Master Hunter and his staff are so attentive and caring with all of their students…read more The facility is top-notch and well-maintained. The instructors are highly disciplined and professional at all times. The staff take their time to ensure that students and their families stay informed about policies and feel comfortable at all times. There is no push for students to advance faster than they feel comfortable. I love the different class times that are available and the breakdown of age groups. You will enjoy the family environment. It is a multicultural learning experience that my family has enjoyed fir decades.

Our daughter started attending classes at Tiger Academy Martial Arts approximately 2-3 months ago…read more It was a decision that came with a lot of deliberation. We have had some incidences on the bus, some things at school, some things at aftercare. All things that definitely upset me as a parent. Things that made me just want to shrink myself and put myself into her pocket so I could pop out when necessary. I know that's just not possible. After these Incidents we talked to officials at all places. They try their best at all these places. Unfortunately they just cannot be everywhere all the time to keep other children from acting like arses. Witty comebacks and telling the teachers, officials etc is just not enough in today's climate. We came and checked out Tiger Academy of Martial Arts. Staff is super pleasant and attentive. We did the two week trial. We watched the classes and talked to our daughter. We decided to sign up for classes. A couple of weeks ago an incident happened at school during lunch. Two children (one a play date friend) one a classmate. One pushed her. One was talking rude and accusing her of cheating at thr game they were playing. Let me tell you what happened: She not stood her ground. She calmly spoke to both children. She called the one on his language and cheating accusations. Calling him on havingngame rules he told no one. She calmly talked to her friend who pushed her and told her flat out. Not to touch her physically because no one has the right to do that to anyone. What happened was a shock to me. Both children actually responded in a positive manner. They were all able to move forward. When she came home and told me about the incident I have never been more proud of her. She told me that stood up for herself because of Tiger Martial Arts. She said what she learns in class helped her feel confident enough to handle the moment. Between the student creed, classes the amazing Sensei's and staff , home practice and friendship and family atmosphere, we have definitely landed in the right place. What our daughter was able to do in the moment rl is priceless. It's a step towards a positive correct direction of not taking any shit off anyone. I highly recommend checking them out. It could change your kids life.

Hello friends,…read more Honest Review and the mistake was on my part. This business is not an MMA academy. There are no black belts. This gym is for kids and for self-defense. TTL/DR * Please note that you get exactly one free lesson before having to sign up. Not every location is like this. Many locations give you several days or a week worth of free experience before signing up. It is very difficult to determine if a place is right for you if you get simply one day of experience. * Inflexible Refund Policy: Management strictly enforced contract terms and refused to refund $250 ($100 fee + $150 prorated charge) after a medical emergency permitted attendance at only one class. BUT they did wave the 30 day notice charge for the following month's $170+ monthly fee (includes a military discount.) * Hostile & Unqualified Instruction: The head coach employs an abrasive, sarcastic, invalidating, and publicly embarrassing training style, holds only a white belt in Jiu-Jitsu (unable to promote adult students), and utilizes unpaid assistant coaches. You should consider this gym as a self-defense gym and not a MMA academy with highly qualified trainers. * Poor Facility Quality: The gym utilizes low-grade mats that cause immediate, severe skin burns when practicing BJJ/grappling. * Better Regional Alternatives: Prospective members are advised to seek alternative MMA options in Virginia Beach (Eastern Academy of Mixed Martial Arts - 25 years in business), Generation Jiu-Jitsu in Portsmouth, or Da Firma Jiu-Jitsu in Greenbrier--the latter featuring month-to-month billing, no sign-up/termination fees, high-ranking instructors. All these locations have superior mat surfaces. ***** Note: I expect a response to my review that may or may not be of a high quality criticism as is mine. My review is for the benefit of potential members and not intended to be an attack on individuals themselves. Rather, this review is intended to be empirical and anecdotal based on my experience. I went to 2knuckles 3 years ago. I attended classes for approximately 3 months (6 days a week and attended basic MMA, advance MMA, and BJJ sessions - with a black belt BJJ instructor) before breaking three ribs. I ultimately stopped because the pain (and the behavior and teaching style of the owner) and how long the healing took. After 3 years I started thinking about joining back up and so I did. Unfortunately, I forgot what I didn't like about the gym. Nonetheless, when I got there not a single person from 3 years ago was still there. I suspect it's because in of the complete change and structure and teaching but I cannot be sure. The black belt BJJ instructor is no longer there, nor are the BJJ students who went to 2Knuckles strictly for BJJ lessons. Muay Thai is no longer available and the students who wanted strictly Muay Thai training are no longer there. The head coach is not qualified in either disciplines but does demonstrate knowledge of both. * Regarding management: I find 2knuckles to be etremely rigid and non-negotiable management. I signed up, attended exactly one class, and unfortunately underwent emergency dental surgery that made training impossible. I requested a refund for the $100 sign-up fee and a $150 prorated charge for the remaining 4 days of the month (4 days for $150?). Management refused to accommodate this medical emergency and simply sent back the contract. While they technically followed the paperwork their absolute lack of flexibility or goodwill in an exceptional circumstance speaks volumes about how they treat members. Note they did wave the 30 day notice and therefore did not not charge me $170+ for the following month. While the business chose to strictly enforce its contractual terms to retain $250+ for a single session, the leadership's approach to an unexpected medical situation was entirely rigid and self-centered and lacking administrative courtesy and consumer empathy. Prospective members should be aware of this strict stance on extenuating circumstances before committing financially. * Coaching: The head coach demonstrates a consistently abrasive and brash communication style during training sessions. Interpersonal interactions with clients are characterized by dismissive sarcasm and a generally hostile demeanor. Rather than utilizing constructive feedback, the coach employs public reprimands that cause unnecessary embarrassment and invalidation to individuals within the training environment. Furthermore, the coach's instructional approach frequently manifests as rude and unsupportive, prioritizing a confrontational delivery over standard professional guidance. This ongoing pattern of behavior reflects a lack of basic interpersonal courtesy and creates an unprofessional atmosphere during class instruction. If you want a Marine style boot camp this is the place. There are several other unpaid coaches that are more laid-back, but, to my knowledge, none of them hold belts.

Beautiful layout. Wonderful group classes and personal instruction is always available…read more The equipment is well maintained and they have an awesome collection of free weights, machine assisted weight machines, and the track that circles the main floor for walking and running. The staff is very welcoming and it is a comfortable place to workout no matter what time of the day you decide to workout. These bad boys came ALL the way up to my THIGHS! The gently compress my feet, and legs to help improve circulation and reduce muscle soreness and improve faster muscle recovery ‍. These compression sleeves are a total game changer as far as my fitness goals go. Incorporating this recovery treatment into my weekly workout routine will allow me to recover faster and achieve my goals quicker! I came back on a separate day to try out the Red Light Therapy which is supposed to have so many benefits including cellular repair, help with pain, inflammation, some say it aids in toning the skin and even with Weightloss... so hey why not... ‍. It was my very first time having a Red light therapy session. I didn't know what to expect. It was a bit warm but not overwhelming. I did make sure to have water and kept hydrated. Keeping clothes on or fully exposing your skin to the red lights was completely optional. I personally felt like it was a very pleasant experience and felt energized after my session. I will definitely be doing it again! All for an additional $10 a month... sounds like a steal to me.. Can't wait to check out the other features of the Recovery Room like the Res Light Therapy...
