DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THE COMPANY! In 2014 I bought a recliner. I got a life time warranty on the frame. I now have to take it back for the 6th time because the frame broke AGAIN!! It ALWAYS breaks on the right side. One night I was relaxing on my recliner. The recliner snapped backwards. My legs were stuck up in the air my head was on the floor. I couldn't get up I couldn't roll over. I reached up grabbed my phone and called 911 to get the firemen's help. I turned it in to get repaired. It broke AGAIN a few months later. Other than being stalked through much of the store by the salesman who waylaid us at the door, it wasn't that bad an experience and we were able (on our own) to find the perfect sofa table, coffee table and end table. It would really help, though, if they had a department for those tables instead of making you walk through every bit of the store because of the way they are scattered among all the other furniture. When you are older, that much walking to find what you're looking for really isn't enjoyable. When the sales lady who wrote up the order told me that the transaction didn't go through when I swiped my card, I had the presence of mind to check with the bank app on my phone and saw it had gone through. The reason this place is even getting any stars is because of the manufacturers of the furnitures. Let's see where do I start... The first day I entered foot into this establishment. a sales associate sitting in a reclining chair asked me if I needed help getting out when he clearly saw that I just came in and was looking at furniture. He didn't even get up to ask if I need help. So that was the FIRST STRIKE this establishment received from me. As, i am walking around no one asks if I need help. So I took it upon myself to ask this seemingly nice lady, we will call her Jane. I asked Jane, if she would do me the favour and help me out. So she did and I told her that I'd be back tomorrow with my husband so he could view the sofa I wanted. THE next day, my husband and I look at the furniture and he immediately loves it. We are however a bit hesitant and ask her if we could come back as we wanted to see what the other furniture store had in store for us. She pressures us into at least putting $100 down for the sofa and perhaps even buying it right there and then telling us and guaranteeing us that if we do purchase it and when it's in our house, that if we do not like it we can always return it and that it is 100% refundable. My husband reiterated her words about the guarantee and that there would be no additional charges and she said that; that was correct. So we only put 100$ down. So, the next day I arrive yet again and ask for Jane. Jane unfortunately is busy so this man who is a manager helps me. I tell him that the furniture may be a bit big and ask him if I test it at home can I bring it back he said yes and that he'll give me up to two weeks. The day the furniture arrives and it's sitting in my living room, i realize that the loveseat takes up too much room. So, I was going to go yesterday to ask for a return. But was not feeling too well. So, today I went to MB, and I saw Jane. I approached her about my situation and asked if I could maybe exchange it for a smaller chair or get a refund. She said she'd be more than happy to help. So we find one that I'm happy with and she writes it down. I then ask if they carry chest of drawers and i explain to her that I'm looking to buy a dresser but I just want to look first before buying. We go up to the 2nd floor, we find a dresser I like and she quickly says "okay I'll put in for that too". I then, tell her that before purchasing it I'd like my husband to view it first. She responds "Well if you like it, he will like it" and I tell her that I'd like him to view it first. I then told her "My husband and I were talking yesterday and we discussed how you said that if we were not satisfied with our furniture we could get an 100% refund with no additional charges". She then got mad and in front of people she remarked "Why are you doing this to me?". Now I am sure these sales associates know that customers have second thoughts and this lady was acting like i was ACS taking her children away from her asking me why am I doing this. I apologized and she said yet again, "why are you doing this to me?" And i told her "I am not meaning to do anything, i don't know what I'm doing, i am sorry" she said "no you're not and you know what you're doing" I told her I didnt. We stepped into the elevator and it was like a scene from a movie this lady broke down crying, and apologized to me and said "I am sorry I'm having a really bad day I do not mean to take it out on you, you're right I did say about the 100% refund, i am so sorry please forgive me" I told her look I just want the chair and she said "yes I know you want your husband to look at ot, sorry for pressuring you, you take your time" so she writes a new order up. That is strike TWO. We then head to the customer service room and she walks me through these double swinging doors, not even a minute behind there a man touches my back and tells me I am not allowed there. That is STRIKE THREE. They should be lucky, I am not a sue happy type of person because i would have made a big fuss about being touched. Btw, remember what Jane told me, no additional fees bs, well guess what, there was. Tomorrow my husband will speak to the manager, and if things aren't the way we were told they were going to be the. I have no problem paying the 10% restocking fee for both of the sofas as they shouldn't be getting a dime out of us after that whole experience. read more

After affirming several times I saw it on the store site,mi finally got to the area where end tables reside. I found the table and then pulled it up on Amazon. Free shipping - about $24 less. I am purchasing three of the tables and want to know if Mathis brothers will match the price. Answer from a manager-Amazon is not their competitor. Well, they are now because I bought the tables you could have sold me from Amazon. They made profit selling the goods you have for sale.yep competitor. 21st century sales includes Internet. So I wasn't going to slam this "Sergio" (I think his name was) person. I figure hey, maybe he's having a bad day. But unfortunately he made he have a bad day. So i pretty much set up everything with an internet sales rep named "Solita", she was absolutely amazing. Basically I told her that I wanted to go into the store and check out my furniture before I bought it and she said OK just call her back as soon as I want to finish everything up so I told her OK and we hung up. I went into the store and this guy came up to me and asked me what I was looking for and I told him that I've been talking to an Internet sales rep and that I was trying to find pieces to a bedroom set he said OK follow me. So I followed him up escalator in this massive store, we then made our way over to the bedroom set that I was talking about and things slowly went downhill from there. I told him that I didn't want to salesmen jump and he got pissed and said, "well you know I work 100% on commission." How the F is that my problem? So then he walked away and said have a nice day. How F-in rude is that. Terrible company. Will not be purchasing anything through them again. 5 negative stars. And might I add I'm pretty sure that their new commercials are saying no shopper stalkers. We purchased 2 Bernhardt reclining leather sofas is January. They were delivered in February but the legs one one of the sofas weren't on the sofa. Because you can't see them, we didn't realize the issue until the recliners weren't working properly and they sent someone out to investigate in early March. We were told we would have the legs in 3 to 6 weeks. We still don't have them and Mathis Brothers never calls us to provide updates. The last call I made the beginning of July was that the legs may be here in September. We have grooves in our wood floors from the recliners before we realized the legs were missing. We were told not to use the reclining mechanism but could use the sofa. The center section of the sofa started to sag so we placed books under this high quality sofa so that it at least looks nice. We have made numerous calls and nothing has been done. You would think they would offer some time of discount, alternate sofa or something to compensate for this. We have a large family and got rid of our sectional when we purchased 2 sofas. I have asked for this to be escalated to a manager but have not received a call yet. It is ridiculous to spend this amount of money on furniture and not be able to use it. read more

Beautiful furniture but the moment we walked in the door 3 sales people greeted us and started asking questions about what we were interested in seeing. I kindly told them we were browsing and didn't need help but thank you. One gentleman smiled and said he understood but please don't hesitate to ask for help and he would check back in with us in a few moments. One salesman looked for another victim LOL the other gentleman followed us like a lost puppy and anytime I would make mention to my girlfriend about something he would immediately try to answer the question when there wasn't a question to answer. After the third time. I ask him to please leave us to our shopping. He said he would! BUT... continued to follow just not as closely. We left very frustrated after only 15 minutes. Loved the store! We stopped in and viewed a bedroom set from these folks. Was greeted by a guy at front desk that showed us around. After making a decision on paying cash for two lamps we wanted and putting money down on the bedroom set, all seemed to be good. Then the bottom fell out. The guy that showed us around, took our lamps out to the dock for pick up. He told us that they would box the lamps. Keeping them safe as we traveled. 35 min later we ask where the lamps are and wanted to leave. We were sent to the loading area. Finding the two lamps sitting back, not boxed. And the guy out there said he had no idea why they were sitting there. He said, no body had told them they were to box them. Then, we waited three weeks and decided that we did not want the bed set. And called to get our down payment back. My wife spoke to 3 girls, and was hung up on all three times. Finally, a manager in the cashier department talked to my wife assuring her that he would personally get it credited to her card. Four days later, no refund. My wife called again. And again, hung up on. And then she reached the cashier. Who said, there was no record that my wife called. And no record of the previous cashier putting in the request. Needless to say, we are still waiting for the refund. This group is the worst when it comes customer service. Do Not waste your time buying from Mathis Brothers. I've bought two sectionals from them in the past five years with protection plans. Both have had issues and neither have been fixed. Shop somewhere else and save yourself some heartache. The quality just isn't that good it seems and these were two different brands. Also don't waste your money on the protection plan. My brother purchased one on a suede sectional and when it got a hole in it they just put a very visible patch over it. It shouldn't take a bad review for you guys to want to be a decent company rick. I decided to call today after 10 days with no communication from MB and find out what was going on. During the call I was told that I need to pay to have my cushion repaired as the warranty only lasts for a year. After informing them that I spent over $200 for the 5 year furniture protection plan I was told it only covers accidental damage. Do people actually intentionally damage their furniture? It was clear that the customer service rep wasn't going to be any help as they didn't even take the time to look at my account. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told someone would call me within the hour. Surprise surprise no one from Mathis Brothers has called. The only thing worse than the service here is the terrible high pressure environment they've created where their sales reps stalk you through the store like prey. read more

Mathis Brothers is selling "FAKE LEATHER", and passing it off as 100% REAL LEATHER. ......BEWARE.....BEWARE! I purchased a Bernhardt King Bed some years back, and although nothing lasts forever, leather has proven time, and time again to hold out for decades. This is why I only buy real 100% leather, not vinyl, or bonded. I paid 2000.00 dollars for a king size bed. Wow, what a surprise when my bed started to peel, and look like plastic with a fabric backing. I notified Mathis Brothers that the bed was sold to me as leather, and came with a hefty price tag. They apologized, and said there is nothing they can do. My elderly mother purchased a new mattress. Delivered was scheduled and they never showed up (we both waited all day and had stripped her bed). I remade her bed because she is 76 yrs old. The mattress was delivered the next day, but they'd promised to remove the $50 delivery fee. When the bill arrived the $50 was not removed. They gave her a $50 store credit without telling her. Now I call once a week and they claim they will call back yet never do. I hope screwing over a senior citizen on a fixed income has made you feel good about how you conduct "business". Terrible customer service once furniture was purchased and left the store. They didn't give the protection plan when I purchased it which is no big deal. So I called and they said they would have it sent right to the house. Over a week later I called to check on it then got told it was never sent. After proceeding to tell me they will have it sent right out I called back to see if it got sent. They then told me they don't send stuff in the mail after telling me 2 times they sent it and failed to give it to me wile I was there. Terrible customer service and asked to speak with a manager but they refuse to talk and tell them to say sorry come pick it up. While furniture shopping, I reluctantly came here. Last time we came here, which was about two years ago, we had a sales associate who followed us like a hound, and would ask us why we didn't like a piece of furniture when we passed it up. If any sales assocites cane close to us, he cussed them out, so needless to say, we left in a hurry. Fast forward two years, we actually had a totally different experience! Jim Long was a super calm, helpful, relatable sales associte. This time we were in seaech of a dining table. We fell in love with what we thought was a light wood table. When we got the delivery and my husband put everything together, it was a super dark wood. So,we called, and they even exchanged for us. We got a second shipment, same exact thing! So, I tried to call Mathis and request to speak to a manager. Called 5 times and got hung up on every time when I asked to speak to a manager. So we went in store instead to resolve. We finally got a nice manager to speak to and explained everything. We went up to thr tables, and they had moved the table to a different area of the floor...the table no longer wad the same table we had looked at. In fact, it looked even darker than the table we had at our house! We showed the manager the picture we had taken of the table the night we purchased it. His response was, "oh! What brand is that table? That for sure isn't what you got delivered or were just looking at". When we told him literally the same table he jusy showed us, he couldn't believe how different their lighting was. They were kind and tried to offer a compromise if we found something we liked. But there simply wasn't anything lighter in color we wanted. This was really frustrating! I would come back to look at other things, and would highly reccomend Jim Long. If I was just rating for him, it would be 5 starts. But since we had all the other stuff happen and even the manager couldn't tell our table was the same, 2 stars it is. read more

Definitely beware! Our sales experience was not bad, but the delivery and follow up has been awful. I do believe it is as other reviewers have posted, once they have your money, customer service goes out the window. I purchased a sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman for my living room. The sofa was damaged upon arrival. It is covered in a weird blue/green glue, I guess from the shipping process. The back also has a hole in the fabric, again probably shipping. I have lost count of the people I have talked to in customer service. They delivered it damaged, returned to pick up the sofa up for repair, then brought it back again, as the fabric needed was not in stock. They are coming back to get it AGAIN, as the fabric is now in. They want to charge me for delivery!!!! It has been damaged since day 1, the delivery team has made notes on all the delivery paperwork. I am going to fight this delivery charge. I also can't believe I am paying full price for this couch, which is essentially used damaged goods, it has traveled all over town 3 times now, been in the back of delivery trucks etc... I have had a damaged couch since 7/6 with no resolution yet, just more aggravation. I paid over $1000 for this couch, it has not been worth it. I will never go back again. read more

So strike 2 with place (terrible experience with our bed frame we order at the same time), we haven't had our reclining loveseat for even 3 yrs and the flimsy pull cord broke. Call the service center to schedule pickup ($60) and assured us it was a warranty covered repair (3 year warranty, bc the warranty we purchased for the 5 yr coverage was a big waste of money), that went smooth but it went all downhill when that ACTUAL repair needed to happen, they've had for over a month now and email updates each time were the same "we're getting a hold of the manufacturer". Well I get a call Friday (1/31) saying we'll order the part, but it's $35. WHAT?!?! So now it's not covered and they haven't even ordered the part. So the CS says I'll send a message to my manager and call you tomorrow (Saturday - 2/1)... it's Tuesday (2/4) I call CS back and they say oh we can't order until the manager approves. This is the WORST customer service especially when we spent thousands of dollars at your store, never again - we learned our lesson. Mathis only wants your money they don't care about their customers after that. 2/5: they have since called and are warranting the part and expediting the repair... I hope this is true. 2/16: well we got the reclining loveseat back, FINALLY, and the one pull lever is fixed BUT they didn't tighten the frame like asked (there's even a note on the PO "very important" regarding the frame)... I wasn't going to send it back and be without a couch for another month... terrible. 2/19: Techs came out to the house to tighten the frame. They were very helpful and polite, talking me through what they were doing. read more

He took his time and helped me pick out exactly what I wanted and gave me a fantastic price to boot. I recently went back in with my husband for our own bed room furniture and he was able to get us a free mattress and a nightstand with our purchase. I purchased a sectional from Mathis brothers in November 2014. I knew it was a special order item and expected to wait 8-12 weeks. February 2015 came and I finally was told the item was in store weigh planned delivery on Friday. That same day the store called to tell me the wedge was the wrong color and they would have to get another one but I would be waiting another 12 weeks! How is that okay with such a large business? It sat in your store for 2 weeks waiting delivery and you could have already called the company for correct piece. It has now been another 8 weeks and I am still without my wedge. I spoke with customer service who promised a refund of the $150 delivery fee! Really you charge me a fee when you cannot get the correct merchandise? So I have yet to receive the refund after speaking to the person Kelly, and head of customer service after 8 weeks of waiting. Again I call Jack who tells me it will be another 1-2 weeks before it even ships from the manufacturer. What was to be a 12 week wait has turned into SIX MONTH WAIT! This has been the worst service I have ever had! I received an email asking for feedback on the service. I replied however I'm SURE NOBOBY READS THEM BECAUSE IT WAS NOT GOOD and have yet to have any feedback except from Jack. I was assured that the 'Mathis brothers' really read this section. I bought 2 Williams and Lawrence mattresses and 2 adjustable bases from the Mathis Brothers Sleep Center in Moore OK. No mention was made that the mattress warranty is voided by the bending that the adjustable base does. Our mattresses have a bend in the middle now and Mathis says it has to be over 1.5 inches before they can do anything. I called the store on July 21 and the salesman said there is no issue with using the mattresses with the adjustable base. Looks like deceptive sales practices when you don't disclose what will void the warranty. The claims dept. says that once it gets to a dip of over 1.5 they can do something. First, laying on a mattress that has that much of a dip is extremely uncomfortable and once they repair or replace, you are back in the same loop of having to do something after a couple of years - a never ending loop. Claims doesn't let you talk to a manager and says the manager will just tell you the same thing I'm telling you. Poor sales practices and poor customer service. read more

We have been to this distribution center numerous times. We have had problems every single time. They bring out the wrong furniture, or nothing at all, and seems very chaotic and very unorganized. At this time, we've been sitting in lane waiting for an hour as they've loaded out 10-22 other trucks in the meantime (at least!) no one can give an answer about what the problem is. This has happened to us every time we're here! This has been now a second horrible experience with this company!!!! I am so disappointed!! Second time I have had furniture delivered with pieces missing! I ordered a power recliner and delivery people state the power cord and now converter are missing!! They do not care and leave immediately! Already upset with this horrible customer service, I then call am told a technician will come out and bring the missing cord and install it! An hour later the story is changed and now I have to drive all the way from Norman to pick up the cord they did not include! Drive the 20/30 miles only to find they also did not give me the power converter! I'm so upset and frustrated that I'm treated as the bad guy and have now paid $100 delivery/setup fee when they did not set up my furniture! I basically now have a non working piece of furniture! This is the second time in 2 years I am Ok teacher has spend money and not given the full product I purchased! I am really tired of these corporations getting away with bullying the customer! I can see why people don't like this place. I get it. The first time I went in as an adult I was bombarded with people bugging me. I flat out told them I was only looking and was not going to be buying for quite some time, and was going to all the furniture stores. That made them leave me alone, for about 5 minutes. But in the meantime, 3 other people tried to help sell me something. It was so distracting I didn't even feel like I could look at furniture and collect my thoughts. After looking at all the big furniture places in the area, it was clear Mathis Brothers had the best selection and the lowest prices (I don't know how else to put that without it sounding like I'm being paid to say that... I'm NOT!). Perhaps it was our style, but we had a hard time finding anything we liked at the other places. We even drove to Edmond to look at one. A few months later we decided to go back. It look us 3 additional trips to settle on something, and all trips were equally annoying. We ended up special ordering at the end and avoided the typical routine here. A year later we returned for living room furniture. We had to prep ourselves before going in. You can't walk in 5 feet without being pounced on. Seriously, they have a station set up at the front they all wait at, and you literally cannot get past them. It's ridiculous. However, this time we got a designer person who just happened to be working the floor that day (not his usual routine). I was turned off, thinking he was just like the rest of them, but once we settled on a couch we liked, and were trying to figure out how to arrange the sectional, he came to the rescue and offered all sorts of input and advice, helped us pick out an accent chair, and a rocking chair from another furniture line that would match. I ended up being really impressed, and felt bad I had given him the cold shoulder in the beginning. We walked out feeling pretty lucky to have gotten him to assist us. Last weekend we were ready to buy bedroom furniture, and over the last 3 years, we finally figured out how to have a good experience at Mathis Brothers. As soon as we walked in and they pounced, we just asked for the guy we worked with last time, David D. The other sales people immediately fell off us, the one who made initial contact paged him and told him we'd be in the bed section, and off we went, open path, no one bothering us. It was fantastic!!! David was busy with another customer, and that was fine, because we wanted a chance to look around ourselves. When we were about half way through, he caught up with us. We told him one we liked, and he went to look up prices and shipping while we made our way through the rest of the section... on our own! He is great! I think because we asked for him by name, he knew we were not a flight risk. David was so knowledgeable on the furniture. The collection we were considering we had previously viewed at our local Ashley store. Yet David pointed out features we didn't know about and no one else had talked about.. like hidden drawers. He asked his usual questions to get an idea of our style. He knew what our dining room furniture looked like based on name and style, which has been out of production for 4 years. I was once again impressed! He was so knowledgeable no matter if it was lower end, higher end, old, or new. He showed us two other similar bed suites he thought we might like, and we ended up liking one of them much better. He gave us plenty of space to talk it over, narrow down our choices, and even helped us customer order a mirror for the dresser. We walked away so happy, and impressed all over again. We didn't feel pressured, rushed, bothered, or annoyed. David seemed like he actually cared about our needs and style. So I do get it. I get why this place is such a turn off for people. My recommendation is to find someone you like, and then only work with that person. Ask for a designer. They know their stuff, and are much more interested in helping you outfit a room/space to your desire and needs vs just selling you anything to get their commission. It makes for a totally different experience. They have an incredible selection, and seriously, their prices are lower than anyone else around. With the right person, this place is a solid 5. However, until you find that person, it's more like a 2 or 3. So I'll give them 4 overall. read more

Like all the other reviews have stated, the sales workers are ridiculously overbearing and follow you if you decline their services at the door. After buying furniture, it is nearly impossible to get them to comply with a warranty. They will find any loophole and make it as hard and stressful as possible for you to get your furniture fixed. Terrible business. Oklahomans need to just stop going there and run them out of business. read more

I have come in here a few times, and I should have learned my lesson the first time. In the first visit, I was looking at a variety of items to fill several rooms. However, never once was I asked about my budget. Not. Once. Instead, I was led from item to item, all of which were several times what I wished to spend. If I ever showed the slightest interest in an item, I suddenly had a ticket opened for it. I was never even given the option to look at the cheaper items, and I had to specifically request to detour to check out items. After over an hour, I was bullied into putting a down payment on over $10,000 worth of furniture...when my budget was actually $4000. Even after I explained to my salesman and requested several items were removed from the ticket that I didn't want anymore, he pressured me to keep them on the ticket and that they could be easily removed. Which wasn't at all. When I returned the next day, it needed a manager's approval to cancel the order because of the high total cost. I wasn't even aware I had placed an order-- I thought it was only a deposit to hold the items. I ended up buying one of the items at another site for the same price, only because the salesman wasn't so aggressive and pushy. My second visit was better simply because I knew exactly what I wanted. However, they wanted a $60 delivery fee for a $100 table. No thanks. My next visit was to look for a coffee table. I already had one in mind and it was still showing on the floor. However, we were informed that they were completely sold out except for the floor model which they would sell us...for full price despite the scratches it had. The fact they want people to pay full price for a floor model that had been touched and dinged by hundreds of people is obnoxious enough. After we told them that we wouldn't pay full price for a floor model (after being told it was the only one left ever in existence), a new one was magically produced and said to be delivered in two days. When returning in four days later to pick up, after already paying in full and with a receipt, we were informed that it would be delayed for at least two weeks. Why? They wouldn't tell us, but it sounded like they already sold the item that we had already bought and paid for. We were again offered the damaged floor model. It wouldn't have been so bad had two week been the originally delivery quote, but compounded with the fact that they had assured us the floor model was the last and then produce two more out of nowhere... The only reason this is garnering two stars instead of one star is that they have the best selection of coffee tables compared to the competitors. Prices can be moderate, but some are only offered at sets however. Everything else can be found elsewhere for the same or cheaper prices. This place simply isn't worth the passive aggressive dodging of salesmen ad the headache. read more

This was the worst buying experience. Ever. I went in to buy a mattress (my first one) and was immediately greeted and shown to the mattress section. The sales person was very nice and I purchased a $1,500 mattress. She told me that the box spring and delivery would be free. She also said it could be delivered the next day. I went down to pay and found out after I paid that I was being charged for the box spring AND delivery. I informed the cashier and she told me I would have to go back upstairs to process the refund and they would not be able to deliver for 2 days. Extremely inconvenient as I needed the bed ASAP and was counting on their delivery. I ended up finding a truck and doing a pick up. After I got home, I saw that I had a voicemail from Mathis Brothers asking me to call them back about my pick up order. I called back and the rep had no idea what was going on. After being put on hold multiple times, I was told that they gave me the wrong mattress and I needed to take it back or pay the difference. My mattress had already been unloaded and set up. I told them I no longer had the truck and did not want to pay the difference. They later changed the story to tell me the one I got was cheaper than the one I purchased. i asked what the difference was between the mattress I purchased and the wrong one they gave me. The supervisor said she had no idea what the difference in their products was. I had no choice but to keep the wrong one and have them process a refund. I am extremely unhappy with this experience and will definitely not be going back. I would not recommend ANYONE going to this store. read more

After dropping over $2000 in their store on a bed, the Mathis Brothers customer service has been horrible. The delivery men showed up with a bent foot-board plus a dirty and ripped mattress cover I purchased new. The delivery men had the nerve to act irritated and put out with me. Instead of solving the problem immediately, I was forced deal with about five different customer service employees to reschedule. This included about 10 calls total. The problem is still not fixed. I have had a pile of wooden boards, bed rails, a foot-board, a mattress and box springs in a pile within my bedroom for the last week. It has been extremely frustrating! I would not recommend shopping with this company. read more

The first time I purchased from Mathis brothers was in 2013. I loved it, actually. I didn't feel rushed when I went in the OKC store to browse, and when I needed help, and was ready to cash out, someone was right there. The prices were reasonable, and my furniture was delivered in a sufficient timely manner with very friendly delivery guys. I recently sold my furniture I purchased, because I was moving and wanted something new. I went to Mathis brothers a couple of weeks ago (April 2015) as a returning customer, with high expectations (since my last visit was very satisfying.) And oh boy, I felt like I was prey to a herd of vicious animals. I couldn't walk anywhere without some desperate sales person stalking me, asking a ton of questions. All I wanted was a little room to be able to explore the variety of furniture. I actually had to pass through a group of salesmen to get to a couch that I spotted, and I felt like I was about to get attacked. It was very stressful, and I felt severely claustrophobic. I understand that they work off of commission, and it is their job to get furniture sold, but honestly, I felt harassed. I finally got a bit of space after uncomfortably asking, literally, over 20 people to leave me alone. I was at the point of needing to check out, and I went up to a very polite man, Mr. James Braggs, (the only one who left me alone) and he helped me check out. I decided to do the 90 day 0% interest plan (which I think sounded very convenient.) But what I found very disappointing was the lack of detail given to me about the payment process. I was told that you are able to pay over the phone (with a 3$) charge, pay online, or pay in stores (which is very inconvenient to someone who lives about 40 minutes away.) So, I decided I will probably just pay over the phone. Today, I went to pay on my account over the phone, and they told me they ONLY accept Visa. I am military, and have USAA, so I ONLY have a MasterCard. I asked if I was able to at least pay online, and they said no. To make it worse, I can't even pay with my card at the store. I will have to pay with either a check, money order, or cash. I wish I honestly would've known about this before, or I would've just paid full price the day I bought my furniture. I am a young airmen, and was just looking for a way to build more credit, I didn't think the payment methods would be this complicated. So, if this all wasn't enough, the delivery was probably the worst part. I was told that all of my furniture would be delivered within the next week (since some of my stuff was coming from Tulsa.) Last Monday, I received my coffee table, and my mattress (I still needed my bed frame, and my couch.) I was supposed to get my bed frame last Monday as well, but apparently they dropped it when they loaded it onto the truck, and cracked the foot board. On a positive note though, the delivery men were very polite, helpful, and cleaned up. Yesterday (Thursday) I finally received my bed frame. The foot board is cracked, scraped, and the delivery men seemed very rushed. I was in the living room, while they were in my bedroom putting my bed together (very quickly.) And before I even got a chance to look at my bed, they had me sign, and rushed out the door. I went to check out my bed right after they left, and noticed the cracks on the foot board, and they left plastic wrappers all over my floor. I was EXTREMELY disappointed, and to be honest, I think I might just deal with the cracks so I don't have to deal with calling Mathis Brothers again. By the way, its been 4 weeks since my purchase and I still don't have my couch. I am not sure when I will ever get it. It had to be delivered from Tulsa, but, I don't see how that should take 4 weeks. It doesn't make any sense. I am very frustrated and extremely disappointed with the way everything went this time. I will NEVER shop at Mathis Brothers again, and I will be sure to tell everyone I meet who needs furniture to look elsewhere. There are far better places in OKC to shop for furniture. Where prices are cheaper, salesman won't harass you, your payment options will be discussed, your delivery will be on time and your furniture will look brand new (the way it should look.) Here is my complaint that I filed with the BBB if you would like to read it. Third piece of damaged furniture bought from this store. Customer service with regards to this issue is terrible. Purchased a sectional this year. One of the legs was damaged and we noticed before it was loaded. Got 2 of 3 pieces home only to find that another one of the pieces was also damaged. 2 of 3 new pieces were delivered 2 separate times to our house during working hours (meaning time off work). Purchased an entertainment console 12/29. Got it home to find it was also damaged, significantly. It is pretty obvious, though not definite, that this piece of furniture was damaged by a forklift. Meaning either the manufacturer or store damaged this piece of furniture and then chose to sell it regardless (a forklift operator would have known they damaged this piece of furniture). Called the store on 12/29 and was told Customer Service was closed until 9am. Called Customer Service at 9:20am on 12/30 and spoke with Nicole and then proceeded to ask to speak with a manager. Nicole told me that she would call the drivers delivering on 12/30 and see if any of them were able to deliver a new console that very same day. She told me she would call me back within an hour. I called back at 10:20am, was told she was still calling drivers and that she would call me back in a "few minutes". I called again at 11:20am. Was greeted by a nice gentlemen that told me Nicole had stepped out and she would call me when she got back, proceeded to ask to speak to a manager. Was told a manager would give me a call back. Nicole returned call at 12:15am and told me she couldn't get the new console delivered that day. I told her to schedule me for tomorrow. She told me that she did and that I would be receiving a call between 4 and 6 with regards to delivery time for 12/31. I told her I expected a credit to my account and she told me that she credited my account $72, which would be 10% (have not seen in account yet). I received no call from a manager and no call for delivery. I called back at 6:50pm and was told by the same gentlemen I spoke with earlier that I was not scheduled for delivery, that he could not add me on, and that all the managers had gone home. I asked him to call a manager, he refused. I told him to leave a note for his manager to let them know I was filing this claim out and then to schedule me for the next slot...which is (delightfully) New Years Day. Mind you, I explained to each person I talked to how much trouble I had. I also let them know that this is not the first time and that we don't have cable or internet because we unhooked it thinking we were bringing home a new TV console. Yes, we could have hooked it back up, but I was under the impression I was getting the new console either on 12/29 or 12/30. I am not generally one to complain, nor have I ever filed a complaint before now, but this is the poorest customer service I've dealt with in quite some time. read more
