There should be a way to give No Stars! This has to be the worst venue in NYC for people with handicapping conditions. They aren't ashamed to tell you they have no ramps no elevator and no escalator to help you ascend the four (yes four) flights of stairs to the auditorium . Their only suggestion is that you get friends or relatives to assist you. I'm heartbroken I missed my granddaughter's dance recital because there are no accommodations. Even worse when my family came out they couldn't get their car for over an hour. Supposedly the valet went home with their keys in his pocket! And he lives on Staten Island! This theater is great for watching people beat each other up! It has a good sized stage, great audio system and comfortable chairs, but the chairs are just too low (wish they could elevate that). This is our first time here and not sure would return because we came here due to invitation from our friends who sponsored the fights that night. This review came 2 weeks late. It was The Battle of the Millennium night. I don't know who the fighters were, but they were pretty awesome! Except when they knock each other down till bleeding. It was brutal. It looks like I'm reviewing the fights more than the theater. Anyway, the theater's entrance is kinda hidden. You have to walk pass the groceries store on the ground floor then turn right and walk upstairs to the theater on the second floor. I have to say having a decently sized venue dedicated solely to Russian/Slavic performers is amazing and reminds me of why I love this city so much. It some good and some bad. Here's the lowdown on this place: Location - super convenient, right next to Brighton Beach station on the Q line. Acoustics - from what I could tell, the acoustics and sound is pretty good. It does get loud though, so bring some earplugs. Seating - could be better. The floor seating is flat so if you end up sitting behind someone tall, good luck. The seats themselves are reasonably comfortable. Concessions - nonexistent. This is one of the biggest drawbacks for me. There is nothing being sold here: no alcohol, no snacks, no water, so prepare accordingly. Coat check - there is none. I went on a super cold day, so I had to hold my jacket on my lap, which was not very comfortable. Ambiance - a bit weird. You walk in and are immediately greeted by the sliding doors of the...supermarket (which I have to say is pretty good but still). Ever gone to a show and mixed up the entrance with a Stop n Shop? Yeah, me neither. Also, there is almost too many ads all over the place. Ads are playing before the show, flyers are being handed out in the vestibule, there are random banners everywhere, etc. Overall, I would come back here if there is a performer I really wanna see. The Millennium Theater is a great oasis of Russian culture in New York. Some of the great Russian theater troupes bring their plays here. You can also catch some of the old pop stars and some of the new music acts of Russia, and great Russian comedy. All entertainment is in Russian - there's no translation. Prices vary from $20 to upwards of $100 for a ticket, depending on the act. The downside of the venue is that the Millennium Theater is located above a Russian restaurant/club. This means that often, during the performances, you can feel the beat from the rowdy dance music downstairs through the floor. This can be quite distracting. Another annoying feature is the proliferation of advertising on the walls and even on the sides of the stage, for anything from dental clinics to bookstores. read more

A well-maintained, if somewhat outdated, Russian theatre venue located in the heart of Brighton Beach. To be honest I was impressed by how nice this place is kept. Downstairs there seems to be a dining area or perhaps a stage, though I didn't get a look as the event I was attending was in the large theatre upstairs. Also downstairs there was a sign for a $3 coat check. In the upstairs lobby area are somewhat hilarious posters advertising shows from years past, like Ray Charles, Gloria Gaynor, Engelbert Humperdink (yes!) and various Russian groups (I don't know Russian). The theatre itself seats several hundred (500 or more?), the stage is kind of small but completely servicable. They don't just do plays and concerts here, as I saw a sign for an upcoming Martial Arts Festival to be held there. (Um, ok?) All in all, I doubt that if you don't live in the area or don't have any ties to the Russian world you would be attending a performance at the Millennium, but for what it is, it's a solid venue. read more

Great local theater and concert hall on Brighton Beach, mostly brings to us popular musicians, singers and actors/theaters from Russia and other places in former Soviet Union. But occasionally they have someone from Europe, such as Italian song festival two years ago, and very often have concerts for traditional Jewish celebrations and local music and dance schools concerts. read more

Master theater (former Millennium) is a place that historically hosts all major Russian and former USSR performances of singers, theater troops and many others. Like some of the reviewers mentioned - it is a hit or miss of you don't know what you are going to see, but for the lost part if they can afford to rent this place - they at least somewhat known in the community. read more

I recently visited the Millennium for Friday fight night! One of my friends was in the ring so I went in support. The Millennium is conveniently located a few blocks east of the Brighton Beach subway stop. It is an old theatre, think not so great sight lines from the back. I was assigned row QQ = nose bleeder in the last possible row. I was very sad. The restrooms were of passable cleanliness. Anyway, it was fine. Millennium is outdated but in a decent location (although very far out in Brooklyn). read more

Worst experience ever!!!!! Went to see Dora with my kids and the show ran almost 2 hours late, not to mention the low budget stage and lighting. The speakers did not even work. The ticket sales person was extremely rude and un-apologetic. She looked like she was going to an 80 club, extremely unprofessional. The place not only needs updating but also a good cleaning! Good but not great theater. It's upper floor theater is definitely serves the purpose but the lower theater is not very accommodating.

This theater is A-OK. It's nothing to brag about compared to the MSG and Barclays center which is where most events are held nowadays . This place specializes in Russian entertainment from singers to circus events and dance recitals such as my sisters . I've only been in the upper theatre which was a fair size , probably holds about 200 people at least . The seats were comfortable and weren't squished together , the upholstery just seems outdated with red velvet everything . The stage is also not that big and the sound system is mediocre . The staff inside the theater didn't speak English which is not fair to customers who need helping finding their seat , but security there spoke English but they got nasty towards the end when they had to close and I couldn't find my sister . What I do like is that this place has valet parking and it's a level above gourmanoff. I can see this theater have a lot of potential to be around more a long time , but they can make it a little more modern. read more

I took my two kids age 4 and 8 to the Holiday Circus at the Millennium Theater and they had a blast. It was 90 minute show including a brief intermission. The show was narrated by Santa Clause and included a series of performers from circuses around the world, including Russia (the theater is in Brighton Beach) but also from the Royal Chinese Circus, Ringling Bros, and Cirque du Soliel. The contortionist from China was like nothing I'd ever seen. Truly amazing. I'll go again next year if they do it again. read more

What a fun place! I saw an ad in Time Out Kids for their Holiday Circus and took the kids on a whim. It was great day, and a interesting adventure. They had clowns and circus acts, but it wasn't quite like a typical circus because it was in modern theater. The kids loved the clowns, juggler, and illusionist (a guy who made it to the finals in America's Got Talent.) If you're looking for a fun event that's different than what you'd see at Lincoln Center or Radio City, this offers solid family entertainment. read more
