This is the first massage therapist I have found that I like to consistently visit. She gives me tips for stretches and exercises to try between session to extend my results. She makes me feel comfortable by checking in regularly with regards to pressure, and engages in light, polite conversation. I became a member because I found Savannah. Additionally, about 10 minutes were spent on what I felt to be a chiropractic evaluation, including strength testing while I was seated and flexibility tests on the massage table. Beyond the massage itself, I felt that the session became too personal. The therapist shared a lot of information about her life, including details about her vacations 50 years ago with her boyfriend, her daughter's passing, and 3 brain injuries. While I understand the desire to connect with clients, I was really hoping for a more relaxing and quiet experience. Overall, the session felt like a mix of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and chiropractic work, rather than the relaxing massage I was looking for. I have been a loyal Massage Envy member for nearly 20 years, and I have never encountered such hostility or rudeness in a professional setting. Of all massage envy's I have ever visited this was perhaps the less memorable experience. It's almost as if paying customers need to serve the staff. Strange vibe, no waiting room for before or after your massage, I wasn't even offered a cup of water after my massage witch most places always offer a cup of water afterwards, the masseuse seemed annoyed the lady in the lobby was more concerned about eating her sushi than anything else. The water fountain they have has nasty grime dried up on the bottom... I won't keep going, you get the idea, in my 7 years leaving reviews this is perhaps my first 1 star review. I have had nothing but a great experience here, including with the front desk staff, but after reading some of the one-star reviews, I think people probably do have a negative experience here. Maybe it's luck. I have had five or six different masseuses at this location and they've all been great. Only one I felt was a bit pushy about the "add-ons" that have an extra charge. I have been a customer here in Florida for approximately 7 years and lately the service has been rocky at best. When you are told to arrive early, I arrive 15 minutes before my scheduled time. The last several massages the therapist has been late by 10 minutes. I did ask if my therapist was there and they advised they had been having issues with the therapist showing up on time. They did advise they would provide a free enhancement during the next massage. Today I show up 15 minutes early and my new therapist shows up to greet me right at 4:15 and takes me back to the room and told me to have a seat. I'm sitting down and she asks questions about my health which the majority of it is already in the computer. I advised that I had surgery recently and to be gentle in my thumb area. We talked a bit more about the surgery and she asked if I had a note from my doctor advising if I could have a massage. I advised that I have had several massages within a couple of weeks post operation from massage Envy since I have been a member for 7 years here and several back in Colorado. She proceeded to tell me that she can't do the massage and I advised that I drive from St Augustine to get my massages. I picked up my belongings and exited the room going towards the exit letting the desk know that they can make an entry that I am not happy and left. Since I have been a member I have never been advised that you needed a doctors note or wait three months if that were the case they have breached this on numerous occasions here and in Colorado. Never knew about a massage salon chain til Massage Envy. Had to many mornings waking up stiff and decided to do a half day and get a little professional pampering. Heat therapy is ... oh my goodness... having flashbacks ... it was really good. Then there was the facial that completely brighten me up and gave me baby smooth skin. I was walking into work the next morning with a glow and no makeup necessary. I completely zoned out through the whole thing it's so hard to put down words about the experience. This place has been my home for almost 12 years! I'm insanely picky so I can't fault those who were "one night stand" therapists who I didn't care for enough to see again. But the people who have been long standing therapists for me have been from heaven! Amazing experience--so good you don't even mind being single because you get that all important connection with therapists who are truly concerned about your wellbeing. I have to schedule way ahead of time for my current therapist, and I don't really know what it's like to work with others, but I love the front desk staff. Over the years I've cried on their tables, I've been healed from chronic pain, I've been treated like family, I've been celebrated and appreciated and have gotten treated with their quiet room specials: veggie and fruit infused water and trail mix and mints. This place has seen my body at my worst and I stand now with a rock star immune system, quick to recover muscular system and a heart rewarded by every visit. I know where to go for my health regimen. Made an appointment via phone for a couples massage, our appointment was either mistakenly put down as individual massages or the appointment was never saved at all, unsure which as no one ever admitted to what the issue was. Upon check in, Front desk lady #1 sighs and mutters something under her breath. Front desk lady #2 asks her what is wrong. Lady #1 looks at me and says "You can go wait in the tranquility room." We go wait figuring they'll sort it out, whatever it is. First, they tried to call one of us back alone. Eventually we get taken to the couples room where the therapists then say we've never been there before and say they can't massage us since we didn't fill out intake. Problems: #1) We have been there numerous times #2) We have been in waiting room for 25 minutes which was ample time to fill this out again had we been given any Next, the therapist tells us that if we hurry and fill out our forms and go to separate treatment rooms, they "should" be able to get us our full hour. Problem #3) Being rushed for what is supposed to be relaxing Problem #4) We wanted to be together. Obviously, that's why we booked couples. Problem #5) "Should" be able to get our hour? Now the therapist looks annoyed that I'm wasting her time as we confer as to whether or not we should just reschedule. No apologies from front desk at any point ever. We have had minor issues with this location before, and it just keeps getting worse. We left and won't ever be coming back. read more

To whom it may concern. On June 25, 2021 I went to the Bartram Park location for a 60 min massage because I woke up with a sore neck. I asked for someone who could perform a deep tissue massage and that is not what I received. I asked for specific spots to be addressed and I did not feel like they were and if they were they were not the pressure I asked for. During the massage I felt uncomfortable (finger nails) and still felt no relief after the massage. After bringing this up to the therapist I was asked if I ever tried a 90 min massage. I left it alone because I don't like confrontation, nor do I feel this should be addressed in the lobby. I called the next day and asked to speak with a manager and there was not one available. The lady I spoke to told me she could help. I explained my situation and she asked me if I would like to reschedule, so I did for July 18, 2021. I called this morning on July 6, 2021 to see if there was anything available before then only to find that not only was there zero notes in the system concerning my call but the reschedule was at my cost. I asked again for a manger and was told one would call me back. A manger at this location named Jeff did call me back. I again explained my situation. During this phone call Jeff explained that he has not had any complaints about the the lady's nails. He went onto say there are people there he would suggest for a deep tissue message other than her. He then compared his past experiences against mine. Stating that he has felt worse after a message which quite frankly is of little concern to me. I told him about the reschedule and he told me he would allow me to schedule at a new member rate if I would like to try again. Given the little experience I have with Jeff customer service and the happiness of future clients is of no regard to him. I feel as though the Two Stars previously given is appropriate for this location. The sad part is I was looking to open a membership. read more

I had an app scheduled for 1:45 p and 3pm for myself and my cousin. I received a call from ME at 12 noon, thinking it was the asthetian asking if I could come at 12:30p. I explained that were walking our dogs in the Bartram Preserve but would do our best to accommodate them. I was assuming that the asthetian had a cancellation and wanted to move up her appointments and my cousin would follow me. We rushed as quickly as possible and arrived at ME at 12:45. The receptionist who I found out had been the caller told everyone that Iwas late for my appointment. The asthetian led me back to the room and said that my 60 minute facial would only be 30 minutes because a client who was getting a massage had the1:45p, my originally booked time slot, for a facial. The root cause was the double booking of two appointments which I had to point out to the staff and not my fault as the implication was being made. I promptly cancelled my cousins 3pm appointment and cautioned the staff to not charge my credit card. The asthetian who was not aware of the appointment snafu assured me that when I rebooked there would be no mixup. Placing blame on the customer for 'being late" when we were trying our best to try to accommodate them equals NEVER AGAIN! read more

Disastrous experience for my wife, it was supposed to be a surprise for her bday with everything prepaid and taken care of. I called in advance and specifically told the person that no money should be discussed and I even gave my credit card I put it on file (again) just to make sure that it was all perfect. Well, it wasnt. Not even close. The secretary started questioning and charging my wife for something that should've been taken care of without involving my wife. I proceeded to call and ask and when I spoke to the manager all she said was that it was the girls fault the person that booked the massage. Didn't even take responsibility for it. All that was said was that they would contact a regional manager because what's a stores' manager for? Anyway, don't ever come here it's a bunch of untrained personnel. read more

Warning to anyone who may be considering a membership with Massage Envy in Jacksonville. Especially with the Bartram Trail location. I had to cancel my membership because we relocated to Austin Texas. The massage therapists were very good, but trying to escape the membership was horrible. I signed the cancellation forms at their location in Jacksonville January 2020. They stopped charging me for a short time. However, massage Envy started to charge my Credit Card again months after I canceled the membership? The franchise management (Jeff Traverso) was extremely uncooperative, wouldn't accept cancellation over the phone, wouldn't allow me to sign termination paperwork at another Massage Envy. I had to contact my bank several times to report fraudulent attempts to charge me. This location just gave me the feeling that it was a scam to get you locked into a membership to charge you monthly fees. When I did have the membership, I could hardly get appointments. When I did, they were usually booked weeks in advance. I had to contact Massage Envy Corporate, and it looks like that may have pressured the Jeff, and the Bartram Trail Massage Envy to stop the fraudulent charge attempts. Horrible Experience. read more

This was my first massage experience and it didn't go well. Why?? I called around 3 talked to Meagan to make a couples massage appointment at 8 with a detox aromatherapy and a hydro boost afterwards. When we showed upup at 7:40, we were told Meagan didn't save our reservation so we had driven 15 minutes for nothing. Then we were told by Courtney and Davey (the best part of the entire experience) we would get our detox for free and they were emailing their manager, Jeff while we were still there. The hydro boost we had already booked on the non-saved appointment was forgotten. We rescheduled it for the following day at noon, get a call later that they can't do noon and can only do 10am. When we got there, Lisa, my therapist, accused me of drinking before my appointment at 10am and proceeded to tell me it's not a good idea to drink before a massage. Then when we told her we had just woken up and hadn't been drinking. Lisa gave me the bare minimum of the run down before my massage. The massage on my partner was great, done by Benny. Afterwards we spoke to Jeff, the manager, and we asked what happened to our hydro boost. He stayed on his computer for awhile after realizing they didn't make a note of the hydro boost and didn't offer it to us. He basically just said "that's a bummer" and didn't offer us any compensation except to come back another time and he'd give us a free detox aromatherapy again. $10 worth, but we'd still pay the full price of the massage. We paid $100 for a 1/2 way done massage, terrible service, and an unprofessional manager and staff who barely apologized and let us walk out the door. We will never come back to this massage envy. Lazy, rude if I thought they were smart enough I would say fraud. I paid for 12 massages and only used 5. They said the massages expires but it went to a class action law suit and the paid for massages were given back to the customers. Fast forward 2+ years. Scheduled a message at 10:45 am for 1pm. Called back at 11:30to tell them my son has to come home sick from school and I would need to reschedule. I was advised I would have a 50% charge for late cancel. I added that I had just set the appointment a 45 min prior and she rudely said that I scheduled it 24 hours prior. Therefore would be chargers. Whaaat? I just got off the phone with them! I've been a member of the Massage Envy chain - specifically at the Bartram Park location for many years. I once was a very happy customer but have now grown so completely frustrated that I am considering cancelling my membership all together and finding another company who values long term membership. First, I experienced IDENTITY THEFT and was advised by my bank NOT to allow any company to have free access to my credit card - as Massage Envy requires. They did accomodate my request to set up an auto pay from my bank each month, however what a complete hassle!!! They receive a monthly check from my bank account every single month on the date they requested I send it in - yet they don't check their mail or update their records timely so my account goes into suspension and I'm hasssled about it at the front desk. Every single time - it has been their own recordkeeping error. In addition, the amount of paperwork you are required to complete and update EVEN WHEN NOTHING HAS CHANGED is something you can expect to be hassled with on a frequent basis when all you want is to get in, get a massage that you have paid for and get out. I've never had a massage anywhere else that requires such updates every six months and will not allow you to say that nothing has changed. They just demand that you keep filling out the same form with the same information over and over again. Find a great therapist there? Don't expect to ever get an appointment with them again. Therapists seem to change frequently for some reason and the good ones don't stay or are always booked. Customer service at the front desk changes so often that you never recognize anyone there and trying to book a massage can be a pain. I used to be able to book it myself online but can never get into that account or select my own therapist any longer. I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER AT ALL. read more

This place has seriously gone down hill. I used to be a member a few years ago, so I was thrilled when my mother gifted me a massage here for my birthday. I called and scheduled my appointment stating that I would be using my gift certificate. They asked for my credit card information in case I was a "no show." When I arrived I filled out an iPad with my information and then met my therapist. She was ok and not the best, but not the worst. When we finished she handed me water, I handed her the tip and I went to the restroom. She said nothing about checking out. When I walked out the front desk I looked over and they had a bunch of people standing up there so I figured I was good to go. The next day I looked at my credit card account and I had a charge for $50 from Massage Envy pending. I immediately called and Chloe answered. She informed me they assumed I was walking out without paying so they charged me. She then proceeded to tell me there was no gift certificate and I was "ruining her day." After my mother had to call her back and deal with Chloe as well I am awaiting my refund still. My mom was so frustrated as well. Hopefully management will do something about their "customer service" at this location soon. read more

I am very disappointed with the customer service at this location. I gifted an hour to my daughter (my account is at Harbor Village) and verified the gift at the desk after my appointment. When my daughter called and made her appointment she verified it with the person on the phone. When she checked in they asked for a credit card and then charged her on it. When she called about the charge Chole argued with her and got her upset saying that there was no credit. She told my daughter that she could hear that her blood pressure was rising and that she (Chole) was having a good day and didn't need my daughter to talk to her like that and ruin it. Chole called me and told me that she couldn't find the credit. I got upset and told her that I had been shown the credit by the receptionist and she didn't believe me. I told her that she was lying and asked to speak with a manager. Was told there was no manager on duty and that I had hurt her feelings because I called her a liar. I said what about my feelings since she was saying that my daughter and I both had lied. She continued to ague with me so I hung up on her. She called me back and said they had found the credit. My massage therapist Veronica went above and beyond, and I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! However, I cannot say the same of the front desk staff, hence the 4-star rating. Compared to other Massage Envy locations, their customer service was lacking and a bit frustrating. When my scheduled therapist had an emergency and had to cancel our appointment, all 3 of the front desk staff failed to inform us and instead kept us waiting in the dark. After our scheduled time passed, and after we checked back with them twice, only then did they let us know something was awry. My mother and I were supposed to get massages together, but now only one of us could get it. We ultimately chose me, as I was having aches all over my body and couldn't reschedule. Veronica had been assigned to my mom, but she quickly adjusted to see me and let my mom hang out in the room so we could still spend time together as originally intended. Over the course of the next hour, we were surprised to learn that although she was very much affected by her colleague's ongoing emergency, she never missed a beat and continued to provide excellent service. She was very friendly, and my mother and I enjoyed all the conversations we had with her. Veronica is truly an asset to this location, and we wish her and her colleague the best! read more
