So I booked my appointment for my facial for my daughter and I. It was my first time there and saw that the pricing was $60 for the service. NO ONE explained the price difference to me on member non member pricing so I fully expected to pay $120 for both of us and paid double that. I was using a gift card that was bought for me to even try it out!! It was enough to cover the full amount. Sure my facial was great but after the price difference I come away thinking about how terrible the whole experience was. Great stress relief? I called and spoke to the manager on duty who simply repeated the pricing to me and said there was nothing she could do. Wrong 100%. She doesn't care about her customer because I came away with stress which I'm pretty sure Massage Envy would like to pride themselves on people feeling stress free after their experience!!!! She has a real talent for loosening the tightest of muscles, my body hasn't felt this good in a while! I already am going back in 3 weeks and can't wait. This place, and especially corporate MASSAGE ENVY is the worst. They are a scam when it comes to the monthly membership massage deal. My mother was a member for years and accrued many 1 hour massage vouchers over the last year because she can no longer use the vouchers because she is 92 and can not drive anymore. She gave my wife and me each 1 voucher(2 total) to get a 1 hour massage. We scheduled this (50 minute, not even an hour) massage over 3 weeks ago and I verified on the phone that this was fully paid for and there was no additional fee. The lady on the phone looked in the computer and said yes, we have your names in the computer for the 50 minute massage. So the big day for massage comes, we pay for a babysitter for 4 hours, drive over an hour (which is the closest MASSAGE ENVY from Monticello) go inside, fill out 10 minutes of forms and agreements and then she says, oh, there is no credit or voucher for the massages for you. I explained the whole thing, she goes in the back, come out and says I spoke to the manager (on the phone, because there wasn't one present) and she said there is nothing they can do and we would have to pay $70 each for the massage. That was definitely scheduled and paid for months before, and verified by the incompetent worker over the phone when we made the appointment. Now me and my wife are so mad and disappointed, and I tried to explain again, and said why would they have our names in the computer when we called if there was no voucher? There is definitely 2 valid vouchers,, because my sister just used the one she received a week ago at a different location. The worker behind the counter said, "there is nothing I can do". So we leave very frustrated and drive home over an hour. And still had to pay the babysitter fee, and gas money, and almost 3 hours of waisted time. I will never get my wasted time or money I spent back. This is the worst service from a multi million dollar corporation that I have ever received. Very dissatisfied. We told my sister when we got home, and she said "they are incompetent idiots" and sent me the email that has the verification showing our 2 valid vouchers from Massage ENVY corporate office. From the very beginningg I had problems with this spa. They are extremely difficult to work with. I have been to Newman, GA, Mt. Prospect, IL, and Mishawaka, IN, where I have been treated respectfully and they have always worked with me to make my experience with them pleeasant. Not so Valparaiso. My final dealing were after I told them I wanted to know my hours left. They sent me an e-mail which I still have, stating 6. I tried to give my son a massage in Parker, CO last Sunday. None of the 3 near him could get him I in. I paid the $10.00 for a transfer and they will not give that back to me. I will close with the final paragraph from their membership manager: If down the line you are able to return to us as a member I can certainly see if there would be something that we could do for you. It is very hard to get an appointment at this location. I had signed up for membership price and upon canceling was charged for a remaining month per their contract. After being charged again I booked an appointment and was not able to use the credit they had already charged for. The membership is a scam as it is hard to get an appointment. When you do get an appointment many times they cancel them. I would not recommend getting a membership at this place. Was very happy with the message therapy. Be aware of their membership cancellation policy. 60 days everything you have paid for expires. I was unaware of this and attempted to use some of my paid for messages (3) after the 60 day period. The manager was not willing to work with me or give me any credit blaming her unwillingness to give me any credit for messages I had paid for on the "computer" and "corporate policy." When you sign up they do not explain the cancellation polity except having to give a 30 day notice. After 2-3 years I cancelled my contract and gave my 30 days notice. Apparently my 30 days does not apply. If I give a 30 day notice that means my contract ends 30 days later. Apparently it is 10 day notice which they do not tell you. Then I went to use the rest of my credits and was told I would be charged membership rate until end of 30 days they charged my card. Then they send me a text and tell me they have to charge my card the noncontract rate which is double and reverse my member price to my card. I spoke to Cris the store manager and she says why would you get to keep a membership for another 30 days I told her because when you give 30 days notice it does not end for 30 days after I date the termination was signed. She said that is just for their benefit not ours. I let her know I will pay her to member price and not more than that. Then says are we done here. Very rude and disrespectful. read more

5/25 update: per the suggestion by Massage Envy below, I sent a message through the website provided. Have not heard back. I called yesterday and spoke with Chelsea who would not tell me when Jess will be in and took a message. I called today and left another message with Angel. Again, she would not tell me when Jess will be in. I resent my cancellation form to Jess and reiterated that their refusal to process my request in a timely manner is unprofessional. We are a military family and my husband recently retired and is in-between jobs as he adjusts to civilian life. We had to make some economies and I SHOULD NOT have to explain these personal issues with them but here we are. Messing with a career veteran and his family is NOT OK. I will update again, particularly if I have to get our military legal services involved. My rates are going up...again, so I decided it was time to save some money and cancel my appointment. I'm sick this week so I asked my husband to go pick up a cancellation form. The assistance clinic manager, Angel, would not provide it to him and said that Jess, the Cancellation Manager, would call me. I called the location when he returned home empty-handed, wanting to know why I have to be called to cancel an account. I was told, by Angel, that Jess would call me when she had time. No, I want an extension for Jess and a full name to write a complaint to. Angel would not provide me any more information, only that Jess would be in, in the afternoon. I had to ask further to find out when Jess would be in (3pm). Then after hanging up I get TEXT MESSAGE that Jess won't be in until 3pm TOMORROW and won't I have a great day?! No, that is not how you provide good customer service - you don't avoid and evade your customers. I was going to just cancel; now I'm writing reviews too. Very upset. Also, tried to get a facial a couple of times but no one would ever call me back. In all, this location has had enormous turnover in the 5+ years I've been a member. I received a gift card, It was purchased at the Orland Park location, it was for $220, it was explained that it was a special for 4 massages, this was not the case, the first massage is $50, but it then goes up to $90 dollars, so basically the $220 doesn't even cover 3 massages. You pay for 60 min but get 50 min, If you don't join their membership program prices are way above what you'd pay at other local establishments. I have no complaints about the actual massage. I have gone to this location for a couple of years and have always loved it. I went this wk for a facial by Erica and it was awful. I wanted a basic relaxing facial and that wasnt what I received. She started by asking me lots of questions about my skin care routine and told me that I was doing it all wrong. Okay! Then she had me lay on the table and looked at my skin. She told me that I was dyhdrated and I take horrible care of my skin. Not exactly relaxing at this point. She said twice that she was sorry to be rude and blunt but I need to learn how to take care of my skin. All I wanted was a relaxing facial. So she talked about how I was and what I had going on in my life. Then she talked about herself and how she doesnt have custody of her kid and on and on. She voiced alot of opinions on subjects and I started to feel uncomfortable. Then out of nowhere she called the pandemic a "fakedemic". It was just completely inappropriate to say in her position. Im a RN and she has no idea if I have lost someone to Covid, or if I had taken care of Covid patients. Completely rude. At that moment, I wanted to leave so the rest of my facial was terrible. I tipped her because thats me being nice despite how I felt. she also convinced me to buy cream for my awful skin because I felt terrible about how I dont take care of myself. Not impressed at all. An hour massage is 50 minutes with 5 minutes to get undressed and 5 to get dressed. If you take longer than 5 to get dressed they are knocking on the door! My neck was severely injured after receiving a hot stone massage. I have experienced constant neck pain, lack of range of motion and headaches since July. When I reached out to them to address the issue, they initially seemed interested, after I posted to their FB page, but have since stopped responding to me completely after the initial "We will forward your information." First of all my massage was scheduled for an hour, which I was jipped on because the therapist ended 5 minutes early!! Which I knew the second I looked over at the clock. They do not use any essential oils in the massages and if you want one infused they are 10 dollars extra, a total rip off! As I have heard great things about the facials I would never recommend getting a massage. The place looked nice walking in but after getting back into the room it's nothing fancy and not worth the money. I have had many massages at Massage Envy in Valparaiso (I have not been ro any other ME). I have felt better after each one. I have seen 3 different massage therapists. All 3 have been professional, polite and have listened to my requests. Each had slightly different techniques (or maybe I should say styles?), each excelled in their own way. (One should expect that as everyone has their own personalities.) I highly recommend Massage Envy. Yes, they may be a bit expensive, but I have never seen it dirty and the atmosphere has always been relaxing, from the time one walks in the door to the moment one leaves. Over the years, I have had massages at several other places (not just in Valpo) and I would rate ME as the overall best. As for other people's negative comments about time used for undressing/dressing, first, they tell you about the time for dressing at the first, so, there is no surprise. Secondly, I usually try to wear clothes that make changing easy (I think this should be common sense.). Thirdly, I have not been anywhere that dressing time has not been incorporated into the allotted time frame. I received a gift card for my birthday to come here and after a year of waiting I scheduled a facial with an add on of a foot massage. The atmosphere was relaxing and the employees were friendly, welcoming, and professional. It was clean and inviting. And it was the best facial ever! I left feeling like a jellyfish! Although, I am not a member, I will be going there again soon for more relaxing me time! I take care of patients every day and I finally took care of myself and have never felt better! I have had two massages so far at this location and am an experienced spa-goer at other venues. So far both my visits to this location were below average as compared to my experiences at other venues. I will go back to this venue next month since I bought the membership and hope it gets better. Specific issues: staff were noisy in the hallways during my massage making it difficult to relax - laughing and joking and calling out to each other down the hall; I specifically asked NOT to have my face and head massaged and it was done anyway; ten minutes talking and time to undress at the front of appointment is not necessary.....and then five minutes at the back end of the appointment make an hour massage only 45 minutes; in one session I specifically asked for Swedish massage with concentration on my back and received literally seven minutes on my back while a ridiculous amount of time was spent on my legs and there was very little use of palms and forearms and TONS of painful gouging with thumbs.....which should never be done in general but especially when Swedish is requested; lotion and hands were cold for both massages which is a total rookie mistake; etc.... read more

Best massage I've have ever had. I have herniated discs in my back, so it takes little or nothing to strain a muscle. Woke up one morning about a week ago with pain in my back; felt like I pulled something or slept wrong. A week later it was significantly worse. Nothing I had done had made it any better. I saw the advertisement for the first time special and decided to give it a shot. When we were done, the pain was bad, and I was hurting. I knew, however, that it was necessary pain. There was pain because he had loosened everything up. Twenty four hours later my pain has gone from an 8 out of 10 to a 4 out of 10. Phill did exactly what I asked him to do. He was very thorough. He was very knowledgeable. He did stuff that no masseuse has ever done to me before, I believe that was what helped yield such significant results. I would recommend Massage Envy to anyone.
