After breaking the ice and mentioning that it was my first visit to the Davis location, while my spouse had been there a few times before, the employees became more relaxed and accommodating. I appreciated their friendly service and the generous portion of the Kava Cloud Breaker. The Davis location offers plenty of flavors to choose from, which made for a great experience. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

I cannot recommend staying away from Hearts for Paws enough. I'm not someone to leave negative reviews EVER. But our experience with Hearts for Paws was so awful that I feel compelled to warn others away. We were very interested in doing a trial adoption (and hopefully adopting) a dog from them. We brought her home for what was stipulated to as a 5-7 day trial. When we picked her up, the foster noted some concerns they had--namely that the dog wouldn't do well in a small apartment like ours, as she was currently running on a 5 acre property. They were also concerned that she wouldn't do well with our cat, as she has a high prey drive (though we'd been told by the rescue that she was good with cats). Knowing this, we still decided to give it a try. The poor dog whined every day and night. She'd settle for a short period before beginning to whine and pace again. It was very obvious that she was upset and needed more space. We took her for 3 hour long walks each day, but even that wasn't enough. Further, the whining and pacing intensified, and she started jumping at closed doors, including the door to the room our cat was in. Our cat was petrified. Heartbroken but knowing this wasn't going to work, we reached out to the foster and the rescue. The foster was a sweetheart, and was ready to meet us to take the dog back. The rescue was another story. She rapidly started lobbing attacks at us when we explained we wanted to return her as soon as possible. She said horrifying things, and even told us we should hold onto her longer because "no one had died" so all must be well. She told us that if she had to take the dog back sooner (mind you we were trying to return the dog to the foster, not her), it would risk this dog's and other's lives. She sent us a photograph of a dead dog's brain splattered on the road, telling us this was the kind of thing that happened because of people like us. I won't share the screenshots of her messages or the photo, as it doesn't need to be done here. But needless to say, this is not a rescue worth dealing with, nor is it one who seems to really take seriously what's best for pets. I would not ever go near this team.

Language classes are taught here by fluent speakers/teachers and membership with the I house will allow you to take any class you like (dance classes included too along with other event). There's storytelling for younger children each month and gathers for others weekly. Many other events happen weekly, just check on their website to see what's available and interests you :] Every year, the International House puts on the International Festival and there are many activities and performances. It's clear that everyone there is very passionate about their work and helping people out. Just come and check this place you, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. This office opened in 1990, but basically it is a cultural center that celebrates various events such as Black Family Week and Mixed Heritage Week. Their major events they do annually would be the Pow Wow and Asian Pacific Leadership Retreat (APLR). The Cross Cultural Center has a very welcoming atmosphere and they do have study rooms! They are generally full, but some rooms are for share anyways. They are always looking for volunteers, so definitely check them out!

We attended almost every Fourth of July picnic. I participated in tennis camp and my sisters sailing camp. Stonegate was and is an essential part of our daily life and tradition. The gym was recently renovated and has tons of beautiful equipment. 4 stationary bikes, a high quality stair master, rowing machine, 3 treadmills, and a weight room. It gets the busiest in the mornings and right after work on the weekdays. The lake is beautiful when the sun starts to set and makes for a beautiful picnic spot. There are 6 tennis courts that sometimes require a reservation (definitely reserve during the summer if you want to play). There's food all table, ping pong table, and pool table. I will say that the pool table and room is a bit lacking. The table is slanted and last time I tried to play there was only one cue with a tip (all the rest are missing them). The pools are great. One baby pool, one kids pool, and a lap pool. The changing rooms and bathrooms have showers and lockers and the space near the office can be rented for events! We love stonegate!

The annual Crocker Holiday Artisan Market (CHAM) is well known throughout the Sacramento area as a premier venue to shop for beautifully crafted works of art during the Thanksgiving weekend. Edit: To clarify, I found it pretty disappointing that there was an entire shelf dedicated to European history, and another shelf generalized as "world history". Within the "world history" shelf, I saw a row of books specifically about Israel and Zionism, albeit not labeled as such. The only book with Palestine in the title was on display, but on the back cover it specified that it recounts the "experiences of Zionist women settling in Palestine", and not indigenous Palestinians. I scanned the shelf and didn't see a single book about Palestine, despite a fair number on Israel. Given how charged this topic is with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, I felt uncomfortable as it seemed that the bookstore had taken an intentional stance by not providing, at the very least, accounts of both sides of the matter.
