Beautiful layout. Wonderful group classes and personal instruction is always available. The equipment is well maintained and they have an awesome collection of free weights, machine assisted weight machines, and the track that circles the main floor for walking and running. The staff is very welcoming and it is a comfortable place to workout no matter what time of the day you decide to workout. I think the monthly fee is very fair for the amount of equipment, classes, and personalized services it offers. read more

I had the pleasure of trying out the Recovery Room located in Chesapeake Square in Suffolk, VA, hafter a Brutal Leg Day and let me tell you that my experience truly felt Spa Like! !!! This Recovery Room is not only is spacious but felt like an oasis to truly recovery after giving it your all in the gym. The HydroMassageChairs were so RELAXING ! A easy to use touch screen panel allowed me to adjust the pressure of my massage and target the areas of my back that I needed to focus on. I also used the Compression Sleeve Pants.. These bad boys came ALL the way up to my THIGHS! The gently compress my feet, and legs to help improve circulation and reduce muscle soreness and improve faster muscle recovery ‍. These compression sleeves are a total game changer as far as my fitness goals go. Incorporating this recovery treatment into my weekly workout routine will allow me to recover faster and achieve my goals quicker! I am looking forward to seeing how incorporating the recovery room into my workout regimen will help me see my results a lot faster. I came back on a separate day to try out the Red Light Therapy which is supposed to have so many benefits including cellular repair, help with pain, inflammation, some say it aids in toning the skin and even with Weightloss... so hey why not... ‍. It was my very first time having a Red light therapy session. I didn't know what to expect. It was a bit warm but not overwhelming. I did make sure to have water and kept hydrated. Keeping clothes on or fully exposing your skin to the red lights was completely optional. I personally felt like it was a very pleasant experience and felt energized after my session. I will definitely be doing it again! All for an additional $10 a month... sounds like a steal to me.. There are so many amenities such as the pool, hot tub, separate women's gym, weights, red light therapy, and hydro-massage. It is very accessible for those with disabilities. For anyone reading this review, please don't be misled by OneLife's typical public responses acting as if they care or will make things right. That's just for show--to save face and continue recruiting new members. Before I ever posted this review, I already addressed the situation in person with a representative at the club, who showed complete apathy toward my concerns. After that, I sent two emails to the corporate office and never received a response from the Chesapeake Square General Manager. Instead, someone from the Greenbrier location called me. I had no interest in speaking with them--Greenbrier may run a decent gym (for example, the Norfolk location is excellent), but that doesn't excuse what happened at Chesapeake Square. Please don't bother replying here acting like you suddenly care. You had your chance to fix this. You chose not to. Own that. What's frustrating is the complete lack of basic critical thinking from your staff that could have prevented this situation entirely. It wouldn't have been hard to contact the handful of members who rent executive lockers, especially considering the gym keeps track of which locker number belongs to which member. Instead, when locker repairs were done, and my family happened to be home sick with the flu, you emptied my executive locker and, after just two days, threw away the contents--including a $130 Rogue weightlifting belt and other personal items. Let's be real: with how often your staff stand around instead of doing basic tasks like refilling towel dispensers, someone could've easily taken three seconds to bag up those items and put them back in the same locker, or at the very least, notify me. But clearly, that level of customer care wasn't a priority. After over 10 years of membership and paying for executive locker services, this is how it ends. You shouldn't call us "members" because it's obvious you don't actually value us. To top it off, equipment is frequently broken, and towel dispensers are constantly empty. I've already canceled all of my memberships and have been actively encouraging everyone I know to switch to Crunch. Save the fake concern for someone else. Oh and also it had been like 80 degrees in there recently so fix your AC problems! read more

My thoughts on today's aqua Arobics class....... Nicole was an amazing instructor with a great knowledge of what she was teaching today. From the moment I entered the pool area she was smiling and interacting with the group of ladies in today's class. She gave us clear directions for each move and clear information for how long we would participate in that move. She combined moves upper body and lower body. This was an excellent combination to help us with coordination and stamina. We used equipment that we were familiar with, but engaged with it on new ways. She explained the muscle groups we were working on and offered alternatives for us if needed. Not only was the workout challenging, but Nicole clearly gave us us follow up for after our class. Hydration, good nutrition, movement throughout our day, a reminder to always stretch and advice to get plenty of sleep. These health goals are always welcome and shows Nicole's desire to really make a difference in my health journey. This has been the BEST Thursday aqua class ever. I have the best trainer there is. I love working with Leo. He listened to my concerns, and he continually adjusts my workout for my success. Not only is he my instructor for floor workouts, he is also teaching me how to swim. I hadn't swam in over 40 years. Now I am able to swim a minimum of 10 laps. Through his feedback, I am able to self correct my form and technique when I swim and workout alone. His personality makes my workouts pleasant and enjoyable. Was in last Monday night. Relatively busy night. There is an ongoing issue with the sani wipes being out. On the whole main floor, only one(by the theater door) was full. all others were empty. This is not uncommon. An employee was seen once walking through, checking for garbage. Paid no attention to wipes. I don't see this at other locations but consistent at Chesapeake square. Well not off to a good start. Tried to get some support as a new customer and the customer service is horrible. Too many new gyms popping up around here for a new customer looking for a friendly to help answer questions and tell me more about the gym. Lost me at the jump. The only One Life in Hampton roads that is this low quality. Most of the Machines are extremely dated and can result in injury and maintenance is a forbidden word here. I would check out other gyms just not this location. read more

This gym is in very poor condition. My girlfriend and I have been members for close to a year and its on a steady downward spiral. Every time we come something else is broke. On average half of the treadmill's in the cinema are out of order,the bikes and ellipticals are in terrible condition and rusty due to the fact they can be somewhat hidden in the dark. The pool has been closed for close to a month, and its overall rundown. We have seen no new equipment from the $120 they took from us in December minus the ceiling in the pool area being renovated to get rid of the vast amount of rust. We will be hesitant on renewing our membership on and would advise anyone thinking about joining to do a thorough walkthrough of the facility. read more

I started taking swim lessons last month at the Chesapeake Square location. It's my first time learning to swim. I expressed my interest to learn to the instructor Leo and shared my nervousness. After my first two lessons I thought, ok I got this. Uhmmm it got a bit tougher after that. Leo takes his time explaining and demonstrating what I will learn to do next. Each time I think nope my body will not do that and sure enough with his patience and skill I have been able to start swimming. I like it so much that I joined the gym so that I can practice outside of my class. If you want to learn too with an expert whose patient with a gentle push to help you achieve your goals reach out to Leo. I'm still learning and meeting other swimmers who are experienced and others just starting out like me. I'm enjoying it more than I expected! read more

This is the only Onelife in the area (that I am aware of) that has a steam room. Despite it being further away from my current residence I make the trip for that and that alone. My issue is two fold. On more than one occasion I have been locked out when using the outside area in the back (where you can use the tires or kettlebells etc.) and the Staff did not seem to be that concerned even when I had to call the front desk to let me back in. Second, this Onelife still has not embraced scanner technology with Apple/Google Pay etc on smart watches or credit cards. It is a bit baffling. Especially with the health concerns of last year and this year. I must say it is pretty frustrating to go back to your vehicle to get cash at 5 in the morning from the female or male locker room because you want to spend money in there on the items that they sell. I hope some of these issues can be addressed? I will revisit this review at a later date since I truly do love the Onelife brand. read more

One life fitness definitely gives me scammer vibes!!! There's always an extra fee, hidden agenda, extra charges. Months ago I cancelled one of my members so my payments could be 29.99 vs the 60 something I was paying. This month I'm charged $98 for a yearly fee or whatever but for two member's! Now why would it be two members when I was told one was cancelled! Corporate don't have any body you can talk to you can only communicate through email, they take weeks to email you back when it didn't take weeks for them to overdraft my account! Whole establishment is pathetic honestly! You have to pay all this money to cancel your membership like the shit is stupid! I never had this many problems with no other gym ever! read more

This is by far one of the best gyms I've been a part of! Besides the equipment, classes, pool, saunas, free weight space, and all the other amenities the best thing of all is their Kids Club! They promote the kids to be active with a giant indoor play place, basketball court, space to run, and separate areas for the littles to play with age appropriate toys and another spot with chairs and a table for the older ones to color and do homework. The ladies in there love on your kids and make sure they stay safe and have fun! Sometimes I'll take mine to the indoor splash pad they have by the pool after a good workout! The whole gym staff is amazing too and will address any concerns you may have! That's why I not only love being a member but I love training there too! read more

This is a bangin A$$ facility! From the smoothie bar at the entrance to the indoor & outdoor turf sled spots this is an amazing location! Quick access to the interstate & plenty of parking, equipment & shower stalls. This is the preeminent OneLife gym that all other branded gyms should model themselves after! I'm going list form today: Basketball Court, check! Racquetball Court, check! Pool, check! Hot tub, check! Sauna, check! Steam room? Yessir!! Cinema Cardio Room, yeah buddy!! Cables! Cardio! Circuit machines! Plate weights! Squat racks! Deadlift platforms! Smith machines! Trap bars! Spin class! Body pump class! Yoga class! Boxing or Cardio kickboxing (essentially Tae Bo, no exclamation point for Tae Bo). The only thing they are lacking would be the heavy bag for the boxing or kickboxing enthusiast. Also they offer a kids club pseudo daycare, so at least there's that. Ladies only room? Yes Ma'am!! For those that want some privacy they offer a ladies only space so they feel comfortable with their environment & don't have to deal with any objectification. Thumbs up from me! Can we get a fat guy room, too? Whenever women are staring at my belly I have to tell them "my eyes are up here!!" ;) My only criticism would be the lack of mats for core work, but they offer many alternative solutions to my oh so dire problem. I've got them as a 4.5 star facility due to the lack of a heavy bag which I've seen at their other locations as well as the slightly lacking core work & stretching space. They're still the top of the heap based on their organization & flow of their space. Kinda weird there's no hand dryer or paper towel dispenser at the sinks in the back of the locker room, but I guess if you're that far into the locker room you probably have a towel read more

I live in Northern Virginia but my daughter goes to college in this area so we visit frequently. I was looking for a gym with a temporary membership. Surprisingly few have them. But Onelife has a reasonably priced week-long membership so I can workout even while away from my home gym. Onelife has plenty of machines for cardio, strength and weight training. So this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to gym memberships. Off and on I have probably been a member of about 6 or 7 gyms. I've even had memberships to gyms I never stepped foot in one time. So needless to say I have never been really serious about fitness. The idea of working out seems good and then I just don't follow through. Fast forward now I'm in my early thirties and my metabolism is slowing down. I had recently been going to the Rec Center in VA Beach during lunch time but that just wasn't convenient anymore. Originally they didn't have childcare so it was difficult for me to commit to them but now I hear they do have some form of childcare. Anyway back to One Life. A friend of mine is a member and seemed to like it and said they had childcare so I decided to give it a shot. I signed up around New Year and got a great deal for myself, my husband and my son. We are able to bring him with us to the kids club. He LOVES the kids club. He asks everyday if we are going to the gym so that he can go there. They have a play area like a McDonalds with the large tube slides as well as a basketball court. Your membership also allows you to use all the different clubs and kids clubs at the alternate facilities too. As far as myself there is tons of equipment so even during peak times you will be able to grab a machine. They even have a Cardio Cinema with additional machines in there and they play really good movies. They have 2 weight areas and even a women's gym for ladies that prefer it to be a bit quieter while they are working out. I don't use the bathroom or locker facilities but I have been in once and its clean. They have a pool area that even has a kids side that looks like it would be a lot of fun. I enjoy the class selections and the fact that there are classes during times for people that work. So many gyms have classes 9am through 5pm and not much offering on the weekend. Like seriously? Is that catered to professional gym goers because people with jobs and families need different times. All in all I am very satisfied with this gym and will be a member for a long time coming. read more

This would be a GREAT gym. Nice staff, etc. if only they could do some climate control? It's 76 degrees in here at 1030pm. The sun isn't out. It's 78 degrees outside. Is there a reason why One Life doesn't permit the evening crowd the "luxury" of air conditioning? It's not just a matter of comfort. I wouldn't complain if it was only like this once in a while. But it's not. It's the norm. Plus, I'd rather earn my sweat instead of just dripping with it because I showed up. Also.... Hey- fix the lights in the parking lot. We signed up for private swim lessons and picked the time based on the availability of the coach. The instructor, Stevie, doesn't show up and doesn't even bother calling or texting to reschedule. He makes excuses that he can no longer do the time we agreed upon but then doesn't even bother trying to work with us. TERRIBLE customer service and terrible experience. Waste of time and total disappointment for our kid. The pool is also small and the play area of the pool is totally rusted. Really regret this experience. read more

Plenty of parking at this location even some up front next to the building parking. Upon entrance of the building you get a nice welcome from the desk within steps of entering. The childcare was on one side and the cafe/smoothie spot on the other. You get a great view of some of the equipment behind the desk as well. I love that this location has two levels because with all the equipment I saw on the first floor I could only imagine what was upstairs. My class for the day was Bodypump and it was located upstairs. Body pump for an hour was an exhilarating workout. It is offered at different times and I'm not sure if I would like it to start my day or finish my day. As with any workout you are provided with modifications and your in charge of your weights. People go to the gym for a variety of reasons whether it's to lose weight, build muscle or gain strength. One Life is no different in that they are a facility offering services to help people change their way of life. I didn't interact with a lot of staff but, the few I did speak with were helpful. The gym offers a lot of classes, in addition to their weight equipment, a pool, a women's only workout area, and racquetball courts to name a few. I would like to visit this facility again as I know that with multiple workouts is the key to success. As long as I can find a class around my schedule and with all the opportunities I saw provided it would make a great fit in my healthy lifestyle changes. read more

The facility recently opened so it is still new and clean. There are plenty of equipments both upstairs and downstairs so even when it is crowded, you don't have to wait. OneLife also have several spacious and open classrooms on the second floor for early morning yoga and other aerobic exercises. There are big windows to allow natural lighting inside and it also provides beautiful outdoor scenery. Although I do not participate in these classes, the option does exist for me, which is comforting I guess. Another really cool thing about this gym is that they have multiple indoor movie theaters where you can bike, elliptical, and do treadmill. Generally, I prefer doing my cardio out in the open in public view with everyone else, but occasionally I would peek inside their theater to see what's playing and who's hiding there. I have yet to try their pool, but judging from the looks of it, the pool is very children-friendly. There is this contraption on top of the water slide that is powered by water, which automatically fills up a bucket on top, which then dumps on anyone underneath it every 5 seconds. Fascinating... They also have racquetball and basketball courts. My only issue is that their indoor bb court is a little on the small side, but overall it's a great facility and I am glad that it opened near where I live. I still feel the same about this particular Onelife Fitness. Too bad it's a 40 minute drive for me. A couple additions to my experience from a few weeks ago. 1) The steam room!!! I've never been in one before but wow, what a way to refresh yourself after an intense workout! It's a little small and the seating is a little weird but if you can catch yourself in there alone, it's worth clearing the pores. 2) The aqua massage!!! Go to the front desk and let them know you need 10 minutes and someone will get you situated. The touch screen allows you to adjust the target area as well as the pressure. It's something you can do before or after your workout. You simply lay down, relax, and adjust your aqua massage to your liking. If I can ever catch a weekend where I'm not pressed for time, I'll make the trek to this Onelife location. read more

The children center at One Life Fitness was absolutely horrible working there. I noticed when working there , anytime a person of color wrote an incident report whether it was their fault or not they always got in trouble however , when a Caucasian person wrote an incident report they would never get in trouble and everything was always covered up . One of the mangers constantly accused me of doing something that I didn't do . I asked the manager to show me proof such as cameras of this incident however , the manager refused to. read more

The team is at Onelife Chesapeake is positive, helpful and motivating. I have had great experiences with one on one training. I started with Alex who was great and he moved into a new role. Recently joined and the staff are friendly and inviting. Every time I go I see staff cleaning in an effort to keep us safe during Covid! They have buckets with cleaning spray and paper towels everywhere for you to clean machines before and after use. Classes are set up for social distancing with X markings on the floor. I prefer early mornings around 6 am. It's a bit more crowded in the evening. read more

4 stars for the Great classes & great atmosphere, BUT if I had to rate the lockeroom (1) star . The women's lockeroom & showers are never clean. It's blue & white scum everywhere in the showers & the drains are never clear of debris. The bathing suit dryer/ spinner water leaks into the steam room so the debris such as bathingsuit particles , lint, strings run into steam room drain. The bottom of the walls are blue, brown and white from setting water. I love this place just not the part when I have to shower after the workout. read more

I went to this gym for about 2 years and I will deeply miss it while moving. The staff and trainers were very helpful and always kind on top of greeting all customers as they walked in. During COVID all employees wore masks and did their absolute best to impose all guidelines of safety. The staff was constantly cleaning and I rarely saw any dirty equipment.
