( price is very fair 80$ an hour- there is a 4% surcharge to use cards, so bring cash to save & don't forget to tip I asked for a NMT ( Neuromuscular Therapy massage ) which is stronger than most - and CC didn't disappoint! I was surprised at how strong she was . CC used her arms as well as hands for a deep soothing , almost stretching at times massage . She even pulled my fingers and I felt them pop ! That was so relaxing! This neck thing she did by pulling upward was also amazing ! As someone else has mentioned - English isn't the first language here so there are menus on the wall when you walk in - you point at the amount of time you want , the different types of massage ( Swedish , hot stone etc ) be sure you are clear . There is a clock that has a timer in your room - and you do get the ENTIRE hour! (Most places give you 45 min .) if you want lavender or coconut oil it's an extra 10$ ( I am not big on scents so didn't add this ) It was honestly the best massage I've had in Birmingham! CC is amazing ! And there is a system to how she worked ( I tried to point out my shoulders hold most tension & not sure she understood completely- but she covered EVERYTHING! She used a warm oil at one time and even took care to make sure my hair was covered w a towel ) They have a massage here I've never seen offered elsewhere in Bham -where they walk on your back ! ( I noticed the bars over the table where they hold on as they do this I think a lot of men must like this. ) . I didn't want that because I'm a 63-year-old woman. They had a hygienic face cover in place for me to place my face on.- the room is dark and calming w zen music I saw someone said they didn't think these people were LMT but of course they are licensed I didn't have to look at the degree to tell CC had been trained as a LMT . I have had friends that visited here & recommended to me & Im so grateful. There's not much talking during the massage but I could tell she was reacting to my sounds or if I moved ( etc ) if I said " that feels nice ", it was a strongest massage I have ever had from a woman , but she didn't hurt me I asked for your "Neuromuscular Therapy Massage" ( NMT )which is much stronger than a Swedish . I have never had a better massage ! I will be coming back here regularly. They're a wonderful place and no , they're not "fancy "if you want to pay $100 extra to go to a spa - you do you ! Huge mistake! Upon going into my room, Chance asked me if there were any specific concerns. I told him that I wanted to do the traditional Swedish massage with aroma therapy, thinking the relaxation would help my back. As i proceeded to mention the muscle tightness, he didn't let me finish and told me to undress to my comfort and left. I should have left then. As he massages my back area, I realize there has to be knots there, and my back feels better when massaged in a certain area. I ask him if he could feel any, and he says oh yes. I asked him if that was bad, and he said it's subjective. Well thanks Mr. Professional. That helps me understand a lot. As he finishes my legs, he tells me to turn over. I ask if we could just focus on my back because it was my main area of concern. He rudely says we will after I turn over. I turn over, and he proceeds to massage my leg. Before he starts on my second leg, I ask again if we could focus on my back and neck area. He said we will finish up there and proceeds to massage both of my arms. When he finally makes it to my neck, with little time left, I ask if I can turn back over because it was hurting. He says if I turn over it will hurt worse and he proceeds even though I'm in obvious pain. At this point, saying anything is pointless as I've been rudely dismissed from the start of this session. When this nightmare and total waste of money is over, I get dressed. As I exit the room and began to walk down the hallway, he laughs. She had me sign my Groupon as "fulfilled," including a $94 service charge and promised a written confirmation via email that my next appointment would be completely free. After several days of follow-up, I finally received written confirmation of the future comped couples massage. When we returned a month later, the massage itself was good--but only lasted 69 minutes instead of the advertised 80. At checkout, I was charged a mandatory 22% "service charge" on top of tip, despite being told previously everything was comped. The service charge I was told doesn't go to the therapists but "covers the facilities." (There was not so much as a sauna in terms of facilities.) The front desk insisted the charge still applied, even though it was never disclosed in the Groupon terms and I had proof that it had been levied in appointment one. The manager who handled my situation was unavailable. I finally just paid it and left, but won't be returning. Between the staffing issue, lack of transparency, 11 unfulfilled yet billed minutes, and inconsistent policies, the experience felt disorganized and misleading.
