The staff at every level was fantastically helpful. From the unit manager Carlton, on E wing to the nurses Chloe & Jonathan, to the aides, to the social services people Cari & Jenna you have our deepest appreciation for your hard work & dedication in helping care for my mom & watching over my father during his visits. To the laundry staff who helped to find my mother's lost blanket which was a gift to her from her granddaughter, thank you! To all the therapists who worked with my mother, thank you. The first thing one notices at Sunrise is the happy disposition of all the staff. Everyone says hello with a smile. This must flow down from the top. Happy employees take good care of the patients. When it came time for my mother to move to another facility, Jenna & Cari did all they could to help & follow up. The facility is clean & doesn't smell. There are serene places to sit outside. All this is in contrast to the horrible experience at the vaunted Woodlands at John Knox Village. My mom was there twice and it was the same. Unhelpful & uninterested staff. Annoyed all the time. The Woodlands at John Knox Village is the dark night to the Sunrise Health & Rehab's bright day. I have been here fir at least 3 months. I have made progress with the physical recovery. The…read moreequipment for rehab is not very good. Basically there are about 8 rider type machines a small walking track and stair rack and a machine to aid standing up. All these machines and tracks are very close together A few of the bicycle machines need repairs to the timing and difficulty ranging. I have had a very good therapist. I have not seen all the rooms but I assume they are generally as roomy as my room. Service is spotty. There are some very good CNA'S BUT IN MY OPININON NOT ENOUGH OF THEM. I have waited as long as 2 hours for service. i can honestly say that the upper level medical staff in my case and in my opinion are not at all competent. I have a script that requires 3 specific antibiotics Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I had to contact the head nurse because they could not do that correctly. We had come to an agreement that they would dispense the parts of that prescription noon day on the Monday Wednesday and Friday so i could verify the drugs. That lasted about 2 weeks. Right now It is 9:00 and I do not have my proper script from my Wednesday order. They have bee telling me that a nurse is coming. The last time I called they hung up the phone. I hope that my opinion of this place helps you make a good decision on you choice of rehab facility

We're disappointed with Memorial Manor. My 90 yr old mother was admitted there on a Friday night…read moreafter a hip replacement surgery. I had my doubts to the success of her recovery due to not only her age but also that she has dementia. She had her first PT session on Monday morning which I was surprised and grateful that she was engaged in the OT session but not so much in the PT session. The therapist was great, Ms. Kathy. Ms. Kathy was able to complete simple stand-ups and single steps 9xs. I was excited and felt that this was proof that my mom had a great chance of being somewhat mobile again. The following day my mom's energy and willingness to participate in her sessions was disappointing but nevertheless the therapist persisted with the sessions. On the third day my mom was lethargic and showed behaviors not like her normal self. The OT therapist noticed her behavior and contacted the nurse. My mom was returned to her room. She had a low grade fever and her wbc had spiked. She was sent back to the hospital and was diagnosed with a severe UTI. After a week of antibiotics in the hospital she is ready for discharge. Memorial Manor has declined her request to return there for therapy. The reason, as stated in her letter from Memorial Manor was, "your needs cannot be met at this facility ". I understand my mom comes with roadblocks but when she arrived there the first day I was told by employees that "this is the best rehab center around ". My mom was there a total of five days. The first two days (weekend) there is no therapy sessions. She was diagnosed with a UTI on the fifth day. I don't want to feel that they are responsible for the UTI. I do feel that "the best rehab center around" didn't even give my mom a chance.

My 89 year old Mom was a patient at this facility. She was transferred from Memorial Pembroke in…read morelate January for rehab and we were expecting that to be at least for 3 weeks as was told by the social workers at the main hospital. We began getting discharge notices after the 6th day. She arrived late on a Friday evening so she did not get assessed by anyone upon arrival. On Saturday the PT person asked her if she wanted to do any therapy and of course My mom said no to that as she was tired from being transferred so late the night before. No PT on Sunday and On Monday got her first PT and second on Tuesday. On Wednesday we received her first Discharge order after only getting two days of actual PT. The aides PT and Nursing Staff and respiratory staff were Very good to Her and kept her well fed and very Clean. I cant thank them enough for the attention. Only one Glitch was a Young Flakey Respiratory Tech that walked in unannounced to my mothers room and opened the Curtain around my moms Bed while she was being Changed and Naked and Announcing he was there to do her Respiratory Treatment. I took issue with his Lack of Consideration for her privacy and just told him so and asked him to leave the room. When i went to the in charge Nurse to complain about his actions the Respiratory tech took issue with my complaining about what he did and began approaching me while I was leaning against to Nursing stations Counter and he was saying he didnt like my telling him to leave the room. While he was saying that he approached me even more and now I was feeling cornered and felt his action of approaching me so close was a bit hostile. I asked him three times to back away but he only came forward even more to which I said if he came any closer I was going to punch him. That when he backed off and went around, the nurses station and sat down in a chair. I finished telling the supervisor on duty about what he did in the room while my mother was being changed And then went to my mom's to see if they had finished prepping her for bed at night. Not 10 minutes later a policeman showed up because he called the police and they escorted me out of the building. The next day, when I went to see my mother, I was told I was not allowed in the building or to see her. The management staff, instead of protecting my mother's right to privacy as per the patient bill of rights that is posted on every wall in every room instead chose to defend this employee's actions and prevent me from spending time with my mother. The only time I could spend with her was for an hour each day, and it was outside on the bench beyond the doors of the facility. Management staff there is Rude and Disgusting and don't give a damn about the patient's mental well-being. Patients that have been in a facility like that need to have family members present and they chose to take away the right of my mother to have that available to her. So again, I would say that, for the most part, the whole staff from the nursing, the Techs and the Aides do a wonderful job with these patients, and I cant say enough about them and the treatment they provide to the patients but the upper management there is awful and the Social services personnel are cold and uncaring as well as condescending people! I give the working staff five stars, but the management and that one Respiratory Tech I wrote about get No star in my opinion! Thank you to all the staff that treated my Mother so well. My husband spent the last 6 months of his life here and I was very pleased with the care he got…read morehere. Everyone was so kind and genuinely caring. He was diagnosed with both vascular dementia and Alzheimer's in 2015, and eventually he needed more care than I could provide for him at home. They kept him clean and dry and well taken care of. Everything is done on a schedule here, and it's a good thing because the residents all know when meals & snack times are. They get changed on a schedule (and sometimes someone needs an extra change) and they keep a list of the residents for each changing time so no one gets missed. The facility smells clean and looks clean all the time. They have a dining room with fresh cooked meals for every meal, no prepackaged or microwave stuff. They have doctors, nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, and hair dressers etc all come in, so the stress of taking him for appointments was gone. I didn't have to bring anything except for clothes and toiletries, they washed and/or provided everything else. The main "living room" on the first floor is used during the day for activities, and it has big windows and comfortable chairs for visiting in. Or you can visit on the covered back patio that has ceiling fans so it doesn't get too hot. The building has a backup generator, hurricane windows and is a hurricane shelter. I signed a paper that said he could stay there during hurricanes, which gave me peace of mind too. They have a fire sprinkler system in the whole building and fire extinguishers are easily seen on every wall. They are set up for 45 residents, and each attendant/caregiver has 4-5 residents to take care during the day, so everyone has help. Everyone knew my husband's name, which was a big deal to me. I wanted him to be treated as a person until the end, and he was. The monthly price was all-inclusive, so no added surprises. They billed medicare for his meds and doctor visits, so I didn't even have to do that. All I did was visit him, bring snacks, and sit and talk with him. Having him live at Mi Casa was a great decision!

The feeling when you walk in the building, everyone is so nice. The staff is warm and welcoming, residents appear to be very happy and when I took a tour with Michael, the value for assisted living that is all inclusive (which I've never heard before) completely, took me by surprise. Virtually thousands less than other communities that I toured in the area. Wow!
