It is quaint and cosy inside and you really do feel like you are in someone's home. The staff were really friendly and we were seated and had a bottle of wine ordered and delivered quickly. I had the scallops wrapped in bacon on black pudding with balsamic vinegar, this is one of my favourite starters, so I just had to try it. For my main I had cod, I rarely order fish but it was really nice. My boyfriend had the lamb shank and it was delicious too. I then had the raspberry cheesecake with sorbet for dessert, again this was really good. If you're ever in the area forget anywhere else and go here!

The Lakeside Bistro is a popular place and as it is not huge in size, it's a good idea to book, even during the week. The staff are warm and friendly, which adds to its popularity, some people have a meal here every weekend! The menu has expanded of late for Sunday lunches, offering other dishes, as well as the always popular roast dinners; with the Venison Pie being my particular favourite. Most of the dinners come in two portion sizes too, standard and for slightly less money, a portion with diners with a smaller appetite. As well as the tapas you can choose a meal from the normal menu which is ideal if you are in a group and not evryone wants tapas. The restaurant area is very nice and although there are 2 different rooms, I prefer the room at the rear (especially if you are there for a romantic meal). The food is superb, we couldn't fault it. Try the homemade ice cream for pudding - it's delicious. The only downside that I found was that they tend to overcrowd an area instead of spacing diners around. My husband took me out there recently and we were seated between a rowdy crowd of business men and an equally rowdy crowd of women, which isn't really what you want.
