I feel it's important for others to know how Massage Envy operates, it's extremely poor business with deceptive practices and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I strained my neck and scheduled a massage thinking it might help, but my doctor advised me to wait at least 7 days. When I called to reschedule, they told me I'd still be charged for the appointment even though I had a medical reason. To avoid losing my session, I agreed to keep the appointment and simply asked the therapist to avoid the strained area. But because I was honest and disclosed my injury, they refused to treat me altogether, yet STILL demanded payment for the canceled session before I could rebook. This company takes advantage of customers under the guise of "policy." Massage Envy is nothing more than a scam. read more

I've had really good service at this massage envy location. The office stay is always friendly and professional. Setting appointments is easy- some times I can even get in same day. Therapists are professional and trained. I've heard some customers complain about therapists not using enough pressure or too much pressure- something that could be easily remedied with open dialog. Yea I tried it a second time worst than the first. GO TO LAYTON RHE STAFF IS BETTER AND ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAG THEU ARE DOING. The massage was perfect. I was 10 minutes late to my appointment because I could have sworn it was confirmed for 2 (via phone call) but today I found out it was for 1:30. (I arrived at 1:40 thinking i was early) I didn't receive any appt confirmations via text or email so that didn't help. VERY DISHONEST- Bad Business My husband and I had an account for 3 years and only used it a handful of times. My husband went in and requested to close both of our accounts. He was only given a form for 1 account. He requested that they both be closed and thought they were both closed. We noticed a few months later (July 1) that they only closed his. I called in to rectify the situation, close my account and get a refund dated to when my husband closed our account. They told me the only way to close my account was to sign their form, closing it and stating that I would not seek a refund. I refused to sign as I wanted a refund dated back to February, when my husband went in person to close both accounts. Regardless of the they refused to close my account and kept billing me. Now understand that we already ate over $2,000, in services we did not use over the last 3 years, and that I have not used my account in over a year and a half. My husband went in in person and closed both of our accounts in Feb. of 2022. I called multiple times and was told a supervisor would get back to me. No one ever called me back, I received 2 emails stating to close it, I had to sign a form that stated I could not ask for a refund (July 16th and 11/11). They continued to bill me. I requested to close my account via phone multiple times, but refused to sign their form as I was going to reques a refund only dated to the day my husband went in. My account did not get closed until 11/29/2022 after I sent a please help to their online franchise (how did we do). I am not trying to scam anyone we already ate over 2 grand, that was our error. I just feel it is decent customer service to say hey there was an error when your husband came in, and only one account was closed we will be happy to take care of it, instead of charging for services that were never used and continuing to charge up to today. My husband and I had not used the account in well over a year. Not once did they say I could close my account in writing and did not have to sign their form. They sent me my contract today, 11/29/2022, where is states that I have to close it in writing, not one time time did anyone tell me this (they told me I had to sign there form). My account was finally closed today, and I was rudely told that there is no refunds in their policy regardless of the situation. I will indeed be more savvy in the future. read more

I have been to many massage spas and Massage Envy is the best. I have been a member for several years. Their front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. I am very active and need massage therapy 1-2 times a month or as needed. They have the best massage therapists. Richard is my number one choice for deep tissue massage. He's friendly, knowledgeable and really helps me find comfort when I am in pain. I also see Lindsey, she also provides excellent deep tissue massage and neck work. Seriously M.E. get your shit together. I tried to book a massage with you for my sister and myself. I'm a member with M.E. in San Francisco and wanted to use some of my membership credits. I spoke with someone at the Riverdale location who helped me pick a time but then she couldn't find me in the system. I graciously offered to call the SF location and then call back to finish my booking. Less than 5 minutes later I left a message, only to have my call returned to be told I could no longer book the appointment we'd set up. On my first visit to Massage Envy I did not have a great experience with the massage I got. (It was wayyyy too soft and I did not feel like I got my money's worth). After writing a detailed review here on why I gave them 2 stars they contacted me and asked me to give them another try. They got me in for a comp massage and paired me with a masseuse that would be a much more heavy handed than the first masseuse (as I said I was looking for a massage to get all of my knots out of my back/shoulders). They had paired me with Lindsey - and that women has MAGIC hands. Now only did she do what I had been looking for, she also managed her time greatly. After doing a thorough job on my back/neck/shoulders there was still time left over and asked me what she should focus on next. Lindsey was amazing and 100% saved my review with Massage Envy. She did such a great job I may go back to her for another massage in a month or so. read more

I showed up for a massage that I was told would be $90 and then all of a sudden they told me it'd be $180 unless I signed up for a membership, which would be $65 a month for a monthly massage which somehow got cancelled almost every time for the therapists "family emergencies" and then it's almost impossible to reschedule! I finally got out of my contract and it said I'd have 60 days to use my remaining credits, but then they made up some crap about how the manager cancelled all my credits so I'd have to pay to get them back. this place is the worst! never go there! read more

Alyssa was extremely amazing and professional! She gave me the BEST facial that I have ever had. She was so thoughtful of my skin and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire experience. She was so polite and knowledgeable about her job and what she could do to help my skin. She didn't push me into buying specific items or upgrading my sessions. She was willing to help me understand the best products for my skin that was within my budget. If you want to pay for a massage even when your not getting one this is the place for you. A good business can survive on there quality of service. They do have a few quality employees at this location. The business practice as a whole is terrible. They are more interested in getting you into a bad contract they making you want to come back. I was just not using it enough to justify paying every month. Instead of treating me like a quality customer they wanted to keep coming back. They pulled out its cooperate policy to treat you like crap and we have enough customers we really don't care if you come back. It's like dealing with the cable company or gym membership. This place is a joke. I paid 50$ for a facial plus gave the lady a 20$ tip and for what? This was my first facial and I was thoroughly disappointed. I had the sific Ali gone in for blackhead extractions on my nose and she told me I didn't have any blackheads.? What the heck lady are look at my face every single day in the mirror but I did take her word for it since it is her job. I thought I would go home and the next day feel a little refreshed and my face would feel and look better however that was not the case. My nose is still congested with blackheads and my face is extremely dry all around my nose it's ugly and uncomfortable and she definitely did not know what she was talking about. My first time and only time I read signs and advertisements about using work health savings account to pay for your massage. I asked if this is really possible? The front desk manager Jen said yes you can? I said "you've had no problems with doing that?" No we haven't. Then she proceeded to have me sign up for a membership that I would soon find out was in fact NOT COVERED by my HSA. I politely went in and spoke with Jen and told her how my HSA was not going to cover it and that I would need to cancel. I was told no I could not cancel. I protested but was told under no circumstances would I be able to cancel. "Oh even if you sold this membership to me under false pretense." She said "yes." I asked to speak with the owner and was told she was out of town. After another week or so she finally called me back and gave me the same answer but with the most unprofessional rude sarcasm I've ever heard in the customer service industry! I asked to speak with some one higher up then her and was told she would have them call me and I have never heard back. The next month When my HSA didn't cover it-massage envy took it upon themselves to charge my regular Visa card that had been used for a service prior to signing up. This was completely unauthorized use and is now in dispute at my bank. I say again don't trust or choose massage envy! And if you do make sure and only pay with cash or they may just continue to take money out of your account without authorization!!! read more

When I walked in the receptionist seemed genuinely happy to serve me, greeted me warmly by name and had a smile on her face the entire time. Their relaxation/waiting room was beautiful and comfortable. My therapist was amazing and was very knowledgable in pain relief and the specific areas that I requested to be worked on. Worst massage I've ever had! The therapist was 10 mins late first of all, and when she arrived she was so unfriendly. She didn't tell me her name, and was just not personable. She didn't talk to me through the entire massage- Not asking me how I was feeling, if the pressure was ok.. The massage itself was nothing special. I feel it is very important to be friendly, and reach out to your clients, making sure they're happy! Afterwards, she didn't ask how it was, she just handed me a tiny cup of water and left... I received a gift card for this Massage Envy location. The receptionist and massage therapist were friendly. I specified in the pre-massage paperwork that I didn't want my feet to be worked on, but she worked on my feet without asking. My other gripe is my massage got cut short. I was scheduled for a 60 minute massage, but only received just under 50 minutes of massage. I probably won't go back to that location. read more

Ive been a dedicated member with Massage Envy for almost a year now, and without hesitation, I can say that I have nothing but high praise. I only wished I had figured this out sooner. Their customer service is outstanding and the therapists are super professional and very skilled at their trade. The environment is perfect for a relaxing massage after a tough day of work. When we arrived, our appointment had not been completed and was only half in the system. All we were told was, "oh I'm sorry. OK this review has nothing to do with the staff at massage envy but is all about corporate policy that everyone should be aware of. I was scheduled today for a massage, last night the horrendous winds at my house lifted up a trailer parked beside my house and dumped it in between my parking pad and my neighbor's house. When realizing at first light I was going to have to at a minimum wait until the winds subsided to figure out how to move the trailer I called and left a message at Massage Envy to notify them of the need to cancel the appointment. I left one more message before I received return contact. I was informed they would be happy to cancel the appointment but my credit card on file would be charged a $15.00 cancellation fee. I asked if under the circumstances the fee could be waived and was told no that fee for same day cancellation is company policy. Ok, I could see if I canceled because of some frivolous reason but not something like this. My greatest need was to get the trailer moved and access the damage, a totally unplanned circumstance. So what if I had been in a car accident or other incident? I still would have been charged! Don't know about most of you but $15.00 isn't something to just toss in the wind. All too often anymore companies get so big they forget who got them there and customer needs go out the window, Massage Envy apparently being one of them. So again, nothing against the local staff but just don't die on the day you have an appointment scheduled the company will charge your estate for your not showing up. read more

This place conned us into signing a subscription fee but called it a "membership" don't be deceived by their wording. Then after bringing in a doctor's note that said that my subscription should be cancelled they said that they will continuously charge us until the payments are completely caught up. I ran into financial problems tried to talk to them and instead they sent me to collections as I ended up having to move and was in a transition of jobs as well. If you're booking an hour massage plan on 35 to 40 minutes max. If you book and hour and a half massage plan on an hour max. Most therapist will just rub you with their forearm the whole time to your whole body. Very unpleasant and seems very very amateur. read more

I woke up the day of my massage with diarrhea and called to let them know I wouldn't be. I received a lecture about how I needed to let them know at least 24 hours in advance that I couldn't make it. I asked to speak to the manager but unfortunately I was speaking to the manager. She continued to lecture me about giving more notice about missing an appointment because it wasn't fair to the massage therapist. Really someone who is ill and can't get off the toilet needs to be lectured. I can't wait until my year contract is up so I can cancel it. read more
