First-Hand Experience: Wonderful to see Pompey coming back. One of my fave teams, and I've seen them live maybe 6 or 7 times, including 4 times at home (once in every tier of football, ironically). I love coming to see them play, I love the intense loud passion of the fans, and I love that this smaller provincial team won the FA Cup recently in an era when mainly only the big clubs do. I look forward to coming back to Fratton Park again asap. I was last there in 2014. If this were a few years ago, I'd have given Pompey (as they are known) a 2 or 3 rating because they were in severe financial irregularities, were not paying their players, were in freefall, they had been mismanaged and abused and exploited and were on their way out of business. However, after hitting rock bottom, the supporters trust bought the club, and paid off all of the debts, and as of a few months ago, the club is now debt free for the first time in a long time. It's a real shame though. One of the best clubs in the country, twice winners of the Premier League in 1949 and 1950, twice winners of the FA Cup as recently as 2008 under Redknapp who will now forever be a hero... and now they're in the bottom tier of the league. At least they're surviving there though, and it is only a matter of time before, like Plymouth (but moreso), such a huge team rises back up through the divisions. I love that they play in a little urban neighborhood of Portsmouth. It would be cooler if it was right by the sea, but it's a great city with great food and real people and tiny little streets, and it's always been a really lovely team. Yes, so Glen Johnson and Boateng and Crouch and all those guys played here, but I remember the days when it was just a fierce, honest, dangerous and passionate team with a loud crowd and Guy Whittingham banging in the goals. They were always a rival of Oxford, in fact I think they both got relegated the same year. Oxford's my hometown team. They play in blue but I'll forgive them for that. GG Portsmouth. Up the Pompey. The team has a huge fan base so they deserve more reviews. Get right on it, please, people of the Pomp. Oh btw thanks for giving my Liverpool 11 mil for Crouchie, although idk why you did. Crazy that Harry had guys like Diarra and Boateng playing on the south coast. I think he must have been giving them manila envelopes for their troubles. So yes they're owned by the people now. And that's the way every team should be.

Kuti's Brasserie - The dining room is very beautiful and relaxing.

Very nuanced flavors, loved the way the coconut was woven into the curry. Beautiful. I found tha ubergine side not as great as the other dishes, tasted fine but not exceptional. Only concern was trying to find a server to get the bill when I was ready to leave.

After reading the reviews on several places we decided to try Kuti's. We made the right choice. Since we had no reservations we arrived early hoping they could fit us in. At 5:20 pm they were not even open yet but they invited us in out of the rain and welcomed us to sit at the bar while they continued to set up the dining room. After ten minutes or so the hostess seated us at a very nice table. The ambience is upscale with linens and well dressed polite staff. That would count for little of course if the food did not match the setting. It did not disappoint. We had lamb korma, chicken jalfrezi, rogan josh, mushroom rice and of course naan. The portions are generous and we intentionally order enough to take some home with us. It was that good. The price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. Overall it was a delightful experience and we will head straight there next time we are in Southampton.
