't even realize how spicy the tacos were. The store is in a rather large community,l but feels off the beaten path due to it's located behind a larger building. If you love authentic Mexican food then this is the place to try. A big five stars for the service here, especially Miguel, who went above and beyond in helping me with a strictly vegetarian order. He was patient and understanding and then went and crushed some excellent tacos! We were in the area and stopped in for a bite, having completely forgotten that it was a Tuesday (read: Taco Tuesday). We took advantage of their 5 tacos for $10.99 special, and Miguel and his crew crafted some delicious eats. The tacos were fresh and flavorful, and you could still feel the heat from the flattop on those tasty tortillas. All of the ingredients were fresh, though the cream and guacamole stood out. A nice Mexican taco shop with a very friendly staff. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito and it was pretty good and it was 11 dollars. I got everything in it and it's definitely a more unique breakfast burrito due to some of the add ins. I threw a scoop of each of the hotter salsas on my rice and beans and they were fantastic and super hot. The luchador vibes and music were perfect and the staff very kind. Delicious I have passed this little shop dozens of times but never havevstopped. So, today, I thought I'd give Maskadores Taco Shop a try. The interior is very unique, decorated with a luchador theme and the restaurant is very clean and the staff friendly and accomdating. On this visit we shared barbacoa and pastor tacos, rice, beans, cheese quesadilla, horchata and jamaica. The pastor tacos were amazing and the barbacoa tacos was just as good. The meats were tender not chewy, like at other places, and everything was very flavorful. The horchata and jamaica were delicious and tasted home made. I went to Maskadores with my husband and our friend. Our friend recommended it. We had never heard of them. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. They had a lot of options. My husband and I both got the Chipotle chicken enchiladas. They were a little spicy but not too spicy. They came with rice and beans (choice of pinto or black beans). We enjoyed the meal and will definitely be going back. I only gave it 4 stars because the seating wasn't very comfortable and they don't serve beer. read more

I'm happy that there is a new location near the Arcadia area. I knew I wouldn't eat 4 tacos yet I still got the combo and took some home. It would be nice to have ala carte options for individual taco purchases and to know the price of the guacamole before hand. It was $2.25 for a very small container (see photo) my receipt said it was a large size for some reason. I wouldn't purchase that again for that small amount. The tacos are what I love. The meats are well cooked and seasoned and everything is fresh. Since it's the first time getting the combo I was surprised by the rice. The rice didn't taste fresh and it tasted like instant rice. I have told many people about Maskadores for their tacos and I'll stand behind their tacos all day. I highly recommend the tacos and the horchata. We didn't dine at the location; however, we ordered the churros via DoorDash and they are a 10/10! Sooooo delicious! I ordered eight and when they arrived, I was thrilled to see the churros were individually wrapped in foil! ALL EIGHT OF THEM! I recently ordered two carne asada burritos from Uber eats and was highly disappointed by the quantity of meat and cheese on each burrito...it was literally mostly flour tortilla rolled into small portion of meat. Additionally, the flavor on the few pieces of carne asada was suboptimal, it was tasteless. Their rice (which I ordered in the side) was tasty but know it is instant rice (clearly out of a box) doesn't take much effort to cook real rice. I would definitely recommend adding lots of fresh elements to your meat/tortilla offering to brighten things up. They have so many delicious toppings, salsas/hot sauces - try a bunch! I stopped by tonight to try out their Taco Tuesday special and got 3 tacos de Tinga and 2 de Apastor and they were all divine. The meats were delicious and seasoned perfectly. I have also tried their Mini Chimichangas and their Carne Asada Fries and both dishes were... *chefs kiss*. The food here is really really good. HOWEVER, what won me over was their AMAZING service. I unfortunately didn't know their closing hours the first time I came in and I arrived 15 minutes before they closed and I hate being that annoying last minute customer but as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a "welcome in Friend" by the sweetest female employee and also met Miguel (I'm assuming the manager and/or owner) and Miguel was so pleasant. They both were very friendly and got to know me on a personal level. We bonded over our Mexican culture and heritage and I felt like I could chat it up with both of them for hours. I apologized for not knowing that they closed soon but they reassured me that it was totally okay and they appreciated my business. I know their reputation is built upon the bedrock of their tacos, but I was left very satisfied. Charging the same for a breakfast burrito as a regular burrito might put you off, but trust me when I say you're getting your money's worth. You have choice of any sort of normal topping alongside the typical accompaniments. I picked the machaca and I was very happy to do so.
