Not many people know this, but you shouldn't call yourself a "master engraver" if you can't do hand engraving. People spent YEARS to learn and earn that title, and there aren't many of them left. It's a dying art. I am sure if you want something basic, and don't mind laser engraving, you could come here. But if you want to have your pieces hand engraved, this is NOT the place. I came here not knowing they don't do hand engraving, and paid for the service up front. I called to double check on the piece and happened to ask if it would be hand engraved. He said "No. Good luck finding a hand engraver," and refused to issue a refund since he already "started to work on the piece." A partial refund was NEVER offered. I took the piece back in the same condition I dropped it off (thanks God), so I am not sure what exactly he worked on. I was able to find a REAL master engraver, and I am so glad I did. Ask yourself this, why would I bother to drop off an item to a place that doesn't do hand engraving if that was what I wanted to begin with? It was never communicate with me that they don't offer that service and I only pulled back my item after I call to confirm that they got my artwork via email. At the end of the day, we FOUND a REAL master engraver and couldn't be happier. read more

This place has solidly, only 5 star, legit reviews for good reason!!! This was my first time getting anything engraved. I had Master Engravers engrave a happy retirement message on a vintage brass desk clock that I brought to them that was to be a retirement gift for a colleague. The customer service: Welcoming, down-to-earth, friendly, professional, good will / good vibes. The cost in my particular case: In the $50 range (a flat fee), paid upfront, for a desk clock that I brought in. About 5 short lines of type. The end result/ the work: Came out perfectly, beautifully. They live up to their namesake, and truly are "Master" engravers. hahaha. Headsup: They don't do "while you wait" engraving services. So, you'll have to inquire about what the lead time will end up being for your particular project when you have the consultation. In my case, gratefully, it ended up that they could have it done / ready by the next day (by the morning). If you need a hard good engraved-- (they also have items in stock that you can choose from/ purchase from them and have engraved, examples: trophies, medals, wine glasses, wooden boxed poker sets, statues, timepieces, etc.,)--, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this place. We needed a quick turnaround for a 1st annual team awards ceremony. Being a local to Falls Church City, I walked over to check out the available merchandise. I had absolutely no idea what to look for: trophy, plaque, etc. After a few minutes of poking around, Eric suggested an etched beer mug which fits perfectly with the theme of our team. He also had our specific font on hand (which is pretty rare, actually) so I was able to send him a basic file of what we wanted and he took care of the rest. This is a great local business with excellent customer service. This is definitely more of a high-end type shop. While you can get run-of-the mill trophies and awards, they also offer a of higher end items that you can personalize for corporate awards or wedding gifts. So I'll say that the prices are a little bit on the higher end, but you are supporting a local business. The owner has been there every time that I have stopped by and he is always friendly and helpful. He's flexible and on timing and definitely wants you to be happy with the product. It's a bummer that they aren't open on Sundays any more, as that's why I originally got my trophy from here. All in all, though, this is a great local business. read more

I recently used this place for a fantasy football last place trophy. They were great. I provided Master Engravers with a porcelain statuette and they guided me through the various options, including advising me against drilling through the base of the statuette out of concern of it cracking. They also gave me a host of base options and did the engraving. All in the league are quite pleased with the end result, which is rare in a league where we can't even agree on trade deadlines. I bought my husband a very expensive watch for his Christmas/ son being born/ anniversary present - all in one. I wanted to have it engraved but had been told by several engravers over the phone that it might not be doable depending on the metal. I brought it into Master Engravers, Inc. and was told traditional engraving was not possible but that he could do another type of engraving which I call "frosted" engraving. I don't remember what it's technically called, but it's cool! I didn't even know it was an option and even if traditional engraving was possible I'd still choose this style. It's like the white frosted letters that you see on glasses. The owner was very personable and easy to talk with. He explained everything to me and we bounced ideas back and forth because I wanted to put a heart on the watch as well. I picked up the watch today (Monday) and the engraving is great!
