Beware if you sign a contract with them. I had been a customer with a membership for quite a few years and loved my therapist. I kept going despite the horrible experience that I had over and over again with scheduling, cancellations and increased prices. When my therapist told me she was leaving, I decided to close my account. I spoke at length with the store manager in July indicating that I wanted to close my account. She said that she would wait until September to close my account because my August fee had already been waived. She wanted me to have more time to use my remaining credits. She assured me she made a note on my account and would follow up. Beginning of September comes around and no follow up so I reach out to find a new manager who basically tells me I can close it but I'm going to be charged for September regardless because I didn't provide them enough notice and it's company policy. Terrible customer service and inability to even attempt to fix their own mistake. Your money will be better spent elsewhere. read more

Customer service is lacking. When I called, the person I apparently needed to speak with was never in the office and wouldn't call me back. After calling three times, questions about my membership were met with curt responses, misinformation, and an inability to provide any options that may allow for a resolution. After calling another location, I was able to get the information I needed to accomplish what I was trying to do with my membership. Just had a session with Jomar. He gave me the best reflexology treatment that I've had since living in Asia. He was AMAZING! My feet feel wonderful. He is also one of the very, very few employees in the country that seems to know the correct way to do an RTR. Massage Envy is an excellent value. I have a number of chronic illnesses and chronic pain, so I've been wanting to get regular massages. Their Wellness package has made that affordable for me. I love that you can get an appointment last minute without any problem and their wide range of hours. I've been treated by two of their massage therapists and had a good experience both times. Another great feature of the membership is that you can use it at any of the chain's location. Great if you're traveling or on vacation. read more

What a RIP OFF! I scheduled and appointment on Wednesday for Thursday. I had an emergency come up and needed to cancel on Thursday. They charged me a 100% cancellation fee on my card. $90.00 down the drain. This is robbery! read more

It's a racket. My wife signed up for the year long commitment and we are 5 months into it. 3 out of the 5 months, they have called to cancel or move her appointment because the therapist was sick or some other bullshit excuse. When confronted, they refused to cancel the contract unless she had a doctors note saying she cannot get massages for a medical reason or we moved more than 25 miles away. We will never be back and all future charges will be contested with my credit card company. read more

the therapist are for the most part just out of school and are not very well trained or experienced. the billing is also ridiculous. if you freeze your account they wont let you access massages that you have already paid for through their automatic billing method. They made up this ridiculous rule and they could easily fix this just by changing their rules. Their rules are completely in their favor and against the consumer. Just google "massage envy law suit". Find someone who works for themselves or a non-franchised therapist, they will be much better at their job and the billing will be straight forward. read more

I got a facial and Emily was so wonderful. It was the best facial I've had. They massage your arms and sholder blades too. She convinced me to pick up one of their sun screens but didn't go for a hard sell. She worked with the knowledge of the product line I use and gave suggestions which was great. read more

I am a new member and have really been pleased so far. This location is calming and clean and everyone I have encountered there has been professional, courteous and skilled at what they do. (I particularly had a wonderful facial with Natasha today.) I also find the member benefits and pricing to be a great value. I am offered tea, coffee or water and then ushered to a comfortable and pleasant waiting area. The massage is fantastic! Firstly, let me start by saying that the staff at Massage Envy are absolutely fabulous! I have been going to Massage Envy for a while now and have recently visited to have a facial. The Esthetician was phenomenal!!! She asked all the correct questions before my facial had begun, and was very knowledgable about products, skin conditions and causes of certain reactions in the body and skin. I Appreciated the shoulder massage that was offered, since I didn't have time to get both a massage and a facial (my shoulders get very tight). She was very pleasant. I have rescheduled my next appointment!!! As far as massage goes...I have seen an array of people and would recommend any of them as they are all fantastic! It is such a great experience every time I step into Massage Envy and their membership program is very convenient and appreciated! If you are looking for a relaxing experience I would look else where in lawrence. I called at 9am (when they open) to see if there were any openings and the receptionist told me that my request is a "tall order". I honestly do not believe that customer service is a qualification to work at this place. My girlfriend was sitting in the front room filling out paper work when the same receptionist made rude comments regarding how my girlfriend couldn't call to schedule her own appointment and did not realize that my girlfriend was sitting right in front of her. I also called to inform the "manager" about the situation and she told me she did not hear the comments made by the receptionist. Apparently the manager has to physically hear rude comments made by her staff for it to be legitimate....... The manager made it obvious that she did not care about how her employee treated my girlfriend. Expect to receive the same type of customer service you would if you went into a restaurant at closing time. I love the ease and pricing of Massage Envy. Most of all, I love my massage therapist, Jennifer, who does deep tissue massage. It hurts to start, but many of my aches have improved dramatically. It was awful. Freezing cold. Bad massage. 10 minutes less time than they tell you. Their headpiece was so rough it left a mark on my face that didn't get better for a few hours. They pitch this membership that's just ridiculous. On my way out, a lady was yelling and screaming because they had scammed her out of her membership. Nothing there but water. I might be wrong to compare a massage place in Kansas with those in California, but it was a pretty bad experience overall. They force you into tipping 30% by strategically placing "suggestion" charts all over. It was pretty trashy. I got a 1.5 hour (really only 75 minutes) and she didn't even work on my lower back, just shoulders, and it was the same figure 8 motion over and over and over and over and over again. She did my right hand, but not the left one. Didn't do my feet at all, and just ran her elbow over my legs. I might do it again if it's for free...wait no I won't. read more

i haven't had a massage at massage envy before, but i did get a facial and was not impressed. the esthetician was very rough when touching my face, which i thought was strange. when i've gotten facials in the past, it was very gentle and an extremely relaxing experience but the one i got at massage envy felt more like an intense scrub session. the shoulder massage was nice, but it took up at least half of the time (which, by the way, was not a full hour...) when i was expecting it to be more facial, less massage. before making my appointment, i called and asked about the facials since i hadn't gotten one there before and since it's primarily a massage place, i was concerned that facials may not be their strong suit. the associate on the phone was very nice and told me that they use hot towels, offer aromatherapy as add-ons to the basic facial, and give you a few different options of products to choose from. my experience was not like this at all. the hot towel was only used once for about 15 seconds. i wasn't offered any aromatherapy or any options as far as what type of facial i wanted. the worst part, though, was that when the therapist was massaging my neck, she kept poking those pressure points below my ears toward the back of my neck (you know, that soft spot where if you press on it, it sends a weird, sharp sensation through your jaw), which was very unpleasant. she also scratched my neck a few times with her nails while massaging, which was also unpleasant. the provided headband slipped down my hair and the therapist never replaced it so when i left, there was a halo of lotion around the front of my hair (which i'd just washed before arriving at my appointment...). when the esthetician first spoke to me before the appointment began, she asked if i wear sunscreen daily. i said no and she asked, "is it because you're AGAINST sunscreen?" i thought that was really weird. is anyone AGAINST sunscreen? it felt like she was scolding me. i also found it very un-relaxing that, during the course of my appointment, there was a lot of noise coming from the hallway from doors opening and being closed loudly and other employees and customers talking loudly in the halls. it contributed to the less-than-zen environment. overall, the staff at massage envy were generally very friendly, the facility was clean and comfortable and i'm sure the massages are great, but i would definitely not go back for a facial or recommend someone there for that purpose. my skin did feel fresh and clean afterward, but the main reason i enjoy facials, typically, is because they are so relaxing. that was not the case with my experience at massage envy. read more
