Massage Envy - Naperville East (1212 S Naper Blvd) I've been a member at this location for a while, and while the massages themselves are excellent, the policies and booking system are incredibly frustrating. They seem to have far more subscribers than available massage therapists, making it very difficult to get an appointment. Despite this, they continue to charge my credit card monthly without fail. Right now, I have 10 unused massages in my account, but I'm unable to book any appointments until I update my credit card information--even though I've already paid for these sessions. It feels like I'm being held hostage in a contract that prioritizes billing over customer service. It's disappointing to be stuck in a system where you've paid for services you can't access. That said, when you can get in, the massage therapists are truly skilled and the experience is great. I hope Massage Envy reconsiders how they manage subscriptions and availability--it would make a huge difference for loyal customers. read more

They don't deserve even 1 star. I was charged $1,500 since January 2021 and only allowed four 1 hour services. Every time I call them for appointments, they say they are booked for 4 to 6 weeks and have appointments available only after 4 to 6 weeks. If you try to cancel your subscription, they will ask you to pay for 2 months. Cancellation is not easy. You have to sign papers etc. I talked to Manager, explained my situation and she said, I have to pay $20 to keep the account frozen for 6 months only and then she will allow me to use my previous unused services. They don't have google review turned ON because they know they are going to get bad reviews. Very unhappy with them. They took almost 2 years worth of money from my account and only gave me 4 lousy services. And I was their returning customer. Imagen what they will do to their new customers. read more

On a whim, I decided to go in for a facial after moving to the area. I made my appointment in the morning and was able to get in in the early afternoon. Very convenient for a guy whose schedule is never the same. The intake was very thorough and the gentleman doing the intake was very friendly. My facialist was excellent and very professional. She used the Murad line on me for hyperpigmentation. My skin improved every day after the facial. I was very impressed! read more

I've got to be honest... not a fan. Just okay. I know that my expectations had to be lowered to hit up a chain like this. I knew it was a business and that I needed to just try and enjoy the massage aspect and separate the business side of things. But I just can't. I used a gift card and received a $50 massage for 50 minutes. Pretty standard. I scheduled and they called to remind me. Great. I showed up and filled out paperwork and someone came over to talk with me about massages in general and my symptoms, etc. It felt a little weird as I'm definitely not new to massages. They asked if I wanted water-- very nice touch. The place smelled good. Cool points. I went back and the massage started. Despite requesting a deep tissue, the masseuse did not deliver. She said she'd start out medium and we'll see how I like it. Well, she never checked on me to see how I liked it. Ever. SO I didn't get a deep tissue. I'd rate it a B for a regular "Swedish" massage. In addition, she agitated my shoulder knots and didn't work them out (like a deep tissue would've). Instead, when the massage was over, the masseuse met me in the hallway with a cup of water (nice), her business card with her hours (not necessary), AND TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TENSION IN MY ARMS AND TWO KNOTS IN MY SHOULDERS. Why do you think I scheduled an HOUR massage? To have you tell me afterwards that I have tension? Obviously! What was I supposed to do about that now? ARGH. In addition, messing with the knots caused me more pain when I left as they had been agitated. And don't worry... in my "relaxed" state, they didn't fail to high-pressure salespitch me into trying to become a member. That was NOT relaxing and I didn't appreciate them basically trying to force me into a contract. Of course I didn't sign. But seriously? Anyway, it's a business and I needed to keep that in mind. I guess you can't separate the sales side of a business that is meant to bring you relaxation. If you have knots-- don't bother. Just go to a more high-end place that will assuredly deliver their deep tissue (with a higher price tag) or just go to the chiro. read more

I used to be a member of ME years ago but discontinued my membership because the quality of masseuses is lacking. ME has focused on getting a spa on every corner that they can't find QUALITY masseuses. The last couple attempts have left me very very dissatisfied, enough to learn I will not attempt again. Today I was desperate. Made a same day appointment and told the gal I did not want just someone that had a schedule to fill, but a talented masseuses and I needed 90 minutes. She assured me that David would be a good match. Ha! About 10 minutes into my 90 minute session I kept telling myself to just end the session and get up and leave . I thought, he's got to get better and I stuck it out. Absolutely NO technique. He could not follow a muscle group to save his life. He basically rubbed oil all over and that's about all I got out of it. I have been getting quality massages for many many years and I know when they have technique and actually understand the bodies muscles and how they react. My gal that I normally see (she comes to my house) is in her final month of pregnancy and I did not want to ask her to take care of me when she needs to take care of herself. Next time I will wait and never will book a same day appt with any spa. Word of advise, before you accept an appt , ask how far out the person that they are trying to schedule you with to see if they have a loyal client base. If they have openings today, tomorrow, etc, then they don't have return clients. One and done! read more

I've tried several Massage Envy franchises in the western suburbs and have received consistently good service at this location. There have been at least four massage therapists here who delivered really good deep tissue and stretching therapy. The downside to going to a place like Massage Envy is that you can find a fabulous therapist, but then the next time you call they have moved on with no forwarding address so to speak, and you have to start all over testing out new people. The upside is that there is always someone available when you have knots the size of footballs in your neck and shoulders. The front desk staff are professional and nice, and great at finding out what type of massage works for you and suggesting someone to try. The facility is attractive and clean with a small modern waiting area. The walls in the treatment rooms are too thin. Sometimes you enjoy your massage while listening to the groans and laughter of clients and therapists nearby. Kind of creepy but tolerable. What is worse is the canned "relaxing" massage music piped throughout the facility. It is truly awful, even more-so than usual for the stuff that passes as "music" in spas. I wonder how the therapists stand it all day, but it could be easily fixed. We need a Yelp rating system for acceptable massage music! read more

My massuse (Peter) couldn't have had the pressure more on point! He was awesome. Focused on where I asked him to and made sure that the pressure was ok for me. After speaking with my mom, she said that her massuse nailed it as well - we were both very satisfied. Not only were the massages good but the customer service was very friendly as well. Do not go for prenatal here. They have messed up scheduling me with prenatal trained therapists 3 times forcing me to reschedule due to there mistake. I filled out a consent form and asked each time for a female prenatal therapist. They also told me wrong info on canceling a membership which resulted in me buying another month to use up my credits. So upset at how this "relaxing" experience ended up. We were members for years and with the former owners who seem to have not run all very well. We could never get in for weeks and when we would find a great therapist & get appts that worked for our schedules they would end up leaving. We saw it getting. Better with the new ownership, but still decided to cancel our membership since scheduling was so hard. My husband had like 8 1/2 services that he could not get in in the time they allowed. I called the manager to ask for a short extension- she said she would call corporate and get back to me- that was almost 2 months ago!!! What a waste and poor customer service. Unfortunately this was my home location even though I preferred Naperville North location where the manager was more positive and helpful. I made an appt for my husband's birthday gift - a surprise. They booked 9am instead of 9pm and when they called me at 9am looking for him (luckily I gave them my # so they didn't ruin the surprise!), the best they could do was 8pm. They reserve 9pm slots for members. What?! Then, he was running late (which is why I originally tried to book 9pm for him!), so I called. They said he should just try to be there by 8 & they'd do paperwork after the appt. They still couldn't move the appt later. I signed up under the promise from the manager that I could cancel anytime from anywhere without encountering fees. I went for the first couple of months but each person I got sucked. Every time I walked out, I felt worse than when I got there. It was like someone took a meat tenderizer to my back. I had been through four different people and had enough. I received a job transfer to Dallas and thought I might have better luck there. I found a good masseuse but she was never available so I just gave up. I called to cancel my membership but the girl on the phone told me I had to wait for my membership to lapse- so I waited. Once the time was up, I called asking them to cancel. They told me I had FAX a letter in. FAX?! Who uses a fax anymore?! I asked if I could email it, or just call it in verbally and they said no. They told me I could come in to sign the paper ending my terms. So I went to a Dallas location, but they said that I had to go back to Naperville to cancel. I called to explain the situation and the staff who answered the phone told me there was nothing she could do. I had to come in and sign a form. I live in Dallas, remember? Since I was going to Naperville on business in a week, I postponed. I showed up, signed the form and left. The next month I was charged again! Signing up with these guys is a nightmare! They can't give you a straight answer, they give you the run around and keep charging you even after you've ended your membership. This location (and chain) is horrible. read more

I went in for a two hour massage with a therapist named Daiva (pronounced Diva)... I definetly dont recommend Daiva (Diva) to anyone. I had to ask her 4 times to increase pressure. I have had many massages and I have NEVER had to ask a therapist to increase pressure after explaining to them I like deep tissue massage. She actually told me no at one point because it was a 2 hour massage she said she didnt want to hurt me. If it was hurting me though I wouldnt ask for it. While the rest of the staff at this location is friendly, Daiva is not a therapist I think any one should waste their money on. Your massage wont be what you want and you will likely have to direct her hands the entire time and tell her how to rub you which takes away from you relaxing like you should be. read more

Massage Envy is a great franchise. I've had consistently good massages from a variety of therapists. I have found it to be a good deal if you want to get regular massages. Just one caveat for anyone considering a membership - they make it very hard to cancel your membership and you may end up incurring charges if you don't cancel at the right time. Like most, it's a buyer be ware situation and one that I found a little baffling when I have consistently found them to be an excellent bargain. Disappointing. read more

The problem I had with Naperville east location and Naperville north location (which are owned by same owner) is that I was told in the summer of 2017 I had like 12 sessions for a credit. So I thought I should use these, meanwhile continuing to charge every month also. January comes and I have none. How does this happen? Management and there method of statement clarity is POOR! I decided to quit and get statement to make reason of this all. I showed the management they were indeed off with charges as far back as i had record. Unfortunately couldn't go back all the way to the beginning of my membership. Management after many calls and attempts to resolve kept passing the buck to someone that really did not care and had no customer empathy and answered me what are you looking for? Also the desk personal had poor skills in giving change and giving receipts, never happened. i feel management should learn from this situation because soon after this I meet a person that they lost 10 sessions.
