The manager has a pleasant and optimistic demeanor, as does the assistant manager. We liked the information sheet idea, so we could clearly communicate the daily situation. The staff usually just put "She had a wonderful day! :-) " however, and it was hard to understand exactly what transpired, or why every day was so wonderful (like N. Korea!). Although well appointed with colorful and safe play furniture, the facility is badly in need of a deep cleaning. As you enter, the vestibule walls are smeared with what seems like years of residue from very young hands. The entry system is confusing and arbitrary: we were given a code to use until our personal code was ready, but we were never given the 2nd code, so we continued using the first one. There were supposed to be sign in sheets for each parent, but it took two weeks for that to be prepared. The sign-in system is entirely voluntary, which seems to be a liability issue for both parent and school! Often, upon entry, there was no one manning the front office. The staff was highly fluid even in the two months and our baby had no fewer than 5 different staff during that time, most of which seemed to be transferred or quit shortly after they worked in the place. A few annoying things we disliked included that staff often peeked out of the front window to see what parent was about to enter. Also, the infant room was divided into two sides, and our baby was often not visible through the room window. Infants were allowed to crawl away from the carpeted areas and on to the linoleum floor and this was not safe, nor were the three wooden rocking chairs, which were a danger to falling toddlers. Finally, it took a good month for our account to be set up so we could pay on line; this seemed to be a company-wide issue, however.

If you decide to send your child here, RUN at the first hint of these behaviors because it will only continue. My wife and I discussed these matters with staff, but they continued to ask what my son could have done to mitigate the bullying. We finally had enough and decided to leave. Our son is thriving in fourth grade and we feel supported by teachers who are not compromised by their own personal issues. ​

There are opportunities for parent-teacher conferences in the fall and spring, and the learning checklists are quite thorough. There have been a few staff changes in the past year, but many of the staff members have been there for a long time and all (old and new) are amazing. They have an app called Tadpole, but yet the information entered is never correct. They are short-staffed every day and yet most teachers still leave at 4, so unless you can get out of work early to connect and discuss... you simply have no idea what is going on. Kids are constantly placed in rockers and chairs and are left there most of the day. The legal ratio of 3 kids to 1 teacher is rarely followed, in fact, I have seen as many as 10 kids to 2 teachers more times than I can count... We gave them sleep sacks for him to nap in each day, yet they just sat in his cubby. On more than one occasion he was left to sleep in a rocker as he was placed in a room that had no open cribs due to staff shortages... it's just not a good place to leave an infant. We started in January 2024 and there is not a single kid left in the class who was there when we started. To a child, they have all left and gone to other daycares... and now we are too. I wouldn't send my kid here if I were you. We are now 54 days past our last day and have still yet to receive our deposit back from the school. They claim its been mailed, but their by-laws state repayment will be made within 30-45 days and we are well past that... its a joke. Just find a different day care, this place is awful from the top to the bottom.

Like a number of childcare facilities there has been quite a few teachers who have come and gone. However, I know there are still quality teachers there. Ms. Simret, Ms. Judy, Ms. Toni, Ms. Genie, and Ms. Vanessa, are all teachers I've had personal experience with and hope Greenwood is doing all they can to keep them there. There was a recent merger with Sunny Days, so hopefully this helps with teacher stability as well. I know Sunny days had teachers who had been with the facility for quite some time. My children learned and thrived while they were here and still talk about Greenwood. Overall, I think it's a great facility with the chance to be greater. Federal employees have preference here with general community members without a child currently enrolled there being last in order preference. Our child is also in Room 4 (Ms. R's class), same as the previous reviewer, and we've never had a problem with her not greeting us in the morning or witnessed her on the phone. All of the instructors in that classroom greet us in the mornings during drop off and in the afternoons during pick-up. They also fill us in on any particulars about our child from that day or the day before. They always seem happy and positive (even when it looks like they've had a long day). One of our favorite things about the school is its diversity. My child's classroom is extremely diverse, and it's one of the main reasons that we picked this school. We were unaware of Laurie's pending retirement until reading the previous review, so thanks, person, for spilling the beans on this very public platform. It has been wonderful to see her progress she is already beginning to recognize letters and numbers, which makes us very proud. All the staff members are kind, helpful, and genuinely seem to love what they do. I especially appreciate the regular communication from the school. I receive emails and photos that keep me updated on my daughter's daily activities, which gives me great peace of mind. I had heard many positive things about this kindergarten from friends, but now I have experienced it myself and can confidently say it is very well organized and nurturing. My first red flag was the school calling me on day 4 of enrollment asking can I pick her up because there policy is the first week is half a day. ON DAY 4 AFTER SHE HAS BEEN IN SCHOOL FROM 8AM-5PM MONDAY TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY!!! Being the parent I am I went to the school and picked my baby up. I inquired AGAIN is this a good fit for my daughter because Im starting to feel like its not and there all over the place. AGAIN they told me yes there were equipment to handle her. ON DAY 10 I arrived at the school at 9am the teacher was not in the class.. I saw administration and they seemed lost that the teacher was not there but took my daughter and said everything was under control. When I came to pick up my daughter I requested to speak with the owner Rakhi De. In the meeting my first question was what happened to the teacher. She told me the teacher quit because the kids were "BAD" and began to blame my daughter saying that she colored on walls and the other kids followed. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A PROVIDER TO BLAME A CHILD THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SCHOOL 2 WEEKS 10 DAYS FOR A TEACHER QUITTING. THIS WAS NEVER BOUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BEFORE THIS DAY SO I BELIEVED IT WAS A DEFENSE MECHANISM!! I was upset left and got my child. The next day I spoke with the Director Marian White-Hood. I told her everything that happened the previous day. She told me that the school only had been open 1 year ( I was not aware) and the turn over rate is bad with teachers and they are underpaid. She also informed me they pay more for the camera's in the class than the do the teachers ( this shows how much the care about there staff). She also expressed how she was going to ask the parents if they could pay extra to get a better teacher in the classroom. The school is already 2150 a month! With all that being said this school does not care about your child's development there more concerned with the money. This was my child's last day there and I wouldn't recommend any one to send there child here. There were no lesson plans the kids ran wild everyday I watched the camera no discipline no structure. My daughter is in a new private school currently and I must say sometimes you have to go through the rain to get a rainbow.
