I didn't make reservations, so I arrived before 7pm and was seated immediately indoors by the window. I was recommended the sardines to start -- lightly fried fillets served over a bed of crunchy patatas, peppers, and delicate petals. Beautifully plated and absolutely delicious, it was the perfect portion since I was also planning to order paella. Masusa offers both personal-sized and larger paellas, which was ideal as a solo traveler. Co-owner Ana recommended the black rice paella with fish, calamari, and monkfish cooked in squid ink. It was flavorful and even better with their special garlic sauce. The couple seated next to me ordered the Paella Russafa -- a spicy red seafood paella -- and kindly shared a taste. Delicioso! Part of my Spanish tour included a one night stay in Valencia. Luckily our hotel was close to some restaurants and we came across this paella restaurant that our tour guide suggested as previous guests enjoyed the food. The paella is served in 2 person portions since we were 3 we had to order either 1 pan or 2 pans. We ended up getting 2 pans. The food did take alot of time to prepare as they are made fresh to order. We order black squid ink paella and the seafood paella. The black paella was really good and taste was on point. The seafood paella was too salty and we had to drink alot of water after our meal. We did encounter an issue with our order they brought some croquettes and hot peppers to our table. We did not order them and asked them to take it away. Overall the meal was good but if I had a chance to redo it I should have tried the duck paella or the Valencia paella (rabbit and chicken). Be sure to make reservations! During Las Fallas we enjoyed a 2pm lunch and sat outside next to our favorite Falla. The staff is fast and efficient, maybe not the friendliest but we are not fluent enough in Spanish to have an in depth conversation. We started with Tempura fried eggplant with honey. Crispy, hot and delicious and definitely worth a try. The spicy Ruzafa Paella was a first for us. Very unique and cooked to perfection. read more

As I began to walk away the wonderful lady called me back and asked me if I was willing to sit at small table, near a large fan, which required me to traverse a couple of cords. I am emphatically said yes. This was a great decision! Even though I was in a corner by fans, the vibe in the place was joyful. If you visit their instagram page, the sense of joy that you see is what I experienced. According to the menu, you need to allow 30 minutes to receive a paella order, so I ordered the cod fish fritters and the vegetable paella. Each bite was better than the last and the first bite was so, so good. I enjoyed every minute of my time there and will go again, If I am so blessed to visit Valencia again. read more

Excellent service, nice ambiance, especially if you're seated outside and great food. - the scallops here were amazing. 6 large sized scallops cooked perfectly - the grilled octopus was very good as well, but a touch below the scallops - the spinach salad with goat cheese was excellent. - we ordered the Valencia paella and the fideua paella (came with squid ink). Arrived without a reservation but was seated within five minutes. Had the pimientos, the paella valenciana and a couple of beers. Food was delicious and reasonable. Only downside to the night was having to sit beside an arsehole with a pro Israel bracelet on. read more

4.5 stars We were eager to taste the authentic paella, Masusa was highly recommended. After following the Google map direction for 30 minutes we finally reached the destiny. At 2pm, we grabbed the last table outside; the weather was perfect. We shared an octopus appetizer to start with some wine, it was very yummy. The texture was slightly chewy and tastier than the version we had at home, I enjoyed the charred crispy edges especially. Black ink seafood paella recommended by the waitress was so tasty, we didn't mind at all that our teeth were turning black. There were many different variations of paella on other tables, most were yellowish from the saffron, some bright red from beets or spice and black ones from squid ink. MUST TRY!! We got lucky and was able to snag a seat indoors. Outside tables were completely full and shortly after being seated, the whole restaurant filled up. Be patient, there's only one waiter working the whole restaurant but I promise the wait is worth it! The cup of sangria is massive, I wished I had photographed my hand with it for reference. Crab salad on avocado was good but it wasn't anything memorable. Now I usually don't like battered fried food, but ommgggg this fried fish was SO light and flakey! It was cooked to perfection. The star of the night was the squid ink paella, put a dollop of the garlic cream and it's a game changer. This was the best paella dish we had on our Spain vacation. read more

They accommodated me even when they were fully booked. The seafood black paella was delicious and so was the garlicky butter sauce that comes with the bread. And they do not charge extra for the bread, as they do in many restaurants. Attention was great, too. If I ever come back to Valencia, this will be my paella place. read more
