Husband purchased a $75 gift card that was supposed to include a 60 (really 50) minute massage, foot scrub, and gratuity. Unfortunately, he forgot what was included and I only received the massage, which was nice. But I mentioned the gift card when I made the appointment, when I arrived, and when I was paying. I didn't understand why my husband paid $75 for a $49.99 introductory massage and apparently no one at the store did either. When I called later that afternoon to ask again, the receptionist somehow knew exactly what the gift card was supposed to cover. I have never experienced anything worse! I made an appointment yesterday for 10 am today. I procured childcare for this appointment. I arrived to my appointment 15 mins early to find that they had No record of my appointment. Baylee- the second person with whom I spoke may have been the rudest person I have ever encountered. She told me that I must have made my appointment at another location. I verified from my recent calls that that was not the case. She went on in her rude tone until I requested the supervisor that was conveniently not available. It was not until I asked for the person in charge that she even gave a less than sincere apology. She never apologized for my loss of time and money due their blunder. Do not go unless you want rude treatment! Or to fine you have No massage!! read more

We had a couples massage and enjoyed the massages tremendously. However, I cannot help but to mention how the customer service is lacking. First off, the couples massage was meant to be a surprise to me and unfortunately the surprise was ruined when the front desk called to confirm the appointment. My boyfriend had scheduled the appointment and left his number and his card on file and it was meant for them to call him to confirm the appointment, but because my name was on file as well and I had been to this location previously, I was the one they called to confirm. But no big deal, we are human so it was more funny than irritating. However, when we went to check out, they had told him over the phone that the price of the couples massage would be $120, when we went to check out, they apologized that no one had informed him earlier that because I had been there previously and had a facial, I would not receive the same massage price so my massage would cost double his. That would have been fine, had that been disclosed in the first place. read more

Although I've had great experiences with the masseuses here, I had a troubling experience where they used my credit under another person's profile. I was basically being charged for this woman's monthly membership for three months. When I noticed what was happening (I live in California so I knew something was wrong when I was billed for a massage in Mt.Brook) I called this location to straighten it out. The first woman I spoke to was so rude to me-- she insinuated that I had signed up for auto billing/ a monthly membership and was going to pull up my signed paperwork to prove it. She put me on hold for a while and eventually just disconnected me. When I called back another woman answered and apologized about the whole thing and reimbursed me for the charges. However, at that point the entire situation left a bad taste in my mouth. That's pretty terrible customer service, especially when they were 100% in the wrong. The staff is friendly. My facial was wonderful-Jackie has a gentle touch. I'm not rating 5 stars bc the establishment wasn't as clean as it should have been on the day I visited. The floors throughout were in desperate need of vacuuming and the glass doors were covered with fingerprints. I sustained a shoulder injury two years ago and had been doing physical therapy with little improvement, so I thought a massage might be helpful. I researched local places to get a massage and I was enticed by Massage Envy's advertised $49.99 introductory massage. This is about half the price of a typical one hour massage. When I arrived, the front desk staff were friendly and they made sure the massage was customized to meet my needs. The massage itself was of average quality. Afterwards, still groggy from the massage, I was asked to sign up for a membership. Be sure to read the fine print! It is almost impossible to cancel your membership. The only reason I "qualify" for cancellation is because I just moved across the country to a rural location more than 25 miles from the nearest Massage Envy. I had to send them a copy of my Arizona driver's license as proof of my new address. Otherwise, I would have been trapped into paying $59.99 per month for the next year (over $700 total). Even if you meet their criteria for cancellation, they require you to take time out of your day to walk in and fill out a paper cancellation form (they reluctantly made an exception for me since I am over 1500 miles away). Perhaps I should have been more careful, but I am not aware of any other subscription service (and I use many of them) that are so difficult to cancel. Not even Comcast is that bad. Takeaway: don't be seduced by Massage Envy's low introductory rates. read more

Bought a 6 month membership after some sales pressure. Had 4 good massages and 1 not so good. Went to make an appointment for my 6th and was told my membership was expired. They wouldn't make good on a massage I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR! Not a very good way to treat a customer. Make that former customer. Don't buy a membership from them. read more

They refuse to honor their 1 year contract. You get set up on auto-draft for a year. But, then they just keep charging you. I made repeated requests to cancel my account, but with no success. I had to report the company to the Better Business Bureau and cancel my card to stop the payments. The masseuses are great. The management sucks. read more

Unfortunately I have had repeated bad experiences with this location. It is extremely difficult to schedule massages on weekends or evenings. On the occasions I've been there in the evenings there have been very few visible patrons and many empty rooms leading me to think they do not have the staff to accommodate more than a few requests in the evenings. Weekend appointments are nearly impossible unless scheduled weeks in advance. On 2 different occasions I have had appointments cancelled by Massage Envy literally within hours of my time. Per their policy if an appointment is cancelled by the client without appropriate notice the client is charged a fee however Massage Envy made no effort to compensate me in any way for my lost time due to their cancellations. I would have been very happy if they had simply offered to upgrade my next massage etc. After the second time I asked to be contacted by a manager which has never happened. I asked to be put on a waiting list for next available evening appointment. Apparently, despite their canceling on me versus the other way around, no effort was made to work me back in. I called back on a whim the next day and they actually did have an available appointment upcoming on the following evening. I accepted the appointment and again mentioned to the staff that I was not happy with the service. Sill no call from a manager. The last straw came when I received a call during my work day yesterday to say they had tried to process my credit card for my next massage, which was scheduled for the next evening, and the care was declined. I explained that I would work with them at the time of my appointment to figure out what the issue was (they were apparently trying to process payment on an old card they were to remove from their system and did not) however I was at work and could not handle the matter at that time. I happen to work in a busy hospital and my personal belonging, including my credit cards, were locked away in a separate part of the hospital. I was told in no uncertain terms that if they could not process payment they would not hold my appointment time. I finally had had enough. After work I called their national customer service line and explained all the above. I was told the owner would be contacted and I should expect to hear from him/her the next day. It is now 6:26 pm on the day I should have been contacted. I have not heard from anyone. I have again left a message for customer service and have contacted my credit card company to prevent any further payment to Massage Envy. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

I have been a massage envy member for 3 years. The first year was enjoyable, people were eager to please and friendly. But, the past couple of years, I have seen the decline in organization and customer service. No one seems to know anything. Scheduling a massage with the therapist I want and at the time I want has been extremely difficult. Call back later or I'll let you know, sorry, etc... Someone is always in training and doesn't have the answers. The therapists have all been good. The problem is the management. I've been double charged for products before, and no one can figure out why?? I also transferred one of my massages to my daughter for her birthday as a prenatal massage. She scheduled it as such but when she got there, no therapist certified in pregnancy massages was available so she had to reschedule and leave!
