    Tapas

Stopping in for a glass of wine and some afternoon tapas. A wonderful little place that has a little more formal and casual indoor and outdoor seating. Parking in and around Valencia can be difficult. This is on one of the smaller side streets and definitely aimed towards foot traffic. We chose the less formal route, which was down in the bar area and had a wonderful view of all of the top plates offered. Our servers were very pleasant, easily conversing in English and Spanish, and informed us of the tapas process. The restaurant is clean and has a very casual vibe. Pricing is pretty straightforward, help yourself to sandwich and you're charged the same for each. Periodically hot tapas plates are brought out and distributed throughout the restaurant. A very economical way to have a very filling and variety filled lunch. There is a full bar that includes wines, ciders, beer, as along with coffees and desserts, If you still have room! Highly recommend recommend this location is a nice place to stop for an afternoon lunch. Forewarned, this restaurant, like many in the area, close at approximately 4 PM for several hours so check their website and watch your time accordingly.

Eight of us had lunch here while on our full day tour in Valencia. Our guide, Adela, suggested several places for lunch, places that she frequents. We decided on Sagardi Valencia Centro, which services some tasty pintxos (Basque type of tapas, but individual servings, which are thick cuts of bread topped with a variety it toppings). We arrived before the place filled up. The bar had many plates of pintxos to choose from (2.50 euros each); plus they would bring out some hot pintxos from the kitchen. The one person behind the bar explained all of them. I selected four, which was plenty for me. They were quite filling. I had hoped for a better variety, as several of them looked very similar. I didn't see any with shrimp or squid. We didn't have the opportunity to try but one of the hot pintxos (they rarely came out of the kitchen), which was a chorizo type pintxos. It was excellent. I had a glass of red wine and my husband had a beer. Our bill for the two of us came to $31.12. We arrived at the perfect time. There were four tables available. By the time we finished the place was packed. They also have a main menu with some very expensive and well-aged beef. That would be something great to try if we are back in Seville and spending time there.

Basque food restaurant in downtown Valencia. Great place for pinxos (tapas) choose from the bar as many as you want to eat ( the restaurants / charges for the number of toothpicks chosen). Additionally the basque restaurant side of it is great for the aged meat and the fish. Had the aged tenderloin rare(Al punto) with French fries and piquillo peppers. Great tasting beef! Overall great place to eat and relax.

Amazing find! Delicious food. Beautiful atmosphere. Fresh. Great service! 5 starts! Our go to in Valencia now.

Great selection for a quick snack. Not a lot of vegetarian options ...

Who wouldn't be famished after a day of travels and making our way to old town, we saw Sagardi on Google and it had decent reviews, so why not? (Yes, had to resort to Google since Yelp isn't very helpful in international waters lol) Our server welcomed us warmly and we told her we wanted window seats. She gladly asked the next couple to move a bit to make room for us as all the window seats were taken. That was nice of her! (Window seats: great for pictures and also people watching) Sagardi doesn't have a menu but they have a buffet spread out which you can easily help yourself to some cold tapas: anchovies, olives, sliced baguettes topped with mushrooms, imitation crab, jamon, smoked salmon. I didn't see a lot of vegetarian options. And for those craving for hot tapas, the servers walk around with freshly fried croquets which are stuffed with jamon and cheese. Get it! Pricing is €2.10 per tapas and they keep track by counting your toothpicks in the end. Wine list is extensive (there was a pretentious wine snob next to us who could NOT find anything he liked! WTF?) I suggest going by with staff recommendations, because hello, Spain is the land of delicious (and cheap!) vino.

Food is bit special, good service. The portion is smaller than average size of spainish

    Variety of tapas.

Tapas here are amazing. So many different ones to try from, I love having a variety of food to sample! It's a buffet style so you just pick what you want and they'll charge by toothpick. I loved the crab salad with cheese on top. Creamy and flavorful. The artichoke tart was crunchy and I loved that you could actually taste the artichoke! The smoked salmon was perfection. They add a little of onion, a sprig of dill, and a dollop of cream cheese. YUM. Those were my favorites. This is Europe, so you really can't say much for service at any restaurant. They don't work for tips here so never expect superb service anywhere. Service here was friendly and that's all I expect! Would recommend!

WOWZA. What an amazing cute laid back super European experience. I loved this place. You walk in, Hope to find a seat and then choose the "tapas" you want. Then you are charged by the amount of picks and spoons that are left on your plate. The goat cheese and blueberry jam was my favorite. My mouth is watering just thinking about the options available. The quality and taste was great. Careful to not eat with your eyes like me and grab a few first then keep going. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is a portion for 3!!??

Tapas are very good. Fullstop! Restaurant has a lot potential to satisfy customers. We had chuleton for 3 and it was a portion that probably is ok for 1.5 people. Wine was good but not the year which was shown in the menu, instead of a 2013 we got 2014. Huge difference for a spanish wine. The flexibility wasn't there. We ordered jamon and received, by our mistake, beef jamon. Asking for jamon iberico which is available at the tapas bistro, is not available for the restaurant! Why? Tortilla de patate was available.

Probably won't find a better pintxo/tapas place in this neighborhood. I've tried a few pintxos (tapas but on bread with toothpicks) places in this neighborhood and this is the most impressive one I've been to. I've only been there for the pintxos, but I believe there's an upstairs restaurant as well. The spread of pintxos is great, there's a display on the bar and you just go up and take your pick. Some of the more noteworthy items would be the crab with white yolk, the salmon, Iberian ham, and the sausage. The dishes that are out are usually the cold dishes, but the waiters/waitresses will walk around with platters of freshly made (and usually hot) dishes. If you're sitting outside, you may miss out on some of these if there's a big group inside (the waiters just can't get out there before it's all gone). If you know what you want, you can still request them directly. The drinks here are pretty good. I thought the house red wine was very good, and I also tried a local cider which was... different, but still good. I wouldn't recommend the cider unless you're fond of slightly more bitter drinks. Overall, a great pintxos or tapas place and definitely a good place to stop in if you're getting hungry (like most Americans) and it's no where near the Spanish dinner time (8:30 or later).

I was recommended the sardines to start -- lightly fried fillets served over a bed of crunchy patatas, peppers, and delicate petals. Beautifully plated and absolutely delicious, it was the perfect portion since I was also planning to order paella. Masusa offers both personal-sized and larger paellas, which was ideal as a solo traveler. Co-owner Ana recommended the black rice paella with fish, calamari, and monkfish cooked in squid ink. It was flavorful and even better with their special garlic sauce. The couple seated next to me ordered the Paella Russafa -- a spicy red seafood paella -- and kindly shared a taste. Delicioso! I'm so happy I had the opportunity to dine at Masusa. Many thanks to the owners, Ana y su hermana, for creating such a warm and homey restaurant experience.

The paella is served in 2 person portions since we were 3 we had to order either 1 pan or 2 pans. We ended up getting 2 pans. The food did take alot of time to prepare as they are made fresh to order. We order black squid ink paella and the seafood paella. The black paella was really good and taste was on point. The seafood paella was too salty and we had to drink alot of water after our meal. We did encounter an issue with our order they brought some croquettes and hot peppers to our table. We did not order them and asked them to take it away. Overall the meal was good but if I had a chance to redo it I should have tried the duck paella or the Valencia paella (rabbit and chicken). Thank you for the memorable meal and we were able to dine on the heated patio with some fellow guests on our tour.

On the menu it was listed for 7.50 euros for an order. The manager explained that since they were making a new paella for us, we would have to pay for the large pan, which is designed for 4. We agreed to pay the price for 4 paellas instead of 3, or 30 euros. When the bill arrived, the paella was listed at 50 euros. I noticed that right away and questioned the manager. She argued that she had told us our paella would cost more. We reminded her of what she'd told us, turned the bill over and showed her the math as I wrote it out. She disagreed with math. 7.5 x 4 = 30 according to us. She again replied that it amounted to 50. I asked for the formerly friendly owner to resolve our dispute. He refused to come speak to us. He just sat there with his fat self and pathetic attempt at a pony-tail devouring a cheeseburger from some other establishment and managed to intone, "Talk to her, she's the manager". We refused to pay the jacked up charge. She argued. We showed her the math, over and over. Finally she relented and told us to pay what we thought it was worth. We paid exactly what the menu said our costs would be. We tipped some very small change just to get it out of our pockets and because the beer was as cold as the experience. Interestingly, The Lounge has a menu, but not a kitchen. When we ordered our paella, they called down the street to a restaurant and placed the order. We watched the sad pony-tailed, fat owner waddle down the street, get the paella, bring it back into The Lounge, and present it like it was his own creation. Seems his menu is just a big fat lie. They cook nothing and try to charge almost twice as much as the place that actually cooked the paella. They are liars who try to prey on tourists. Avoid at all costs.
