I made an appointment as a surprise for my son and found out just 30 minutes after making the appointment that he had a required school video call. I called back immediately to reschedule and they said we would be charged 50% for the appointment that was booked 30 minutes earlier for an appointment 3 hours later. When asked is I could speak with a manager, the employee hung up on me! WHAT? When trying to call back, they refused to pick up the phone? We called from another number and when they picked up they were very unprofessional and threatened to charge 100%? This business is obviously struggling. They can't employ professionals, nor make money apparently if they are trying these tactics. I would AVOID this business at all cost, and if you are a licensed masseuse, I would recommend going out on your own; you will suffer working at a place like this. read more

I've been having trigger point massage therapy for over three decades. I have been thinking of switching to Massage Envy since last year including when I used to live in Tucson and there were shops closer to where I used to live. I've been here twice now and I am satisfied this location and my current therapist will work for me. I do like the extra waiting area that is not in the main lobby. I have not seen that perk before. Its a place to wind down and chill out before your upcoming massage without the commotion of the lobby. The payment plan that some reviewers mention is so complicated to me that I can't intelligently relate to you any pros or cons yet. I'm currently working through that plan. The staff was having trouble explaining it to me and I don't think they fully understand how confusing it sounds to a person that is not used to it. For now, if there are any negative issues about it, I will come back and edit this review and discuss. I can tell you that some, not all, of the negative reviews are from people that do not know how a massage hour works. You will never receive a full hour of massage. There will be a short time to review your history since your last massage, time to get undressed, time to get redressed and time for a therapist to prep the room for the next client. Beyond infuriating experience - nothing from the massage perspective, but all from the administrative perspective. I called to cancel my membership due to moving states and not having a positive experience with the local Massage Envy locations. When I called, I was informed of the outstanding credits I have (a decent amount) and if I was sure I wanted to cancel. I answered yes, I understand the number of credits but I really just want to get out of the commitment. The person said okay and she'd send me the paperwork. I did not receive the paperwork, but a few days later I received a message from the Director of the location asking if I really wanted to cancel due to the outstanding number of credits. I called back to explain that again, yes, I did want to cancel. My cancellation date is marked as when they finally sent the paperwork to me, which is within a few business days of my monthly fee, not when I initially called and was adamant I wanted to cancel. When asked if this mistake on their end could allow them to waive the fee for the upcoming month I do not plan on using, they said it's a "system error" and they have no control over it. To just rank the massages, I had a great experience, but the administrative side of the business was incredibly painful to work with and ended up costing me money due to their inability to send paperwork. If you go, don't get tied up in a contract with this business, as I guarantee you it will end up costing you more money. read more

This place is okay. The massage itself was great, Bre did a great job, but other aspects are leading to this 2 star review. I had a room near the front and during my massage I could hear the ladies at the front desk loudly laughing and talking for about 15 minutes of my hour long massage. It's really distracting when you are trying to zone out and destress, that alone will not bring me back to this location. There was miscommunication and they forgot my oil boost until the very end. I love Massage Envy in Plainfield! The front desk workers are super kind and very informative! The manager has been there on occasion when I was there and she helped me with some online issues. She is sweet and attentive! She also treats her staff well and keeps them up-to-date on the services they have here! They have done a fantastic job keeping the place clean and tidy especially during this Covid time! Each therapist I have met here has been amazing! They talk to you and get to know you personally to find out exactly what you need during your session. I also highly recommend the assistive stretch. I've never used a Massage Envy (mainly because an LMT friend of mine has shared strong opinions about the chain with me), but thought it would be a quick and easy way to get some relief from the traveling aches. I went to their web site, and used their online booking feature. When the form was completed with preferences and multiple time suggestions, I submitted without issue. I received an email confirming the request, and stating: "This request has been received and a representative will contact you shortly to schedule your appointment." So I waited for a contact via email or phone (both of which were asked for, and I provided). No contact. None. Nada. Zip. Thus ends my interest in Massage Envy! read more

Found this place online and booked an appointment. Received confirmation email and info told me to arrive 10-15 minutes ahead to fill out paperwork if first visit. I arrived at 9:10p for 9:30 appointment. No one was at the front desk. I figured they were in a session already. Finally at 9:30, I was about to try calling to get someone as still no one had come to the desk when someone walked up and asked if they could help me. I said that I was there for my appointment and she gives me a blank look. I show her my confirmation email and she looks on the computer and says that she doesn't have it and that she sent the therapist home. Not sure why they are still open if they sent the therapist home. She asked me to spell my name again and then she suddenly found the appointment but swears it wasn't there a minute ago and that I'd need to reschedule. I told her that was pretty frustrating as I had spent time and gas driving there and then waited over 20 minutes to be told I'd need to come back. I asked if they'd be able to give me a discount to cover the inconvenience and lost time and was told no. Guess they figure that while their time is worth $50 for 30 minutes, the 45 minutes I wasted isn't worth anything. There were openings at other locations that I could have gone to but now it is too late of course. I asked if the manager could call me. Hopefully, she will be able provide some reasonable customer service. read more

I have been with massage envy for over a year with the membership package . I loved Devin who did my massage each time. Some appts have been canceled due to covid and I completely understand and glad he is well now . I also had covid and so did my whole family. It has been hard for me to get in lately. So I stopped yesterday to put a freeze on my account . Since I had 5 sessions which one I gifted to someone. So I wanted to freeze my account then was told I can't use my sessions that I already have if my account was frozen . Really made no since to me at all . So I would ahead and cancelled my membership and have 60 days to use the credits ,I have . You would think they would be more understand with covid ,having kids , sports . I am a member and have only had Jean for my treatments. She is the very best; always is professional and takes the time to ask what is needed for that massage. Also, if needed she takes the time after the session to show exercises that can help at home. The staff is always polite and eager to assist. Stellar in all ways. This was the worst facial I have ever received in my life. She shorted me twenty minutes. She didn't do any extractions, she didn't give a head, foot or hand massage, which most facials include. She had long fingernails and cut my face. She clearly had no idea what she was doing, and essentially did a toner and then rubbed oil on my face for twenty minutes. It was very odd. I'm a monthly member but originally started my membership at the Avon location. My favorite therapist was at the Plainfield location today so I went there. The ambiance is more to my preference. The receptionist made me feel welcome, the salon is quiet and slower paced. More conducive to relaxation. Lamar is the best massage therapist I've come across in 12 years living here. I would try a different therapist every massage until I found Lamar. He communicates well and asks if it's enough or too much pressure. He is experienced enough that he can tell if you are relaxing and will encourage you to relax and let him do the work. He asks you if you are comfortable having certain areas of your body worked on before he touches them. I had 6 unused massages and have booked an appointment with Lamar in two weeks, instead of waiting months. read more

horrible service. when i called to book my massage, they didn't take a credit card to reserve the time for me. i was all set to head to the appointment the next day and got a call before left. the incredibly unhelpful, bordering on rude, woman i spoke with informed me that a) i hadn't left a credit card on file so they couldn't see me (um, not my fault?) and b) i should have been there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. point b didn't even matter because they cancelled my appointment anyway! and the screwup was on their end! needless to say, i didn't bother rescheduling. ridiculous. get it together. read more

I bought a giftcard here for a Christmas present. When that person called to make an appointment the staff was rude on the phone, but they made her an appointment for the following day. When she came into her appointment they told her she did not have an appointment and called her a liar. The front desk employee was sloppy, rude, and unfriendly. My husband signed up for a membership with Massage Envy in Plainfield IN back in August. They started the first account under her correctly spelled name. They lost this paperwork and started another account but spelled wrong. He emailed the website to cancel his membership because of not trusting the store to keep his information safe, financial and personal. A manager called him and said his cancellation was complete on 9/4, he has that voicemail. Everything should have been over as of that day. No more payments, no refunds. On 9/28/15 we had an auto pay drafted of 59.99. When we called they had no record of his account. After several calls we provided the last 4 of his card and they were able to locate the payment. This is when they saw that only 1 of his accounts got cancelled. There was still 1 active account. There should have never been 2 period. We spoke to the manager at the Plainfield store and she said this would be refunded. A few days later a Jane Daniel contacted us to say they could only refund $20. I'm not sure how this is justifiable since as of 9/4 we were told our membership was cancelled so how do we have to pay any more money past that date? We were told the refund would be issued on 10/2 and it just hit today, 10/16. I thought they were going to refund the 59.99 and it's only $20 We paid 49.99 on 8/21, 59.99 on 8/26 and 59.99 again on 9/28. There is no reason we should not have been refunded the total amount. He had no visits in September at all as we cancelled on 9/4. We are being charged for something we never used. read more
