This review covers two visits to Tacos Veganos. During our first visit three weeks ago, we ordered three cauliflower tacos, a side of fries, and three flautas with double rice. On our second visit yesterday, we opted for two cauliflower tacos, a surf and turf burrito, and three flautas with double rice. I must say, the food is consistently excellent! However, this isn't the place for those who lack patience. It's clear they take their time to perfect each dish and infuse it with flavor. The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere is quite relaxing. As someone who enjoys meat, I can confidently say that Tacos Veganos is a great choice for anyone seeking vegan options. Whenever I crave Mexican-style vegan food, Tacos Veganos will be my go-to spot. Having visited twice in just three weeks, I can see this becoming a regular haunt for me. While the indoor seating is limited, it's been fairly busy each time I've been. They also offer outdoor seating as well. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its ambiance and delicious food. This is how I stumbled upon a taco spot that I had no idea existed. I was getting coffee at my favorite spot, Lola Coffee, when Ana, the server, asked me what we were doing today. She recommended a fantastic vegan spot called Tacos Veganos; and it blow us away. Yes, everything is VEGAN, including the meats! We ordered three different meat tacos: pork, chicken, and beef. I opted for the taco de papo, which was an incredibly delicious combination of potatoes, cabbage, and a sauce made from cashews. It was deep-fried, which added a unique texture to the dish. The chicken taco was my favorite. It was fantastic once I dipped it into the red magic compote. The beef taco had an aftertaste, but that's just a personal preference. Ana, who's a native of Mexico, said the same thing about the tacos. I was skeptical at first, but she was right. These tacos are so good that sometimes the substitute is better than the real thing. I was so excited to go to Tacos Veganos after reading all of the amazing reviews. I took my mom here on a Friday evening around 6pm. I was glad we got there when we did because shortly after we put our order in there was a line almost to the door. It is counter service so you kind of need to know what you are getting and everything looks so yummy it was super hard to decide. I got the AZ burrito with birria, which is made with jackfruit. It's meant to be like pulled pork. It was huge and very messy. They tortilla was very rubbery but the filling was good and I think there were French fries in there? Maybe that is what makes it an AZ burrito? Overall the flavor was good but it needed something else like beans or guac. It just tasted very one note. Also I got the horchata. It was delicious. My mom got the surf and turf taco. Again the tortilla was tough to eat so she got a fork and a plate and tore into it. This one had the "asada" soy steak and then breaded and fried pieces of cauliflower. The fake meat was not that good. It was too salty and so was the rice. The cauliflower although tasty was so big it was hard to eat. Overall it was good but not as amazing as I had wanted it to be. I likely won't go out of my way to come back. read more

Growing up on San Diego taco shop street food, I have a high bar for Mexican food, and this place hits home in a way nothing else around here does. The selection is unbeatable -- there's literally nothing on the menu that isn't good! I used to eat here one to three times a week. My work schedule changed and now it kills me that I can't get out as often, since they're in central Phoenix and I'm out in far East Gilbert. But trust me -- this place is absolutely worth the drive. The birria is my go-to on anything, and I'll often do a 50/50 split on the nachos or the fries -- both are killer! I remember when they were just a taco truck, and the food was amazing then too. Moving to a brick-and-mortar didn't change a thing -- same incredible quality, same fantastic customer service every single visit. Worth your money and worth the trip, even if you're not vegan! This was my first visit to their brick and mortar location! My friend and I wanted to grab a late lunch/early dinner and were in the area. We were greeted warmly as we perused the menu. I was initially considering the burrito or nachos but then I saw they had a few specials. I'm a sucker for a taco salad, so I ordered that with pollo (chicken). My friend got some potato tacos and birria sauce to take home. Note: they charge a 3% credit card fee, which I didn't notice until I got my receipt. Our food was prepared in a timely manner and we grabbed a table in the back next to the bathrooms. Which btw are both gender neutral, which is nice. They also have outdoor tables, which I've sat at when this spot was a burger joint. My taco shell seemed to be on the smaller side but it was filled with lots of ingredients like beans, pollo, guacamole, onions, sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. It tasted great and the taco shell was freshly fried (no old oil aftertaste). The pollo was cooked well and had good flavors. Came here with a vegan friend on Friday for a late lunch and absolutely loved it! We arrived just before rush and since I couldn't decide what to order, I ordered all three things I was looking at: Abia taco, a cauli Baja taco, and the AZ burrito with " Carne Asada". In the time my friend i dined at the restaurant, so many people came and went. They do have table seating and a large menu you can review upon walking in. After that, you can order at the counter countertop and find this place to sit. I got a red and a green salsa, both paired well with my food. I just had food delivered to my hotel and I feel bad because I think I got someone else's nacho sauce in my order! I got the massive Arizona burrito with birria and it's delicious! If I'm taking a food trip to Phoenix this is first on the list. I got the AZ burrito - the tortilla was so good/soft - like classic Mexican style tortillas not the rubbery kind - and the burrito itself was huge, with lots of fillings. I also got the horchata which was so yummy, no grainy texture and had a nice cinnamon taste. The staff was also very nice and answered all of my brother's ingredient questions (yes EVERYTHING is vegan). All the salsas they gave were too spicy for me but the food had great flavor and wasn't dry so I didn't need it. One thing to note is the tacos de papas are hard shell tacos not soft. I also got an order of birria ramen to go, and there happened to be a BOGO deal so we got 2 ramens. They were thoughtful and gave us the noodles and jackfruit birria in two separate containers. After reading and hearing glowing reviews from my fellow Yelpers, I knew that I had to take my husband here. For over the last 12 months he has pretty much refrained from eating beef, chicken or pork. As someone who has become newly lactose intolerant but not vegetarian, this spot sounded attractive to me. You then pick your own table and wait a few minutes until your number is called. When getting your items, be sure that you receive the two house made salsas. We both agreed that they made all the difference in the taste of our AZ burritos $13.99. The taste went from just okay to extremely tasty! These large burritos filled with white beans and soy meat were good but really heavy on the rice and fries which felt unbalanced to me. The onions and cilantro mixture were flavorful components but more of the vegan sour cream and guacamole would have enhanced this $13.99 dish. Margaritas, beer, Mexican bottled Coke and fountain drinks are available for purchase. I would visit again and try their tacos. I'm happy we finally made it to this popular place! read more

One of the things that I love about living in the Valley is that we are blessed to have great tacos here. Tacos Veganos is definitely up there as one of my favorites. The food is just as flavorful as tacos with meat. Tacos Veganos serves tacos, burritos and combo plates. The jackfruit quesabirria tacos are one of their highlights. The jackfruit is cooked in red chiles and other spices for many hours and topped with vegan cheese and onions. For drinks, they have agua frescas, sodas, horchata and alcohol. This Tacos Veganos location is on Indian School Rd in Arcadia. Arcadia is home to some of my favorite places to eat in the Valley. I tried this restaurant once in the past and I thought the food was just average. I wanted to give it another try. I ordered through uber eats about 60.00 dollars worth of food. The pictures are below. The taco special with rice and beans; also the quesadilla. I ordered an extra side of rice and beans as well. I am such a big fan of Mexican food and I'm a vegan for about 7 years now. The food was very delicious! I loved the rice! Regardless of it being vegan or not, this is one of my fav Mexican spots. When I am eating vegan, this is my go-to cheat restaurant. I keep it simple and rotate different tacos that I find are better than their real-meat versions in most places. The birria is the real deal and I love the Al pastor too!
