I never feel like I'm imposing when I call the office. Many doctor's offices have extremely rude stuff but not this one. There is one point I'd like to bring to light - the office is stuck in the late 90s/early 2000s as far as technology and service. They don't have the capability to submit prescriptions to a pharmacy electronically which is a GIANT pain. I have to budget an extra hour to any visit in case something is prescribed in order to drive to the pharmacy, stand in line, and hand them a paper prescription. THEN I have to drive back later to pick it up because I don't have time to hang out in the pharmacy for an hour while it is filled. It feels like the 1970s to me. Every doctor I've been seeing since 2005 submits electronically and many times the order is filled within the hour for easy pick up later at my convenience. As far as I know, New York state law mandates all prescriptions must be submitted electronically (to prevent drug abuse) so I'd be interested in what exemption this office is using to get out of the mandate. Secondly, they don't seem to have the ability to accept bill payments via the internet. In 2022! They want you to mail in a piece of paper with your credit card information or call them over the phone to give them your credit card information - not very secure, convenient, or modern at all.

On the day of everyone was equally kind and professional. The admitting front desks were quick and easy to check in with. Every nurse at every step was so kind and reassuring. They were very careful and followed all procedures to ensure I was the right patient receiving the proper procedure. Even the transport staff (I think one was Jose) were so kind and did a great job keeping me calm by kindly making small talk. Nurse E. Wolff was wonderful and advocated for my wishes for me so that I could relax for the procedure. She checked in with me about directives id verbalized earlier to ensure I was receiving the kind of care I had asked for. The radiologist/tech Andrew S who operated the Fluoroscope was also excellent and kind. He made sure to add as many warmed blankets as I needed to stay comfortable in the cold room before the procedure and was obviously beyond competent and skilled at providing the imagining. Dr Benjamin Raj and Dr Giovanni Santoro had wonderful bedside manner. They were both extremely professional and informative while keeping me reassured and calm. Both were so kind and did an excellent job. The recovery room nurses were also very kind and helpful and great at their job. Overall the staff exceeded my expectations. If you need a procedure at this hospital I hope some anxiety is alleviated knowing that the staff there is kind and helpful from a human to human perspective but above all competent and skilled at their professional roles.

They insisted on doing a procedure(without his doctors consent) which put him into respiratory failure and he had to be put on machines to keep him alive. Finally released from the hospital, we met with his doctor and he told us they were NEVER contacted. We were told multiple times they "tried" to contact his doctor. Lies. Never again will we trust this hospital again.

After having 2 back to back relapses while on Avonex under the care of neurologist Dr Ajay Berdia…read moreof Port Jefferson NY, This doctor tried to ruin my credit and reputation because he knew that and another MRI done w/another neurologist. I was due for one. I did not try to get any prescriptions from this neurologist, but Dr Berdia assumed I did. I had tried to contact him because the script he had given me for muscle spasms wasn't working. I was dropping utensils, glasses etc. and could not eat my meals.. I was also cutting open my knuckles on the headboard at night from thrashing in my sleep and having severe cramps in my legs & arms at light. Dr Berdia had told me if the medication he prescribed for muscle spasms did not work he would add valium to my medications. I tried calling him and left messages at his office. .I sent emails to him. He had given me his email address in case I ever needed to contact him with any problems. His receptionist told me when I called and told her I tried to email him about my problem that he had changed his email address due to "a patient bothering him" on weekends on is off time (meaning me) when he had first offered to give it to me, I asked him are you sure you don't mind me having this? He had said he felt bad about not not following up on the MRI recommendations for demyelinating disease. He said he wasn't a MS specialist neurologist and was just a old town Country neurologist and apologized to me for not diagnosing me properly! His office cancelled my next follow up appointment. They did not give me another date to come back. I went to my PCP and told him what was going on. I told him Dr. Berdia had said he would prescibe Valium to help me if the one he prescribed for muscle spasms wasn't working. My PCP prescibed the valium at night only! My PCP gave me this for this night problems, He said you need to get your neurologist to prescibe you something. for during the day. When I had my severe relapse i told Dr Berdia about the neurologist I went to for the MRI The MRI showed a new lesion! and because I was slurring my speech, My balance & memory was affected. I had called my PCP and he said i needed to go to the hospital for admittance. i should call my neurolgist. I called Dr Berdia. I told him what was going on. He said i could come in to see him the next day for an apoointment. i told him my PCP told me to go to the hospital! He was annoyed! He said hed meet me at the hospital. When my husband and I met him there, Dr i introduced Dr Berdia to my husband. Dr Berdia started yelling at my husband about him not being at my minthly appoinment with me for support! He went on in a Tyraid about him being there now when im in relapse, but not being there for my otjer medical follow-ups! it was totzlly unprofessionsl! He embasserresed my husband for no reason! My husband is my rock and is so helpful with my day to day care and needs! This Dr. also decided not to see me while i was in the hospital! i was so scared after having this relapse! i was going to need home P/P and nuring care each 3x a week and need to learn to re-learn to walk again! Dr Berdia passed me on to a different hospital neurologist! All because he found the valium in my bloodwork! He the sent me a letter stating he was dropping me as a patient!!!! On the grounds i seeked out another neurologist to get controlled substances! I had planned on finding another neurologist to replace him myself due to all the reasons outlined in the review! It realy is a shame He was my neurologist for 15 years! I cannot believe he treated me this way after all that time as his devoted patient! Years ago when he waz my doctor back then he would havegotten a 5 star revies. but his has limitd to his abilties as a "Country town neurologist"! Because of MS symptoms including memory problems, i forgot to tell him about the valium. They did bloodwork and found it in my blood. He accused me of getting controlled substance from another doctor. He refused to see me in the hospital and passed my case to another neurologist! I did not get any pain meds from my PCP or the neurologist I had the MRI done by! Dr Berdia then sent me a bill for my co- pay for the date he called me into his office to let me know I had MS! This was for 50! This was in 2/2010! I had a copy of the receipt that I paid! I sent it to him! He still continued to say I owed him this money! It went into collection! I sent a copy of the receipt to the collections office! The receipt was one of those ones that are the type you can buy in a book and fill out yourself! They wouldn't accept it! I should have paid with my debit card! His office staff person who sits at the desk and told me he changed his email because of a patient bothering him, is the person who signed the receipt! I would up having bad credit for 7 years because of this bill being in arrears! I should have paid it again or went to his office with the receipt and made a scene!

My husband called 911 and although I was in agony I was aware how great the ambulance people were: Amazing, and once we go to Stony Brook U Hospital everyone was terrific. I asked people their names but sorry to say I can't remember them. I will say PA Kathryn Walton was amazing. She did an awesome job stitching up my laceration, and she was so kind, professional and comforting. Dr. Brian McMahon was THE NICEST doctor! He took such great care of me. He was so considerate and I knew I was in great hands. I can't say enough wonderful things about these two physicians. Additionally, Everyone I came into contact with was amazing........nurses, aids, transport people, Xray and Cat Scan techs. I had a very long recovery, and thought about how fortunate I was to get the exceptional care that I did from all these people. God bless them, and Thank you to all of them. This was an experience I will long remember, especially because of the care I received.
