Did not know that, and it was not disclosed until when the time came to show up in court, and she did not, someone else filled in for her, because of Covid. This was the very early stages of the pandemic and the virtual hearings were not set up yet. The lawyer that showed up, went in to the judges chambers with my ex-wife's lawyer, and a deal was made. What?????????? A bad deal for me. Then, Kasia went on maternity leave. She was replaced with someone who yelled at me on the phone. I was billed for phone calls made to my ex-wife's lawyer. I feel that if I am billed for an official phone call, I should be part of the discussion. Just like the documents, no documents should be sent to the other lawyer without the person's signature or approval. Which they did ask for my approval for every document. I ended up with about 30K in lawyer fees, all the marital debt, and child support, well higher than what the statutory would be. The law clearly states that the ordinary medical expenses should be covered by the child support. My lawyer argued with me that it does not. 750 IL CS 5/505 clearly states: A portion of the basic child support obligation is intended to cover basic ordinary out-of-pocket medical expenses. I am left with paying 60% of co-pays and 100% of medical insurance. I am being sincere, and not saying this out of spite, but I really felt like my lawyer did not have my best interest at heart. Great experience!…read more So, without going into my divorce saga (which after 2 years finally ended this week), I need to praise my intelligent, caring, thorough, ethical, strategic, fair, honest, humble, and kind, pitbull lawyer Tracy Rizzo. I initially hired a suburban lawyer in June 2019 who was not really a divorce specialist, thinking because the rates were lower, "it will all be fine," but it was not. I was a bit worried because my ex-husband's lawyer came off as very misogynistic, and his and my ex's bully tactics were awful. I knew I had to switch lawyers, and Tracy came HIGHLY recommended by a friend (a top Chicago plaintiff's lawyer). I was worried I was going to get billed and taken for the rest of my money I had left, but I was so pleasantly SURPRISED that I was 100% wrong! This woman is incredible!! Strategic but fair in her approach. I told her once, "Tracy, you are just pitbull... but an ethical and fair pitbull." She takes no garbage from anyone, her advice to me was always 100% solid, and left my ex scrambling for a new attorney. (He would then show up with 2 attorneys from the new firm he hired and probably got double-billed for that. Eventually, he it seemed that he got "passed off" to the "junior attorney" in the firm, though. Our divorce should have been over very quickly, but he made it difficult. His new lawyer sent out all kinds of subpoenas (and motions), it seemed to me, as a scare tactic to harass me. Tracy would do her magic, file what she needed, and stopped them! She is BRILLIANT. She is a great protector and took no prisoners doing so. When I was appauled at my ex's actions, she'd say, "I promise. It'll all work out." Very comforting, and I believed her. Blind faith perhaps, but she proved her words were meaningful, time and time again. If you know ANYONE looking for a great attorney in the Chicagoland area, I will not hesitate for one second to say TRACY RIZZO! She knows the divorce laws inside and out, she is in solo practice so that you won't get passed off to a "junior attorney," and she is empathetic. I did not call her all of the time. I let her work her magic. I never ever felt forgotten. (Patience is a virtue, so don't keep calling her. She will call when she needs to discuss.) She did listen to my concerns and sometimes would email me at 2 a.m. if she could not sleep because my case was on her mind. She worked her butt off on a Saturday and Sunday trying to negotiate deals, as our trial (yep, trial) was fast approaching that Tuesday.
