On a Thursday I booked a 90 minute massage online for the next day, Friday. When I booked it, it said the cost was $120. I never received a confirmation phone call or email. Went to the massage on Friday and only after it was over, was it stated the cost was $195 - because I have been to a Massage Envy within one year. It is absolutely ridiculous that I was not told the price would be anything other than the $120. THAT IS FALSE ADVERTISING!! The manager would not do anything to discount the price or provide me with another service to make up the $75 difference. This customer service is terrible. I would never have booked it for that price. If my price was going to be different, I should have been told prior to the massage. She told me she would talk to corporate and did call me back later that night only to tell me again that there was nothing the company would do about it. Then I was forced to pay because they already had my card on file and "could not discount it." That has to be illegal; it is stealing from me because I did not agree that price. I was told repeatedly that contacting upper management would not make a difference in resolving the issue because they would just kick it back to her and there was nothing she could do. Sent this message to "corporate" guest relations only to have it kicked back to the same manager I dealt with at the appointment, and she still would not adjust the charges. Just kept asking me if I wanted to sign up for a six month membership! This place is an absolute joke. They don't return phone calls and have zero interest in customer service for members who are locked into a 6 month membership. You can't get your money's worth because they can't provide a schedule, and they don't return phone calls when requesting a refund. I want to start off by saying Ginta is a wonderful massage therapist. She absolutely knows what she is doing and has helped me many times. In fact, I bought the package specifically because of her. However, intermittently I have had to either pause or cancel it due to health issues or , in one case, an accident, before being cleared to resume with her. Recently, I was unable to make to of my appointments with her. One was last minute because I had an emergency, the other because I was very sick. Thankfully I was not Covid positive, but, cancelling appointments was far from the forefront of my mind. Yet. Even though I am on their wellness package and had been told I would be able to use it towards the appointment when I made it, they charged me. Moreover, the charge was twice what I was told I would be charged above and beyond my package. I spoke with the manager who simply fell back on the tired excuse "it is in corporate's hands" and that she couldn't help me in doing anything about the charges. It's truly sad. I have been going there for over 2 years. I really cant say enough good thing about Ginta. But this manager I spoke with could use some customer service skills. Rule #1 in customer service: get them back through your door. Her lack of empathy, repeating the same thing like eventually I would comprehends d just gleefully accept it (I did get it. I simply felt she ALSO needed to listen and take culpability for her employee) and her over all impotence as s manager passing the buck to "corporate" leaves me thinking much more favorably about the several other places, closer to my home, who are NOT corporately owned. Great member benefits: $45-$65 per 1 hr session. I am busy and often need same day service that I usually get. Good massages with professionals that give you exactly what you need. "Is the pressure just right?" Didn't know what the assisted stretching was about, but I tried it. Wow. It is like yoga, but the therapist does most of the work; just breath and concentrate on letting go of the tension. I had been in such muscular tension pain that I couldn't sleep. I signed up for a year of massages hoping for some relief from tight muscles. It took me a while to find just the right massage therapist. I thought I wanted deep tissue, but initially that was too much for me. I definitely enjoyed the massages from Jon, Rita and Tina, but I found my match in Chris. He does deep tissue work and will work hard on your trouble spots. I never found the long lasting relief that I had hoped for, but I sure enjoyed the massages. In addition to massage, I tried their assisted stretch and facial. I wasn't a fan of the facial, but the stretch with Therese was really nice. Unfortunately, a herniated disc (not related to anything at Massage Envy) stopped me from being able to have any further stretching done. I have been receiving deep tissue massages for the last couple decades. Today, I feel as though I found my forever masseuse, as well as the location itself. Lisa was my therapist. She had the most effective therapeutic technique you could ask for. The facility was beyond quiet and serene( I can always hear people in the halls talking or passing by in OTHER parlours). The table was nicely heated and I was given soft shoulder supports(while in the face down position) for proper alignment. I will be driving the extra distance to return to this location and I made sure Lisa gave me her availability. Great experience. read more

I quickly called and Katie picked up the phone. I asked if she had any appointments open asap and she said YES! She was extremely accommodating and I had an appointment in the next 30 mins with Lisa. Lisa asked what was wrong and truly listened and understand what I was explaining. I have gone to numerous massage spas and after I never felt like I got what I really need. Just a standard massage. With that being said Lisa provided honestly one of the BEST massages I have ever had. She didn't bother with my legs (which I wanted) and spent 90% of the time on my shoulders and neck area. She found the exact pressure points and at the same time still made me feel relaxed. Terrible service. Made up policies. Do not sign up for the membership program. I accumulated 4 massages and wanted to cancel my membership because I hadn't had time to use it. I was told I have 1 month to use my 4 massages. Which is ridiculous. They are already paid for. And there is no where documented that says that. Anywhere! Completely made up. Then I had to sign a cancellation form that says I have 60 days! I pointed this out to the manager, and she says it doesn't apply to me. Then why am I signing it?! After I signed it, she crosses out 60 days and puts 30 days. Illegal. All she had to do was honor the contract that THEY wrote. Don't bother with this place. And anyway some lady gave me a massage here and it might as well had been a pat down with lotion. Terrible, all around. My message therapist was great -- to which I would give a solid 4 stars. Chris was very easy to guide into my preferred pressure and focused on the areas we outlined before beginning. However, I had some issues with the actual establishment. If you read my reviews, you know that I am a Massage Envy member. I have been to four locations since May. This was my first massage in over two months due to medical issues (and a genuinely busy few months) so I was very excited to have all my stress melted away. Checking in was rather uneventful. I was seated in the relaxation room when I noticed it -- a Republican funded magazine on the table. I'm not talking a People Magazine article on McCain. I'm talking a magazine all about being a small business conservative, highlighting all the evils of the Democratic party. It was a total turn off. Now don't get me wrong, I would have had the same reaction if it was a Democrat produced pamphlet. The bottom line is that I am there to escape the stress and drama of the outside world. I think it is pretty irresponsible of them to place political literature on full display for perusing while you play me music of babbling brooks. I quickly took measures into my own hands and tossed it in the nearby garbage. After my message, I went to the front desk to take care of gratuity. The woman argued with me as to if I'd paid for the session or not. I stated very clearly that I had two session credits per my membership. She told me no. It wasn't until another employee came over and fixed the glitch in the computer that she stopped arguing. And after that, no apology. I thought this was pretty unprofessional. Customer service is a big part of the equation here. They need to work on that. I cannot say that I simply won't return. Because at the end of the day, I thought Chris did a good job. I have been a member of massage envy for a few years. I have only visited the glen ellyn location but they were full this week so I went to Wheaton. I cannot really say how the services are as after I checked in, I sat in the waiting room for 10 minutes after my 10:00 appointment time with only one person asking if I needed help. I consider myself the sommelier of massages (as much as you can make that metaphor work) and have been going to spas, health clubs, etc for services for well over a decade. So today when I decided I would indulge myself with a little relaxation and pain relief I chose to try a new place I hadn't been before. My massage therapist was Pat - I mention this because if you have never experienced a deep tissue massage - here is your chance. The ambiance of the establishment is off, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I believe it is the corporate franchise mentality. Everything was exactly where it needed to be to give you a peaceful experience, they had a seperate quite waiting area off of reception with a large flat screen playing ocean scenes, comfortable furnishings, and a long hallway full of dozens of treatment rooms on the way to the large, and meticulously kept bathroom (with one of those great bowl on a surface sinks). See, that was the problem for me, it was too kept up, too manicured, too clinical and not warm feeling - could have been the choice of colors which were not inviting, I don't know. The treatment room was small, as they usually are, but devoid of any personality, cream colored walls - again not inviting. I don't remember any music. The massage was not relaxing for me, but I am a talker - and was already experiencing pain in certain muscles - my belief is though that hte atmosphere was really partly to blame. From the large, hollow reception area that echoed loudly to the tiny colorless treatment area. I waffled on the rating because the massage was not half bad, I left feeling less pain in my knee, but it just was not the amazing experience that I am used to. 12/24 - Tried this place one last time because my back was tight. What a crappy experience. I waited (I walked in so the appt was to be at 1:30) and waited in their lounge, watching their beaches DVD. What seemed like an eternity rolled on, I even went to the loo 3 times - now I knew it was long - I go out to the desk to a surprised look "Are you still waiting?" and wow it is now 2 pm a half an hour into what should have been my massage. The massage was weird, the therapist quite creepy the way he arranged the sheet like making a bed with a flourish so my ass was exposed a lot, and half the time the rocking technique felt like he was humping the side of my body, and he kept humming - totally creepy!! read more

Massage Envy doesn't have an overtly new agey type vibe which is refreshing. I was pleased to NOT be hit by the overpowering scent of incense when I entered the door. The ambience of the establishment isobviously neutral in order to accommodate all types of clients. Massage Envy makes it safe for anyone, regardless of age, gender, or religious beliefs, to experience the therapeutic benefits of massage. Another benefit of Massage Envy is that you have the option of trying several different therapists until you find one that accommodates your personal requirements. The boy got me a gift card to Massage Envy for my birthday a few years ago. I tried out the location in Naperville, but had some serious issues with it. The were way pushy about getting me to sign up for their program though I kept telling them that I just wanted to use my gift card. Then they said they would charge me over double the amount to finish using the leftover amount on my gift card the next time I came in if I didn't sign up for their program. I told them I would think about it... I didn't. I was put off by their pushiness. I wasn't too impressed with the therapist either. She didn't do an overall analysis of the terrible shape my muscles were in and after beating on me pretty good I felt like poo the next day. Fast forward a couple of years, a friend of mine was telling me that she loves the Wheaton location. She gets great service and the therapists know what they are doing. It's not to far from work, so I decided to check it out. The ladies at the front desk were really great. I told them I had an old gift card I wanted to use, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to join. I wanted to find the "right" therapist before figuring it out. They set up my appointment with Peg who had experience with people with my issues and said that we could chat about payment after the massage. WOW! Peg was awesome! I've been a member at Massage Envy for about 6 months and I must say, I've been quite pleased with all my experiences here. Whenever I walk in I am greeted by a chorus of "Hello's" from the front desk staff. That always makes me smile and puts me in a good mood. Every month I get an hour and a half - two hour massage with David (he is really amazing at deep tissue massages). In one session, he has completely relieved me of the shoulder pain I had been experiencing for the past few years. I've also recently taken up running and I get all the typical aches and pains that are associated with being a running newb. David is really good at finding my problem areas and working the tension out of my angry muscles. I always leave feeling like a million bucks. I've also recently started getting facials with Jennifer once a month. At first, I wasn't sure about getting a facial but I figured that my skin could use some love and it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Jennifer is great at what she does and while she works her magic, I get to relax for an hour. In my mind, I was never "that kind of person" to get massages. Too busy, too low maintenance - I never took the time to take care of myself. I finally decided to give it a shot after chronic migraines had me literally tied up in knots. John is AMAZING! He did such great work on my first visit that it actually convinced me to sign up for a monthly membership. He customizes the massage for exactly what you need, and you leave feeling so relaxed and wonderful. As a bonus, he is always so upbeat, cheerful, and full of positive vibes! The monthly membership has been a great reminder for me to take time out of my schedule at least once a month to take care of myself. They do have options to freeze your membership if you need to (up to 3 months, I believe), and after a set amount of time (I signed up for 1 year), it becomes month to month so you can cancel any time. I have heard that they are under new ownership as of 5/2015, so I'm not sure if any of that is going to change, but so far I have really enjoyed being a member. They do also offer little add-on's on occasion, such as scratch off card promotions where you can win free upgrades, and a free extra 30 minutes on your massage for your birthday (you do have to ask for this, though). read more

I never believed in getting massages until I signed up for the membership and went regularly. I see Monica every few weeks and her hands have magic! She's very good with asking where I'm comfortable and if I feel relief for any tense spots. The staff is generally attentive, friendly, and quick to fit you in if you need to get in ASAP. The reason I took off some stars here is because there are a few therapists that are extremely aggressive and have left me with bruises (I'm naturally tan so for me to see multiple bruises, they really had to dig). Even after asking about how the pressure feels and me asking the therapists to ease up, they didn't really change anything. Yes, I've gone to other Massage Envys in the area, mostly because my regular therapist here has gotten so popular you have to make an appointment with her a few days in advance, but this is by far my favorite location in Chicago. The front desk people are extremely nice and inviting. Even when I haven't been in for a few months, they greet me with a smile and ask how my daughter is! This location still has a members relaxation room, which I always appreciate. As a mom, this monthly indulgence is usually my get-away time where listening to crashing waves and dripping water is exactly what I need! I usually gravitate toward the therapists who specialize in deep tissue and I haven't been disappointed yet! The front desk ladies have even given some great recommendations on therapists to try, based on the ones I've liked in the past. Overall, I love the Massage Envy chain. There are quite a few locations in the Chicagoland area, where I can really get a massage wherever I am (on my way to work, in the suburbs, or in the city). I even love the fact that I can visit a location when we go on our annual California trip, with no hassle whatsoever. I like her deep pressure, although she will adjust the pressure to whatever you want. Her "deep pressure" isn't too much for me. Definitely a worthwhile monthly investment! (I'm on the monthly plan) The facility is pretty basic, but the cost is very reasonable compared to other massage spas. (Do a little research and you'll find that's true.) For one she LISTENS to your needs and caters her techniques to you, you will not get the basic cookie cutter massage from her. I've never had a massage - a little creepy to me, but after weeks of neck pain I gave in. When I set the appointment, the receptionist went through the people and their specialties. When she said Chris was heavy pressure and good with deep tissue, I chose him. It was the right choice. He brought muscles in my back to life, which have been hibernating for years. Chris is totally professional making what I thought would be an uncomfortable experience, very comfortable. My neck feels a little better and my back feels amazing today. I give this 5 stars because Amanda and Burt are amazing here. The first time I came sometime in 2013, i had an hour massage. Did not enjoy it because my masseuse did not listen to what I requested. I don't even remember her name. Hesitant to come back a year later after getting a 6month membership. Scheduled my first appointment just looking for a basic massage. Burt was amazing. We did an hour and a half and he worked out my huge knots on the tops of my shoulders. Didn't speak much and I was in full relaxation mode. I will definitely be returning to him throughout my membership! Amanda and I only worked on my lower back for 30 min. She and I talked a lot but I didn't mind it because we related and clicked. So, I received a gift card. I was happy, as I need and hadn't had a massage in some time. I call to book the appointment. I tell them I have a gift card and believe me, I knew it was going to be an issue. First off, they tell me the $55 gift card is for one hour which is fine being I hadn't had a massage in some time, I am fine with that, however, they go on to tell me, I pretty much need the $83 massage, so I can "talk to the therapist" for an extra 30 minutes. I am already turned off. Then the "gratuity is not included on your gift card", to which I at that point rudely says, "well no kidding and I figured", she says there is a gratuity. She AGAIN mentions it is SEPARATE. Mentions it about 5 times total. I have never not tipped a technician in my life. Just because I was given a gift, I mean, really? Then, she says "to book your massage, I need a card on file". To book one massage, to which I have a gift card for, no sorry, I don't like giving my card number out, I have never done that at any place, even high end places. So I have a gift card I will not use. What a waste. I told the giver about this and they said "well, then they lied to us too". This place is a crock. I was very interested in starting a membership at this location, but due to the terrible service I received it will no longer be an option. I was gifted a prenatal massage by my dear friend, who thought massages would help with the pain I have been having from my pregnancy. Unfortunately, I was horrified by the tone and service provided by the manager on duty. She was extremely rude and not accommodating to my condition. She was unable to answer any of my questions with direct answers and repeatedly tried to end the conversation due to her lack of knowledge. Ok, so I have been going to Rasa K for some quite time. She was great in the beginning but after couple times after my visit I couldn't understand why so dramatically she change the way she did her massage on me. #1 she never stops talking during my session (then she was asking me if I would come to her house to get my massages, she explained how she works from home and can make more money instead of paying the company ) Well long story short I am an owner of small business myself I would never do that to the company I'm committed to go to. #2 she's so unprofessional at what she does that I can't even explain. # 3 In my opinion she should at least have better hygiene, she has such of bad bo. Anyways I'm very disappointed in her professionalism that I will take my business else where. I found a new massage therapist name Jonas,he is just amazing at what he does.
