It's painted bright white, with NHS-blue trim, and looks like a warehouse at worst, industrial at best. But the inside is bright, newly-decorated and very clean. It's an incredibly spacious pub, divided into two halves. The first half, when you walk in the door, has a bar made of gorgeous, carved darkwood, looks like maple. The fixings are all shiny with pretty gilt, and there are plenty of tables and chairs -- rarely do people have to stand. The second half is just as large, with two pool tables and a smaller bar, and more simply decorated, with plainer tables and chairs, but still clean and tidy. The pool tables are full size and very nice. I like this pub for not just its extensive offering of both national and local ales, but also because they offer a wider range of liquers and spirits than most local pubs (namely, a drink called Tequila Rose, which tastes like a strawberry milkshake). This is a more quiet pub, especially during the week, with not much on, just a few locals and some music over the jukebox. The food is very decent, well-prepared pub grub at reasonable prices, with nothing soggy or seemingly defrosted. On Friday and Saturdays, this place is packed to the gills, especially on karaoke nights, and with a few local bands.

Trendy without having to try too hard, friendly and upbeat staff, the management team got it just right when they set this place up (free drinks always welcome if you read this Dave or Andy!) Its been a few years since its last refurb but still looks fresh and inviting. The beer garden is brilliant (and packed) when the sun shines and has just the right balance of open space and enclosure from the high street. You do tend to find (as with most bars in the town centre) that the age group is predominantly 18-22, however I am 34 (yes and proud of it!!) and I do not feel out of place and like an oldie in the way that I do for example in Yates's wine bar. Dress code - understated cool, think jeans and a fave top, and accesorize up , rather than full on club gear. Labels abound - but not obligatory. Music varies but mainly your typical dance tunes, coupled with drum and base and some mainstream. Reasonable sized space on the dance floor for throwin a few shapes if that's your bag - the staff tend to encourage this and join in with gusto. Always a party atmosphere to be had, very little genuine posing, and a no hassle ambience. A little known secret is their food.. pop in for your lunch on a weekday and you will find that its good value, excellent quality and the portions are on the whole very generous. I had the linguine the other day and it was enough for three!!. Also DO come here on a sunday for your good old roast - iin my opinion its unbeatable in Tamworth for value, portion size and a good laid back atmosphere. The Atlantic Fish Bar is probably the best fish and chip shop in Tamworth, or around for some…read moremiles. Their batter is light and crispy, and much better than other chippies I've tasted. They are only open until 2pm for lunch, and then again at 6pm for dinner, so make sure you don't leave your lunch chip run too late. The staff are really funny here -- really friendly, joking about with each other, and making the customers feel really welcome. They aren't the most efficient fish and chippers around. There is an understanding amongst Atlantis' customers that it may take longer to get served here than other shops, due to the silly banter and general camraderie. The queue is always quite long, especially on a Friday night, like most similar shops. From the size of the queue, it's easy to guess how popular this place is. The haddock and cod are really lovely, the chips are nice and fresh, and the chicken kebabs are to die for, if dying for a kebab is your sort of thing. I personally don't care for the Friday night fish n chip run, but being married to an Englishman, I make my sacrifices, with the caveat that if we get fish and chips, it's from Atlantic.
