I shopped at the Ontario CA location and although the furniture is very nice, their customer service is HORRIBLE! The furniture was not delivered as promised and only excuses were made as to what happened and why! In the end I have people coming to my home on Saturday with no where to sit as the furniture is now supposed to be delivered on Sunday! Wake up Mr. Mathis! So I moved to OKC job transfer from Seattle area, The people who bought my house from LA wanted the furinture so I sold it all. Looking on line found Matthis Brothers. Walked in and it was starving dogs. I asked to be left alone and salesman said the were required to make contack. I said nicely, thank you for making contact, I'm go to look around and don't need your assistance. He said I will get in trouble if I leave you alone. I said that's not my problem it's your's and I desire to be left alone. 5 min latter there he is. I said if you want to follow me around fine, don't speak to me. I have nothing to do all day but look for furniture, and after you wasted 2 or 3 hours of your time when you could have been working with someone who wanted your help. When I find something I want, I will go find the sales person I desire to place my order with. So, if you want to follow me around for no sale ur more than welcome. At that point he made the best choice for him. My second visit I told the I was just going to make a payment. They left me alone and I walked past the row of payment folks and went on my way. I also found the bath rooms and at the end of the hall was a door going to pick up area and I walked out to the parking lot. The next 3 times I just walk in one of the bays where you back up your car, walking in the door by bathrooms and walk around like a free range chicken. Next when I walked in I just gave them some made up mane for a salesman that I had an appointment with in bars stools or something. The said we will call him for you and I said I had already txted him and he told me where to meet him. At no time was I ever rude, raised my voice, I would never treat anyone like that. BUYER BEWARE......I spent $7,376.00 on furniture.......This is not the kind of store that cares about their customers. If it falls apart, they don't care. If you are unhappy, they don't care. I bought a sectional sofa for $5,416.00 and it completely fell apart. The company refused to issue a refund and I was forced to make another selection. In exchange for the Lemon sectional, I chose a sofa and a loveseat. I spent even more money for the new two items so I paid another $1,960.00. To make a very long story short, when the new sofas arrived, the larger sofa would not fit through the doorways that lead into my living room. I sent back the original sofa as well as the new sofa and love seat. I was told that after spending $ 7,376.00 that I could not have a refund. My only option was to choose another sofa. It has now been 14 months since I have been dealing with this company. The manager refuses to call me back. I went into the store this morning looking to spend a good deal of money on furniture for my new home. I stated I wanted to just look around. After 45 minutes and 23 different salesman (I started counting after the 4th one) asking if I needed help, I finally got so irritated that I just left. I tried hard not to be rude to the salesmen, but it was horrible to be bothered every 3 feet. A couple times the salesmen followed me as well which was very disturbing. After just making the move to town, we are just starting to decorate the house and I am definitely Far from an interior decorator. So when I go to a furniture store, I want to be able to walk around without be STALKED. We decided to stop by Mathis Brothers just to look around and get some ideas. We were greeted right when we walked in the door by 4 sales reps. We walked over thru the clearance shop and a fantastic rep "Evelyn" mentioned she was around if we needed anything but then walked away. My kind of sales rep. We actually found an amazing table at a great price. We called Evelyn over and she got us all checked out. Put in system that we were driving over to pick up and that they should wrap up. Said to plan on ten min. So we waited. Then drove over. We arrived and someone came out to greet us, then - the guy asked ok do you need us to wrap this up ? Huh I watched her type this in ? There is a definite communication gap there. But that's a small thing. They went ahead and wrapped and it didn't take too long. Overall great experience. read more

In early August 2018, I purchased a new adjustable motion base for my queen size bed I had purchased from Mathis Brothers in 2012. The base broke early in August and I had to replace it to enhance my sleeping. On September 9th, a little over a month from the purchase date, the base remote control came apart. I took the damaged remote to Mathis Brothers bedding department. Very quickly, a salesman told me to go over to Customer Service, bedding department does not resolve these issues. I went to the Customer Service department, explained the circumstances to one of the representative there who promptly told me, that they do stock Sealy remotes there, other brand names, but not Sealy. I asked why would you not stock all remotes instead of just a select brand, she gave me no response. I felt like I was talking to a mannequin. She finally gave me the telephone number of the Sealy Customer Service and instructed me to call them for a new remote. The next day, I telephone Sealy Customer Service around 7am. I explained the situation to a service representative several times. The representative placed my call on hold at least twice and finally completed my request for a warranty replacement, and I purchased an additional remote as a backup. She completed the transaction, gave me an order number and said I should expect delivery within 5 to 7 days. Today is day 7, no delivery. I contacted Sealy Customer Service, and again explained the situation to a representative. He, liked the other agent, placed my call on hold several times, and finally returned to the line to tell me that the first representative did not completed the order last week. He promised me he would completed the order, but when I asked for a delivery date, he could not give me an answer. Furious, I went to Mathis Brothers to seek their assistance. In the past I have had issues with them whereby I had sent letters to them explaining my dissatisfaction , they never contacted me. As I drove toward the furniture store I expected no favorable response or positive action based on my prior encounters. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT ME. As I entered the store, I asked to speak to the store manager. A receptionist motioned toward a gentleman seated beside her and said he is a manager. He offered his assistance upon which I asked if we could speak in private, not in front of the store's entrance. I explained to him what had occurred with the broken remote, my encounter with their customer service staff. I concluded by telling him Sealy Customer did not completed the order last week, and they could not give me an anticipated delivery date. The manager said I need to speak to the mattress department manager. I waited several minutes before the mattress department manager approached me. I told him what I told the store manager; the mattress department manager shook his head and said he could not help me. I tried to explain to him, due to my medical condition, the adjustable base allows me to elevate my head. I offered to return the existing base that was only 1 month old, purchase a new base at a discount price. He again shook his head adamantly and said no. He couldn't do that and he had no remotes in stock. As I was leaving, I told him I would register my dissatisfaction on YELP. He asked me not to and offered to go to his area to see if by chance there were any remote lying about. I told him not to trouble himself. Hello, I recently made a purchase of a mattress at Mathis brothers. I want to add that I am an avid Mathis Brothers customer. My entire house is full of Mathis brothers furniture. I purchased a queen size mattress and box spring named Ruth by Lady Americana. The set was picked up by someone else. When the set arrived I realized it was not what I ordered from the showroom. I called Thursday and left a message for my salesman and received no call back. I sent my husband in this morning and after much confusion and running back and forth from the warehouse he was told that we had a newer version. I have never purchased anything from you all and received a different color or version. We wasted a lot of time and gas on this situation and the sales woman had the nerves to try to charge me a 10% fee for returning the wrong item. In the last 2 years I have had the worst service from you all and I am very disappointed. I will not be coming back to spend any more of my hard earned money in your establishment if this terrible customer service continues. I am sharing this story on yelp to alert other members of my community about how different products are being shown and "new versions" are being given to the customer. The item displayed on the floor should be the exact same item purchased by the customer, if a "new model" is going to be given to the customer that information should be disclosed to the customer upon agreeing to purchase the item. Not to mention some years ago a salesman lied and sold me a leather couch with bonded leather. They also put me through hell and high water to use my protection plan and replace a chair.... We went to Mathis Brothers to shop for a new king sized bed. Shopper stalker is an understatement. We felt like we were on a used car lot instead of a furniture store. After we picked out our frame ($1500.00), we started looking at mattresses. We waded through the $4,000 mattresses all the way down to the thousand to fifteen hundred dollar range. They weren't the greatest mattresses in the store, but one seemed ok in their Lady Americana brand. That's the one we chose because we saw all over the television how they rave about their quality and show people who supposedly have one that really do like them so we figured it was worth a try. Mathis Brothers did deliver the frame, which looked very nice in the store. Of course, ours came out of the box broken so they had to bring another piece. Rickety Chinese crap marketed as American brand frame is what we purchased. I've hated it since day one and can't wait for my other half to finally tire of dealing with the frame so I can put up our old bed and be happy again. Lady Americana a great mattress? It's not. I ended up dragging ours back into the yard after a few months and using it for a dog bed. I purchased a Serta to replace it and wasn't happy with it either. Both were as hard as a rock! I decided I wasn't going back to Mathis Brothers ever again to buy another anything. Instead, I went to a small local store that sells Sealy mattresses, found a mattress that Mathis Brothers charged over $3,000 for in their store and paid $1,300.00 delivered straight to my house. I finally have a bed I can sleep in at night. Mathis Brothers started out very strong. That was how they grew to be one of the largest furniture retailers in the state, if not the country. They're too big. So much became lost and misguided through the years as they grew and grew and grew. They aren't the same Mathis Brothers we grew up knowing in the 1970's. read more

I had an excellent experience purchasing my mattress recently. Jose, my sales associate, was knowledgeable and very helpful to me. I see some of the reviews mention that sales people are "all over you" when you enter the store. This is frequently the case in any large furniture store, so that did not bother me at all. Also, I never enter a furniture store unless I know I'm in the market to buy an item and I want fast service ... get in and get out fast. So, the fact that an associate met me at the door was a plus for me. (ever try to find someone to help you when you need it?). I have spent over $25K here over the past year between furnishing my new home and new office and have had a good experience every time. On one occasion they called me and made me pay an extra $180 on a chair because they rang it up as on sale when it was not. This is what kept them out of the 5star category. I felt they should have just ate that amount instead of making me pay it when they did not put it in the price when I checked out. Especially when I have spent such a large amount of money here. Until the latest experience, Mathis Brothers was the first place I went to look for furniture. In fact, the majority of the furniture in our home was purchased from Mathis Brothers. I actually have a sales person at MB that I typically ask for when entering the store. This helps with the problem other reviewers have complained about. My sales guy would keep the other sales people off me and allow me to look at my own pace. So, you get the point - Before this last experience, I was a loyal MB customer.... I recently attempted to take advantage of "Double the Difference" guarantee. When attempting to take advantage of the guarantee, I was told Mathis Brothers would match the price, but in order to double the difference, I had to bring in an ad showing the item I wished to have them double the difference on. Well, unfortunately for me, the item I wanted was on a showroom floor, not in an ad, so no double the difference for me. They kept emphasizing they would match the price, but I had such a bad taste in my mouth, I did not purchase the item. Because of this experience, I doubt I will be back to Mathis Brothers. If they are not going to honor a guarantee, then don't advertise it. read more

If you order an item that isn't in stock be prepared to wait and to be lied to Horrible Service!! We were lied to about our furniture delivery...told it would take two weeks to get it in. So we went to their sister company Factory Direct to check the story...it was a lie! Factory direct was able to get us the same identical piece of furniture a week earlier!!! So we canceled our order with Mathis and transferred the credit to Factory Direct. The delivery date came and went so we called to check...Mathis Brothers with out telling anyone canceled the whole order at Factory Direct (we ordered additional things) and moved it back to Mathis. A MONTH later we still have no desk and were told by Mathis that it would be another 2 weeks before they would receive shipment. This was also a lie...I called three other furniture stores and the same item was in stock at the Ashley warehouse and would be delivered in 7 days. After calling and demanding a full refund in cash for our items Mathis was able to come up with the "out of stock" item from their sister store Factory Direct and deliver it 36 days after our original order and payment in full for the item read more

Once they get your money the customer service becomes terrible! I bought a chaise lounge 5 months ago, the springs were making noises so I looked under it, the frame was broke! They wouldn't discuss replacing it only repairing it, if the frame broke in less than 5 months there's a problem but I was never able to talk to anyone in repair about my furniture. When they sent my white chaise back it wasn't wrapped and it was filthy! The delivery guy was frustrated because the chaise belongs in a bedroom & said "who puts a couch in a bedroom anyway" to his coworker! Yes, the chaise is in a bedroom/closet it's barely been sat on which makes the broken frame even more distressing! but still nothing from customer service! read more

Well usually I have had a good experience with Mathis Brothers, but this time has been very much less than satisfying. I guess if you change your mind about buying something before it's even delivered they punish you by not giving back your money in a timely manner. I canceled on Tuesday and was told that I should see the money back in account by 2 days. I never received any refund and then called back on Thursday to find out they didn't credit my account and send my money back. Now I was told today, Friday, as I called back because I have a tendency to not believe people, that they have a tendency to not type in the right numbers for cards. So my refund may go to the wrong person. It's so nice to have a business take $1240 of your money and then be so hesitant and incompetent about giving it back. read more

I've had nothing but the best experiences shopping at Mathis Brothers. The employees are extremely helpful and are active in finding me exactly what I want. I've shopped at this store since I moved to the Oklahoma City area over 10 years ago and every time I'm needing a new piece, I head straight for them. The store is quite large so it's a huge asset to have the staff helping you out to navigate. They are very knowledgeable about the products and are able to direct you where you need to go. From picking out fabrics, to table heights, etc., the employees will be able to give you all the information you need to feel comfortable about your purchase. Everything I've bought from them has been of a great quality and I feel like I really got my money's worth from their products. When my most recent purchase was delivered two weeks ago, the delivery guys were very professional, on time, and very friendly. Mathis Brothers said they cannot send someone out to bring a new one out today. They also accused us of not knowing what cigarette smoke smells like, and saying it is just "the smell of a new mattress". Now our whole bedroom reeks like cigarette smoke. I don't review things often, but the service here is poor enough it compelled me to do so. I ordered over $2000 worth of furniture that I had to wait a week for delivery on. I bought on a Saturday, and they had no availability for next day delivery. This was the first time I have heard that from a furniture store. The last time I bought furniture (obviously from a different store) was a recliner that I payed for, and met the delivery guy at my house 10 minutes later. The delivery scheduling is ridiculous and in no way convenient for the customer. They can't tell you a time frame until the day before delivery, even when you are scheduling a week ahead. I don't have the time to miss work sitting around for delivery, hence why I chose Saturday, and waited a week for my furniture. Cue to today when my furniture was delivered. The delivery guys were great, very nice and efficient. However the dining table I bought did not come with the hardware needed to put it together. Apparently the store didn't think to give this to the delivery guys when they gave them the table. I mean really?! You don't send out the parts necessary to put the table together?! The delivery guys were going to call the store and schedule a time for someone to come out and assemble the table. After a few hours with no call for scheduling, I called the store. And this is when I got angry. I call and explain the situation and am told that they had no time tomorrow, and the earliest was Monday. I said that I wouldn't be in town Monday and reiterated that I can't have delivery during the week, because I can't miss work right now. Which is why I waited a week for delivery the first time around. I found the complete lack of customer service mind boggling. A mistake was made on the store's end, that has resulted in dining table parts scattered in my house. I would put it together myself, but I don't even have the pieces necessary! They wouldn't offer a suggestion to fix this situation at all or an apology for that matter. In fact the woman I spoke to sounded like she couldn't give a crap about it or care to fix it at all. So now I have to wait another week for someone to come put the freakin table together. I know the floor associates work for commission but I honestly would have rather gotten teeth pulled. Me and my wife were preyed on the second we walked in the door. That wasn't necessarily my main issue. We told the guy that "we were just looking and if we needed something we would come find you." He agreed politely and let us be. Not 5 minutes later here he comes. "We got great deals on this and on that, let me take you to the sectionals I bet I have something you'd like to see" we told him again "we're just looking" we literally had to power walk through the store and even ran up stairs just to get away. But he found us and continued to try and sell us stuff we didn't need nor couldn't afford. I watched another customer get loud with another floor associate saying "please leave us alone we just want to shop" customers shouldn't have to raise our voices and beg the salesman to back off. sadly we couldn't stand it any longer and had to leave not 30 minutes after we walked in. It was so annoying we couldn't even look at the furniture because we had to keep an eye out for our salesman. I will honestly be doing my shopping at bob mills who aren't commission employees. I have already warned 3 friends of mine and referred them to bob mills. 1 that has already thanked me saying his experience was much more pleasant than mine sounded. They delivered a sleeper sofa with the wrong mattress EVEN THOUGH they claimed they had it in stock when I bought it. Now they tell me they can't get the correct mattress until September! I called, complained and they tell me they will take it back and refund me. Not more then 30 min later another "customer service" rep calls and has zero knowledge of my previous conversation with customer service and now I'm stuck in this vicious loop of "let me call so and so". This is an update to my original review. We purchased a bed. They promised it would arrive by the date we needed it, it didn't show up, no call about why. We called a few days later to talk to a manager. He PROMISED us it would arrive by another date. When I asked him if it was an estimated date or guaranteed date, he said it was estimated. It's almost like their job is to omit the actual truth. They have dates posted on their furniture "I'm coming back soon!" With a date it's coming back. Except they don't tell the sales people or the customers that those dates are estimates. You have to ask. We told him that date wasn't going to work. He said he would give our info to a sales person so they could help us get another bed by the date we needed it. No call. I had to call 3 days later to talk to the same manager who promised me again that a sales person would get in contact with us so we could get a bed by when we needed it..... it's been another 3 days. No call. We would have gone somewhere else to buy a bed if we had known it would not come in on time. Like I stated before. This post was prompted by a friend who moved out of the Mathis service area to a larger city. Frustrated in her search for reasonably priced furniture for her new home in the larger city, she returned to Mathis Brothers to purchase almost every item she needed. Several times she stated her amazement at the Mathis Brothers selection. At the store, none of the Mathis sales people gave any appearance of "stalking." Instead, they made themselves available to help without being impatient or intrusive. They appeared quite knowledgeable about the products in their areas and referred customers to others with more knowledge when necessary. With their help, my friend easily identified almost every item she had envisioned and repeatedly expressed her amazement at the Mathis selection. After finding the items she needed, she somehow convinced her husband to rent a U haul to drive the furniture home. Even with the added cost, he later said the items were less expensive than the unsatisfactory products she had found elsewhere. During twenty years of shopping at Mathis Brothers, I have experienced occasional problems with product resolution personnel and feel the reps who answer the phones could be better trained, but I also recognize that customer service is a common problem in today's culture. Overall I have found Mathis Brothers to be an exceptional furniture dealer that offers a wide selection of furniture in a pleasant shopping atmosphere. read more

The only saving grace is the actual mattress is wonderful. My father and I went to look at a new bed & frame for him and my mom. She was getting out of the hospital from back surgery and they needed a new bed (their original one was ruined in the flood of 2015). Bill the salesman was wonderful. Everything was set up to be delivered on Sat. Delivery guys came and were trying to set up the bed but didn't know how to install the legs, then the motor and remote didn't work. They said the techs would be out that evening or the next day. They lied. :( Called customer service to verify the appointment and was told this never happens. REALLY!! This was a new model--get your peeps some education. I ended up fixing the remote and syncing it to the motor. The store called to see if we liked the purchase. I explained the situation and was told, CONGRATS on fixing the bed but nothing was going to be done to earn back our business. Well, Here goes! My husband bought a pillow, a special pillow at $200. (Yes, I know it said on the receipt that pillows are non-returnable.) Anyway, the pillow smelled horrible, like cheap rubber! The pillow was supposed to be comfortable and cool, and other great and wonderful qualities. After 3 nights the smell did not go away. Because the rubber smell did not go away he took the pillow back to the store and the clerk said that he could not smell anything, of course he just put in a piece of spearmint gum that my husband said he could smell 10 feet away. Clerk suggested that my husband air the pillow out and add softener sheets. We aired pillow out for a week, added bounce sheets however, the rubber smell was still stronger than the bounce sheets. When an item is sold for this amount, I would think that at least a portion of the amount would be refunded. (pillow was used 3 times, ughhh) We have been faithful customers for over 30 years, but no more!!!! The clerk stated he had sold about 3000 pillows and never had a problem. The clerk called the main office and was told the policy was no returns. Could it have just been a "lemon" pillow?? Husband says, don't think so, they probably all smell the same. Long story short, third trip to store, pillow was taken back to the store and given to clerk, with no refund. I purchased an Ashley sectional here approximately two years ago and made the mistake of getting the furniture protection plan. When we picked up the couch one of the employees loading the sofa asked if we got the furniture protection plan and when we said "yes" he said he needed to take it back because it had not been sprayed. I doubt they did it properly because it was still wet when we took it home. The cleaning products that come with it do not work, i used the cleaning service that they provide twice in the last two years and it is a tedious process. You have to make sure you document recent stains and send them a picture of each. The gentleman that is contracted through them is professional and thorough but them customer service representatives are unreasonable. Read the fine print because you are paying a pretty penny to only have them available as soon as you stain or damage your furniture. Since I have small children I should probably just get a leather sofa but it definitely won't be from this store. read more
