Getting into their online system, I would get repeat requests to sign up even though I was already in. I also required a special two factor authentication. This would get annoying. Once I got a bill, I got emails at 2am asking for payment. This was also unnecessary. The worst part was advising me on what to do in the case of a marriage separation. Not only did I end up owing so much I had to deplete my emergency fund, but I had to pay 3k to learn that. I was asked once about my filing status and dependencies without being told how devastating it could be if that changed. In addition, they filed an extension, and I now owe interest and penalties. Yes, life changes mean financial hardship. But I was not properly advised and this ended up being the worst experience I've ever had with a CPA.

Thankfully, I called to follow up and made an appointment. My frustration occurred when I showed up, and I wasn't on the schedule, but the appointment had been noted on my file. So I had to wait to be seen. I was on my lunch break, so after 25 minutes, I had to leave. I did not appreciate this. I received many apologies for the mix-up, but each one came with an excuse: it's just really busy/crazy this time of the year. I don't want excuses! Take responsibility! Coming in a few days before the 15th, I found them filing extensions for walk-ins. The cost will be deducted from their preparation fees. I think that's great. In the end, my taxes were completed to my satisfaction, I enjoyed working with the tax preparer, and I will come back next year.
