I now live in the Brunswick/ St. Simons area since 2009 and am a vendor in flooring after taking a break and have seen David from time to time in this market. I see these reviews that appeared at a time when the flooring business was in distress for lack of flooring installation and it's not the David Lee I have known for nearly 40 years. The sub-contractors he uses are the worst I have ever seen and their work (if you can even call it that) is terrible. We purchased a home this year that remodeling was done by David Lee for the seller. We have fought tooth and nail to get the final work that was part of our contract to be completed - to no avail. He will not even honor the one year builder's warranty that was promised - which I feel sure would be horrible anyway! He has no conscious! I have called the county building department concerning him and they will not say anything outright (due to their position), however, enough was said between the lines to know the building department thinks he is a shyster - my word not theirs. I also called the Georgia Building Commission to complain but found out his license "expired" and is "pending renewal"; they would not comment on the reason. This man needs to be held accountable for his actions (non-action) and the lack of craftsmanship from his sub-contractors. I feel pretty confident, the sub-contractors he uses for his business, Island Floors and Remodeling, are the cheapest and least knowledgeable people he could possible find. Legal action needs to be taken against this man and I am considering my options with this. DO NOT use David Lee or his business or you will find yourself in a total mess with no recourse except the legal system - which I doubt will be able to recover anything from him!

BC Construction Review…read more I would highly recommend against using Ben and Christa Clark of BC Construction to build your home. If you are purchasing a home they built, I would recommend you conduct an independent home inspection from top to bottom of everything to include a survey to ensure the foundation was not placed in a way that would encroach on a neighbor's property. I experienced a significant number of severe defects in the home they built for me. They generally did not acknowledge their error nor in most instances voluntarily address the issue. In my opinion, most issues were completely ignored by the Clarks. Additionally, I have been made aware of multiple other clients of Ben and Christa Clark that have had experienced similar unaddressed build defects whose homes are in Yacht Club, East Beach, as well as, several in Lake View Cottages where they live. If you decide to allow them to build your home I would highly recommend the following: 1. Get a copy of the plans they intend to use...get an independent architect to insure they have actually provided you with the correct plans for your home. Document through email that they verify that they have provided you with the correct plans. DO NOT TAKE THEM AT THEIR WORD. 2. Sit down with them and do a feature by feature review of the home to ensure everything you expect is included, as well as, discuss the level of finishes you expect to be furnished with. RECORD THIS MEETING (Tell them you are doing this for the protection of both parties.) 3. Require they conduct a survey BEFORE the foundation is poured. Review that survey to ensure they put the foundation within the setbacks far enough back that neither the foundation or the siding, once added, will encroach on your neighbor's property. 4. As required by GA law, ensure they provide a STATE REQUIRED warranty PRIOR to beginning the work. Additionally, ensure the warranty they provide actually meets the state requirements. 5. Keep records of all calls, texts and emails between yourselves and the Clarks. I would highly recommend recording all calls and meetings with the Clarks. I have found that, whatever the reason, communications and decisions you have made with either of the Clarks may not get to the other or be disregarded in totality. 6. Ensure you have a means of redress in your contract that you can live with. Have an attorney review your contract to ensure it protects you. 7. Ensure that all deadlines, build schedules and a contractor list are provided prior to having them begin on your home. 8. Question/Review every draw and require a detailed invoice that includes materials and contractors that completed the work be included. 8. I WOULD NOT TRUST THEM AT THEIR WORD. While I would not recommend using BC Construction, I believe that by following the above recommendations you have a better chance of surviving intact a build or purchase with Ben and Christa Clark of BC Construction. www.bcconstructionssi.com (912) 634-1333
