I was a returning alcohol and drug patient at Mastermind Care, I was a successful graduate back in November 2023 was properly transitioned to a halfway house and given great care, 4 days later I left the halfway house the day before my birthday, I take full responsibility for my relapse. I didn't use the tools and knowledge Mastermind Care shared with me, in actuality, I took it for granted. I don't want to admit it but I did. 4 months after that I was arrested and in jail, again, on Easter 2024. I made a choice when I was in Jail to call Joaquin (he had credit on his phone and the call went through, thank God!) and ask if I could come back and give it another shot and get clean and sober, again. Mastermind Care was the only program that I felt genuinely cared about and I've been too many different programs! I wanted my life back, and I wanted Mastermind Care to be my stepping-stone in that process. They provided food, plenty of it, substantial housing, positive and motivational teachings on a daily basis-many times a day, great energy and a great staff, and most important with real-life experiences. From the Clinical Director, Therapists and Techs - It's a place where community is truly defined through acts of kindness with good intentions and a yearning for my recovery over my life. A unique experience that cannot be found in a book or a movie, but I believe that one day will be. For the owner and her husband are a prominent reason for my return to Mastermind Care, true, real inspiration that miracles are achieved through God and our hard effort. They are there every day with the clients side-by-side, members of their family and even their children are a part of the program. Mastermind as a whole the staff , Clinical, Medical and even the techs all care . They go above and beyond the call of duty to help you . the program and trusting the program has allowed me to experience life in a while new perspective. I learned it wasn't only about the substance , there were deeper issues and events that caused chain reactions throughout my life which caused me to seek substance to numb the pain . But in time i realized I was better and I am worth more to my self and the world . From Jeannie to Joaquin with his hilarious jokes , to Jen an amazing clinical director who tells you exactly how it is no filter which is what we need in life . Then you got medical staff like Hasmin and David who do amazing work with meds and assisting client needs . then you got Nicole , Jim , Amanda & Jp the Techs that on the grind with the clients every single day . Go somewhere else! In the female house there was 2" cockroaches after spraying we swept out the cabinets there was about 12 of them on the floor. After that I would see them alive on the floor and near the sink. 1 room didn't have air conditioning. My roommate told me they didn't fix it in 3 weeks and her roommate there in a month of time said they never fixed it. We put in another request to fix it... they did nothing! Same time length occurred with the advertised "outings" no beaches or bowling. I even went to the director about it... nothing! The staff does several medical errors like not show up to the house. I even heard that in the men's house they just left the med box UNLOCKED for the house one evening. Oh yeah if someone threatens to kill you the owner will allow them to stay EVEN WITH WITNESSES even though that is illegal medically to allow homicide or suicide threats in the facility... the owner will just do a speech in front of your face AS IF THREATS ARE A NEW RULE while the guy sits right behind you. 80% of the technicians will bark at you as if they are correction officers. Even if you are asking a question.They will fight with their significant others from their private lives loudly on the phone for hours to where u can hear them through out the whole house. The night time nurse was kind enough to do that outside late at night but she did it at my window and that kept me up. I had to get out of my bed and go outside to tell her I couldn't sleep. Family member reached out to me as they were struggling with a relapse and their mental health. His marriage was in jeopardy of ending, and my family member stated he was finally willing to do whatever it took. I'm at the owner of Mastermind Care a while back as he was speaking at an event . Let me know if he was always available if anybody needed help, so I gave him a call. It's been 3 months, and my family member had time to heal and be cared for and loved by the amazing staff at the center. There are a lot of facilities out there, and I was apprehensive as you hear all of the horror stories, but this place makes you feel like family. If I could give 10 stars I would. I recently celebrated a year clean on Nov 1 2024. Reflecting on the past year I'm truly grateful for Jaoquin Jeannie and the entire Mastermind staff. I relearned a lot of life skills I forgot along the way. The owner facilitates the majority of the group therapy and he made it make sense . By watching the way he and his family live life showed me that it's definitely possible to "get it all back" . I learned to apply all those lil cliche sayings to my everyday life and it's working. If I fall I now know exactly who to call to pull me up and love me until I can love myself. Jaoquin knows how to deliver the message of recovery through real experience hope and a lot of humor. Fantastic place they taught me a lot about what it takes to live a happy fulfilled life. It's a family business and it has a family atmosphere. The therapists and case managers are also very good. My therapist Destiny helped me get enrolled in college while I was there. My case manager Erin set me up with a therapist for after treatment as well as a primary doctor and sent me with lists of AA/NA meetings in my area amongst other things. 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend this place. read more
