I was a member at Massage Envy for a year a couple years back. This was the branch I visited frequently until there was a MAJOR negative experience with one of their therapists during a massage. 1) it wasn't a massage at all, it was someone literally just stroking my skin, no pressure, why would ANYONE pay for that type of service?? 2) completely inappropriate behavior as I was touched in areas no person should be touched unless you're looking for a happy ending As soon as it was over I complained to the front desk and NEVER went back to that location. Recently a friend gifted me a credit, I called this branch to give it another chance and they told me I could use the credit just not with them. They black listed ME for something their therapist did. This place and clearly the owner do NOT hold themselves accountable for inappropriate behavior and will put the blame on the client and even BLACKLIST them. Mind you, I was a member years ago and I barely found out about me being black listed today. Thankfully I've called another branch and will be redeeming the credit there. Super clean and tranquil. Sheena is the BEST massage therapist. You need to book in advance but totally worth it. Massage Envy is my go to place for massages now for self-care. Dana is fantastic for a facial and the PCA skin care products (hydraluxe moisturizer and creamy cleanser has been a huge game changer....my skin has never felt so soft and my rosacea is gone now on my face. Beware Super deceptive pricing. The website is very shady too. If you create an account, the website will not tell you the price of the massage. Also, as a member, the website does not allow you to see your monthly charges or to change your payment form. Do not buy the membership!!!! Just booked a massage that said 85 on the website and when the person I gifted the massage to went to pay, it was 145$ plus tip, ended up being like 175$ Wtf??? For that much we will be going to Burke Williams. At least there's a hot tub there and a steam room. All this said, the massage therapists have been good here. This was my go to location for many years when I lived in the area... I started coming here for relaxation massages, then proceeded to pregnancy massages, and now I'm coming for massages to treat my body aches (oh the joys of getting older!). I've also had the facials a few times and they were good also. The staff is always helpful and the therapists I've had are all generally good. Pre-Covid they used to have a tea and a fruit infused water station in the waiting area which was nice. I still come to this location on occasion when I am in the area and most recently had Erick as my therapist, he was great. My regular therapist no longer works there so I can't see her anymore! It took me a few sessions with various massage therapists to find "the one" , but I'm SO HAPPY to say that I've found my go-to massage place. I do the monthly membership here for $75/month, which is not cheap, but still worth it as I truly look forward to my monthly self-care massage. I used to get quarterly massages at Burke Williams for a much heftier price tag, but I wasn't that satisfied so I found this place as an alternative. Finding the right therapist is a challenge. It's like having to find the right "dance partner" to flow through the massage. Joey is amazing! He finds all of the tender spots and flows through the massage so beautifully. His pressure is spot-on, and magically seems to read my mind. I always feel so much lighter and less pain in my body after the session. I've always done 60min sessions, but I may start doing 90mins just so we can go deeper in those sore shoulder spots. Two reasons I can't give it a full rating. 1. The massage is advertised as 60mins but it's really 50mins. It takes about 3-5mins past the appointment to get picked up, and another 5mins to get settled on the massage table and for the session to start. 2. I am not a fan of the facials here. I don't like that they use gloves, and the products don't feel/smell as nice as some of my other go-to spots for facials. Parking is not a problem. Plenty of parking in the lot. read more

Today I had an interesting massage therapy session with a male therapist, it was the first time that a therapist totally disregarded my request to stop massaging a certain area. The therapist Continued to tell me that he had designated time for each body section and that was strange to me since I wanted to focus to be on where my pain really was the therapist ignored me, and continued in areas that I did not care for at the end. I did argue you because I was in a vulnerable situation I waited until the end and I told this to the front desk. I was told that the management would be notified and there would be no charge for my visit today. I certainly hope they do some more training with this particular therapist, as I've never had this problem in my 30 years of going to Massage. I'm still in a bit of a shock that this even happened. I will still continue to go but I will make sure I do not go to that therapist. I just hope he's removed from Massage Envy completely because nobody should have to go through the horrifying experience that I just did. read more

I went earlier this week for a massage. The front desk staff was great. The lady doing the massage was good. But the room I was in was absolutely filthy the floor had either food crumbs or old dried skin all over the floor. As you lay on the massage table faced down all you see is crust and dirt all over the carpet the floor boards just as dirty that room hasn't seen a vacuum in months. If it was for the same day cancellation policy I would have left but definitely won't ever comeback again even if the massage was free. Also you don't get a 60 minute massage as they promote it's like 40-45 min maybe someone needs to sue them for false advertisement and get me in the class action lawsuit read more

Friendly front staff. Cold tea in waiting room. Okay massage, only 45 minutes but I was supposed to get 60 minutes. Staff didn't give me much massage, more of like a rub down and barely touched my shoulders and neck which I asked for a focus on. Exfoliating foot treatment is not worth the $15. I expected to get at least a little massage of the feet with this treatment. The treatment lasted all of 5 minutes for both feet...hot towel wipe off, scrub, hot towel wipe off and lotion. The front desk personnel has poor customer service. I booked an appointment to the app for my daughter's facial appointment. She's 12. Called on the day of and confirmed if they have the same policy at the Monrovia location for a minor and she said yes. Checked in at the time of the appointment and again asked if I need to be in the room as she's a minor, she said yes. Aesthetician Angie (which is awesome) asked if I did signed a waiver and I said no. She said she will check in the front. My daughter was already in the room and in the bed. When she came back, she said she can't take her as they have different policies on each and every location which was odd. When we came out the girl who checked me out could have been more empathetic and compassionate. Zero customer service skills. I asked for the business card of the manager and she said she'll be here tomorrow and handed me a card with no name. It was actually Angie who wrote the name for me. She's the only one that I felt with genuine empathy of the situation. I called the place after a couple minutes after we left to asked for the name of the person/s that check us in and check us out. The one who answered the phone sounds like the one who checked us out and her response was we can't give out names and my manager will call you in a couple days. I asked I thought she'll be here tomorrow and she said ohh she has a lot of things to do. She chose all the wrong words I needed to hear. How are these people working in the front desk with inconsistent knowledge of the policy and poor handling of customer complaints. They pretty much wasted our time. I wrote a review hoping the manager will read this as It's sounds like i am her lease priority as according to her staff she has a lot of things to do. Too bad I can't give zero star. read more

I came in for a 60 min full body massage with Martha. I go to the gym frequently so I was excited to get a nice, relaxing work through through my whole body. Sadly I was disappointed. The massage itself was relaxing but she barely massaged up past my knees so the backs of my thighs and quads were never touched, never touched my glutes and never touched my pectorals. Like said, I frequent the gym (often hitting legs) and those muscles were in desperate need of some TLC. I left disappointed and my body felt uneven. First try at this location: I'm 17 min early and she's 5 min late (that does not include the 10-15 min they allot for getting dressed before and after)... This is NOT a doctor's office and you are not a doctor. Thought the segue from one technique to the next was choppy and somewhat jolting but hands were strong and the deep tissue still provided some much needed relief. If you can overlook the cheap looking lobby and uncomfortable chairs waiting for your therapist to show up (or don't go in too early.. there's a whole foods a few doors down) then give it a try. I'll prob be back again but would recommend checking out a few therapists until you find one that you like. Second try: let's start w the positive... She was friendly enough and listened and noted my problem areas (I tend to hold tension in my neck and shoulders) and she dedicated pretty much all of the 90 min session to those areas. However, I go to get a massage for one reason only: alleviate the discomfort caused by the crazy knots I get. As such, I ALWAYS ask for a referral from the front desk for a therapist that has received good feedback for their deep tissue. The woman I was assigned to gave me something much closer to a Swedish/thai massage.. A far cry from the deep tissue I requested. I was was not into the jerky maneuvers and "massaging" me w the tips of a few of ur fingers isn't gonna do anything. All she managed to do was get blood flow ard my knots w her Swedish techniques and if I wanted to be moved around and stretched out id go to yoga and do it myself.... My knots need to be roughed up, man-handled until they're loose and outta my system... Not caressed like a plush toy. Def won't be coming back to see her again and will also not be asking for any recommendation from the front desk since I clearly didn't get anything but a recommendation based on availability, not specialty. I may or may not come back to this location to try another massage therapist but I'd prob have to find a referral from someone I know before I'd be open to it. Though location is convenient for me, I'll prob check out the one on Lake next and see if they have better therapists. read more

Truth is it's probably more of a tool to request an appointment. The confirmation is via phone. If you're an insanely busy person as I am you still need to schedule over the phone. Which, knowing that is fine. It's a reality for a lot of businesses still. Moving on... Massage Envy has done backflips to make things right for me and I'm really impressed. They really care about getting your appointment right. They really care about your massage being a good experience. This service was pretty good but if you want to continue to benefit from the decent price, you have to make a monthly commitment to a membership otherwise $145 for a 40 minute service. I rarely write reviews, but be forewarned if you pay for a membership and build up a number of credits and don't use them while you're account Is active, they will take them and and not allow you access to the credits that you paid for - I had over 15 hours worth of credit that they essentially stole from me and refuse to let me use. That is over a year's worth of monthly payments! I paid for those credits and they are just gone. They did not send an email or have any communication with their member about what will happen during this time. They just continue taking payments. I have emailed them, called them and sent them messages on Instagram. People have lost their jobs and are struggling during this time and they think it's ok to do this. All gyms have stopped dues because of Covid-19 why do they think they can keep doing this. I was a member for a couple of years and I am not going to come back when all this is over. read more

Jing and Abe have been my most recent therapists, so if you are lucky enough to be booked with either of them, you are truly in good hands. Jing is a bit more gentle on my tender muscles, carefully and slowly working out any kinks- while Abe really likes to get on in there and massage all my knots away. I was a monthly dues member at this location since ~ 2013. I stopped the monthly membership withdrawal in January of this year ('21) bc I could never get there monthly and I routinely would carry 12+months of credit on my membership - when I stopped payments I had 13 months of credit on my membership.  I visited the location in Hasting's Ranch yesterday for 1st time in a long time for my birthday and was super excited to get a massage+facial.  Unfortunately, was told by front desk staff that I owed $200 for services that day and that I forfeit my 13 months of credit when I stopped monthly payments. This was NEVER explained to me and it is a deceitful business practice.  I work full-time and have 2 small kids - it is impossible to get there monthly. I could not believe my ears!  BEWARE TO ALL before you begin a membership there! They will charge and charge and then cancel your credit. I will never go back and I will be sharing this info widely. Horrible management. Member since 2017 and yet they treated me like dirt. Despite having my massage appointments canceled the same day with no credit or compensation, this manager refused to use their discretion for an appointment I needed to cancel the same day. Earlier that evening I used the app to schedule a massage and I mistakenly made an appointment at this location instead of the South Pasadena location. The app is confusing and does not allows you to cancel appointments. I called as soon as I realized and was informed that they would have to charge half the massage. I explained the app was confusing, I had just made the appointment about an hour earlier, that I had been a member since 2017 and had never canceled the same day. I asked for the staff to check with the manager to get authorization to waive this fee due to the circumstances, the manager refused. I will never come to this location. I have literally paid thousands of dollars in membership fees and they are willing to loose a loyal customer over $30. Nickel and dime-ing customers is bad business. Stay away. It's been YEARS now and we're still the Best of Friends, Hastings Ranch Massage Envy and I. I've been to other stores, but this one still is the most comfortable to Me. They have good masseurs, and if you find a person you like ALOT, it's easy to continue having appointment with them. My Ultra favorite treatment I do once or twice a year is to have a massage directly followed by a facial. I love that in this store, both treatments are in the same room. After the massage you can just lay there and vegetate, waiting for your next pampering. It never hurts to confirm that's how they are going to set it up for you while you make the appointment. I would tell you who my favorite person here is, but then it would make it THAT much more difficult to get some time with the wonderful massage angel. However, you'll be happy with anyone here! The front desk staff are really nice and welcoming. They also have a giant bowl of candy (chocolate!) in the lobby to help elevate the Happy Endorphins! Not that you'll need help with that here.
