BUYER BEWARE!! Mathis Brothers will not refund bed pillows once the plastic is removed. There sales receipt states that for pillows and mattresses. And it is true. We spent $6K+ on Purple mattresses and Purple pillows. One mattress had stitching coming loose and the Dreamlayer pillow ($150 pillow)was so moldy it stunk up the whole house. We tried airing it out for several weeks, it still stunk to high heaven. When I returned it they said it had to be in the original packaging, unopened. If you can smell through the plastic packaging, you're better than I am. They are going to replace the mattress, but it could have been SOL on the mattress also. We have spent thousands of dollars there and are very disappointed in present the customer service. Perhaps it's time for a change. My 78-year-old mother spent over $40,000 furnishing her new home here--living room, bedroom, dining furniture, bar stools, and two rugs. Unfortunately, the experience after the sale has been incredibly frustrating. The first issue was a $7,000 sectional that arrived with the back misaligned and a broken recliner. She returned it and selected another one. Thankfully, she also purchased the stain/damage protection plan on every item. Within two days, her dog had an accident on one of the rugs ($2,000). She followed reasonable cleaning steps, but the stain worsened. A claim was filed on December 3. Communication from the warranty company and cleaning service was extremely slow--calls went unanswered for weeks. A cleaner finally came on December 17 and confirmed the stain could not be removed. Because she was hosting Christmas in her new home, we were told by customer service on Friday, December 19 that the rug replacement would be approved that day and that we could bring the rug back and select a new one. We carefully folded the heavy rug, loaded it into the car, and drove to the store the next day--only to be turned away. We were told: * "You must have spoken to another store" * They had "no control" over the warranty * They had "no place to store the rug" (despite a massive warehouse) The customer service representative was rude and dismissive, to the point that I had to ask her not to speak to me disrespectfully. This was shocking given the amount of money my mother spent. As of December 23, nearly three weeks after filing the claim, the rug is still folded up in her garage. We had to buy a temporary rug elsewhere so she could host her family. That's a sale this store permanently lost--along with any future business from our family. Important warning: when you are sold a protection plan here, the service is handled entirely by a third party that appears to have no urgency or accountability. The store will distance itself from the process, even though they sold the warranty and made the promises. This is not the level of service you expect after spending tens of thousands of dollars--especially for an elderly customer. Very disappointing. read more

I desperately wanted to give Mathis 4 or 5 stars. I had a horrible experience with them several years ago and I wanted to give them a second chance. The buying process and selection went great but that's where it ended. Long story short I had items delivered broken or missing pieces 3x now. I'm on delivery number 4. No communication from Mathis or apology. I was offered $200 gift card to their store for the troubles but i haven't see it in a month. One of my items was returned and I was offered a refund. It's been 5 weeks and I have not received a refund back to my bank well over $1500. No one returns calls, no one cares, I'll never shop here again and I'll encourage others to pass on this place. read more

Within days of delivery, the dye on the fabric started coming off. I contacted them within a week, but since then I've been given the runaround. I've been ghosted multiple times after being told someone would follow up, and I've had to keep chasing them down for answers. I also contacted the insurance company they referred me to -- it's been over 9 days without a single response. The only part of this process that was positive was the delivery crew; they were kind and professional. But overall, I deeply regret this purchase. This adventure hit on Black Friday while we were in T-town picking up another order from another store. We stopped in to see if they had a part for a cabinet we have, and they let us know they did not. But the customer service man was very nice to let us know where we could find the part locally. While my husband was taking care of that, I checked out their Christmas section and did not find what I was looking for until we were on our way out. I spotted the friends of the mansion ornaments and got a set for my home(They had 20,21,22,and 2023's). Now I have to figure out what years I am missing and hunt those years down. This is a tradition in my household that I did with my late mother. We would get our ornaments and then some for gifting. I appreciate Mathis for carrying these and having them priced fairly so that everyone can enjoy them. It made my holiday a bit brighter. read more

We worked with a really personable salesman Rio and had a chance to visit with the super friendly and totally knowledgeable sales floor manager Mr. King, I gave Mr. King the nickname "The King of the floor." Delivery from the factory in Missouri came faster than expected. The two Mathis delivery men were experienced and fast. We made sure all was in perfect order and it was. Someone named Rick S or "owner" continues to respond to our reviews of both Mathis and Ashley and advises our problems with their service and business practices is a misunderstanding and he would be glad to help. The problem is that this sounds good and makes people think they really want to talk to you or refund any of the double charges they made in June when we made quite a large purchase. After 25 attempts to get anyone at Ashley or Mathis to return a call or message, and after having them tell us that " we already received the credits of $799.99 and the double charge for their Rewards Program and the $463.00 for "Elite Delivery" that was "included in our Rewards Program" we still do not. Both attempts to contact Rick S and "owner" produce only a place to write a message on a website, that goes unanswered. Again, we are appalled at their lack of customer service and their business practices. We do not recommend either business. If "owner" or Rick S. do not know who we are and really want to solve this problem they created, then they were welcome to call us at any time during the last 8 weeks. read more

We ordered living furniture and had paid for it. While waiting for a delivery date our sales lady text to let us know there was an error in the price and it was over $900 more. We were not offered any deals just pay the difference. We got a full refund and will never return. The manager didn't even try to do anything for us. The error was clearly their sales ladies fault. I spoke with Stephanie in the Tulsa service department. We purchased two Lazy boy chairs and a sofa two weeks ago. One of the chairs was missing a metal floor part on the leg which a nail on the bottom of the chair scratched my floor. They did not have the number of my chair which meant an old women with arthritis had to tip a heavy chair over to read the tag. Then the women couldn't tell how long it would take for the service people would fix it. I ask if she had an estimate a week, month year and she said no. Very poor. read more

Beware, getting big enough to accept sketchy business practices. I purchased an Ashley recliner from a Tulsa store 11/23/24. Took delivery the same day from the Mathis warehouse, & when I got home the chair was not the same as the one that we had tried in the showroom. Not necessarily defective, but apparently built or internally stuffed very differently from the one on the showroom floor. I went back to the store & requested to do an even exchange with a floor model that was satisfactory and was declined. Knowing the one that I had taken home would never work, I decided to go ahead and do the return, incur a $50 restock fee, and order/pay for a different recliner, that won't be in until Feb '25. I returned the chair, in the original packing carton and in original packing condition to the Tulsa Mathis warehouse on 11/30/24. Reconciling my banking statement 20 days later I noticed that I still had not received a credit to my credit card. I called Mathis sales & discovered that they had completely sold out of this chair that I had returned (12/16) 4 days prior. So here is where I stand on 12/20, I had paid for 2 chairs, had zero chairs, and 1 of the chairs that I had bought and paid for, then returned had been sold to yet someone else. Talk about Mathis using my money to drive their business....interesting business model. I called the customer service number & expressed my dissatisfaction with the way that this transaction had been handled. The first person, Krystal, took my information, & then stated that I should have called the customer service number earlier so that they could release the funds back to my account. I stated that I had a credit memo in hand, (xxx574) and as far as I was told, that was all that I had to do. She then backtracked that and stated that the warehouse should have notified the back office to process the refund... Again, what was the point of the credit memo? I told her that I thought this was an unsavory business practice for a large company to not only keep my money, but then to add insult to injury by charging me a restock fee for an item that I was returning due to it not matching the floor model (plus I had given them an option to even exchange which they initially declined.). According to Krystal, the policy is the policy, and that is basically too bad for the customer. She then passed me off to Hope, who was also made very aware of my dissatisfaction for the way this transaction was being handled, and to no additional avail. They tell me today that I should expect my credit back in the next 10 days (that would make it a full 30days if it takes that long), & then I can hopefully expect my replacement order when initially promised. In the past, I have deliberately guided my business to Mathis Bros, as their online reputation has been much better than one of their smaller competitors on 71st and Memorial. I am not a huge furniture customer, only spending $7600 with Mathis since 2017, (not counting these 2 chairs), but Wow,.... if they are calling this acceptable business practices, this chair, if and when I get it, will be the end of our relationship. I gave both Krystle and Hope ample opportunities to make this right with me, but apparently they would prefer a negative review for their staffs customer service training, than to actually do....customer service. read more

Our furniture was about to be delivered to our old address. We informed the person who called us that we are at a different address, five minutes away from where they tried to deliver our furniture. We were told that we would have to contact the finance company and then contact the Mathis Brothers store where we bought it to reschedule the delivery to our new address. We immediately did what they told us to do and now they said they can't deliver it until Sunday (this happened on a Thursday), even though it was still on the truck and so close to us. Customer service was worthless, and did nothing to help escalate the situation. No empathy, compassion, or ownership. I've bought thousands of dollars' worth of furniture from Mathis over the years, but I'd recommend buying your mattress directly from the manufacturer or from a retailer like Costco. This helps you avoid the Mathis "rewards program," which--based on my experience--feels more like a tactic to lock you into additional spending. Most importantly, you'll have the option of a full refund if things don't work out within 90 days. I originally purchased a Mathis house-brand mattress (Lady Americana), which didn't hold up even a year. Instead of walking away from that initial loss, I let myself be talked into using their warranty program--an exchange that only kicks in after 12 months--to purchase another mattress. Looking back, I wish I had just taken the loss. The salespeople consistently pushed the house brands--especially their most expensive, the Intellibed. When I asked about my original mattress, I was told it was only meant for guest rooms, which was surprising, since the first salesperson had said it was perfect for everyday use. It seems commission incentives may drive those recommendations. While my warranty claim was approved, I had to pay more for the replacement. After just a few months, I like this mattress even less than the first. There are no refunds or exchanges allowed on warranty replacements, so now I'm stuck with another, more expensive mattress I can't use. So, for the COVID review I would give them five stars. All customers are temperature screened upon entry and given a paper bracelet to wear. (But, not sure who was really policing that part.) For furniture selection I give them a three (even though this is the largest furniture store in Tulsa). I was looking for a funky chair and seriously, everything here was either brown or beige or leather. Nothing really unique about anything. There were no galleries as I remember (like Thomasville or other higher end brands). Brown and beige. Now I know that they can special ordering anything and they have designers and they can create whatever we want (as the pesky salesperson kept telling us as he followed us around even though we told him we were just browsing). After 6 months of going back and forth with Kandyce at Mathis Brother's nothing has been done. I just keep getting run around. They agreed that there was extensive damage to the dresser and it arrive with all sorts of putty filler that looks horrible. They can't replace the dresser because the line has been discontinued. They sent someone out to access the damage and he said it was bad but there was nothing he can do to fix it. They offered a 10% refund which is insulting. The bottom line here is they have done nothing and don't even bother to reply to my emails. The drawers are all broken and they said they would repair them, but that was dropped as well. My husband already has taken two dented counter chairs back and we just unboxed the new ones and they are dented too! Then I went to put clothes in the new dresser and two of the drawers are cracked! I messaged the girl we bought them from and she says she will get the dresser replaced for free. My husband is going to go back AGAIN to try to get no dented counter stools. The store looks great, but... We ordered an Ashley Kanwyn Tall Bookcase for a member's price of $444 + tax and delivery/assembly. We could have gotten it directly from Ashley for $399, but we were told that Mathis had it in stock, and we preferred to be able to unload some book boxes in the guest room before a houseguest arrives next week. Delivery would have taken 2-3 weeks with Ashley, so we paid $45 more to get it from Mathis. Mathis delivered last Thursday, and they brought the *wrong* one, so it went back. Between their schedule and ours, today (Monday) was the next delivery date. Mathis said they were sending us a gift card for our inconvenience (don't know how much, don't have it yet). Today was delivery day #2, and guess what? They brought the *same* WRONG bookcase again! I can understand making a mistake the first time, saying, "Something must have been tagged with the wrong number," but why wouldn't a business check that first, before delivering the same wrong item a second time? The woman we spoke with in delivery now thinks the two they have in stock are probably the same two wrong ones that got delivered, and that they probably don't have what we want in stock, which was the reason we paid more for Mathis in the first place. They can't place a photo on the order sheet for the delivery guys; she said she could put a note that our bookcase has a solid back (not open-back with an X, like what they're delivering), but she doesn't know if they would read it. She said they can order one from Oklahoma City (1.5 hours away), but it would take between 1-2 weeks. Who knows if that would be right either? My husband will go to the store tomorrow. I usually check reviews, but I didn't think to do it with Mathis. Should have. Will let you know if they step up to the plate to get this worked out well. read more

Mathis is probably one of the few places in town with a large enough variety of items to make it worth stopping in. That said, you also have to run the gamut of 'furniture sharks' at the front door. Swear to God, they're worse than used car salesmen. I get my hackles up just pulling into the parking lot. That said, they have gotten better at leaving you alone to shop if you tell them to. Still, they're like a shadow... or an annoying puppy.... not necessarily underfoot, but never far away. As for inventory and price, yeah, they're huge, so they have the most selection and reasonable prices. Even the Gallery Furniture which is what we buy is not as good as it use to be. However, my main complaint is Mathis sells you a scam insurance on your furniture, they do not honor their warranty & make stuff up on any claim as not to pay to repair, fix or clean as promise selling you bogus stuff. We spent tens of thousands on rugs & they talked us into spending hundreds more with insurance for spills & accidents. Well we had coffee & wine spelled on a few rugs & they denied the claim after 3rd party came out saying they can not clean it. Mathis Brother is a racket & scam as the company is in no way close to ethics that the founding brothers had (the fathers). I purchased a mattress, frame and headboard from Mathis Brothers in Tulsa on Saturday October 8th. My salesman, Jonathan Waters took my order and processed sales order # 52B156494 and scheduled delivery for Sunday, October 9th. He changed my address in his system and confirmed delivery was possible for Sunday. He said to expect a text or email around noon confirming a two window I should expect to be available for the delivery and setup. Around 1pm Sunday I realized I hadn't gotten any contact from them and called to get an update. The phone system directed me to the Delivery Department. The clerk said according to her paperwork my Sales Order was for a customer pickup. I told her my copy clearly reads Delivery. She said all the trucks were already out for the day and the only option I had was to reschedule. I asked to speak to a manager or my salesman. She said she would email both and to expect a call back shortly. I did not receive a call and after another hour I called Jonathan's cell number. He answered and was surprised about the order saying customer pickup and said some unknown person must have changed the order. He said he would straighten it out and arranged for it to be delivered the following Saturday, October 15th and was told to expect contact from the delivery department the day before to again confirm the two-hour window I would need to be present to accept delivery. On October 14th I received the contact and opened it to confirm but noticed the shipping address was our old address. I immediately called the delivery department again. Upon speaking with the clerk, I was told my salesman should've changed our shipping info when he updated our billing information. And since the trucks ware already loaded according to the shipping info we would have to reschedule again. I said we reside only 15 minutes from the warehouse and wanted an explanation why a special effort couldn't be made to accommodate my schedule. She once again offered to email a store manager and my salesman. And once again no calls were received from either. At that point I called 918-461-7700 and was informed that number is the corporate office in Oklahoma City and before the operator could forward my call, I would have to explain why I wanted to speak to the store manager. After my explanation I was transferred to the Tulsa store. Jack Lowery answered and listened to my story and asked for some details. After he had the info, he asked if I would allow him to investigate to see what could be done. I agreed and he assured me he would call me within an hour. He did. When he called back, he apologized for the multitude of errors and said there was no possible way at that late hour of the day to keep the second promise date since the items were loaded into a full truck ready to go the opposite direction in the morning. However, he assured me if I could be available to accept delivery Sunday, October 16th he would arrange it. In addition, he offered a two hundred credit for all of my trouble. The offer was above my expectations, and I felt good about his appreciation of my business and his consideration of my time. I told him my wife had been ill but as soon as she felt like shopping, we would be back to finish purchasing furniture and a rug for another room. He seemed very accommodating and helpful. I received another confirmation message from the delivery department stating we would need to be available between 3:30 and 5:30pm on Sunday, October 16th to accept delivery. We made sure the room was empty and ready to accept the new furniture. Around noon on Sunday, I received a call from the delivery clerk telling me the truck had mechanical trouble and to expect them later than initially confirmed and that repairs were being made at that time. Around 5:30 I received another call from somebody else in the delivery department saying the truck was so late our furniture would not be delivered again! She offered to reschedule for the following Tuesday. I said due to my work schedule I would not be available until Sunday, October23rd. I asked her to change the delivery to that date but explained I was very put out from all the botched attempts and failed promises. I asked her to transfer me to Mr. Lowery or any other store manager. She said her only contact method with the sales department was email. She said she would send a call back request to our salesman and his manager. Again, I received no calls from either. My wife and I decided to go to the store to get a refund and end our relationship with Mathis Brothers. We arrived in about 10 minutes which seemed like an impossible task for the delivery department to accomplish. I have seen many commercials where Mathis Brothers honors Veterans and their families. I am curious how? You don't offer veterans discounts. What do you do for veterans. I never felt more disgusted than today when the sales manager "D" said that he was giving me something special on 5% off a cash in hand purchase of $1500 on 2 recliners "D" appreciated my visit so much he told me I could pick out cheaper furniture or there were other stores in Tulsa. On 5/22/2022, I ordered two chairs, a loveseat ,a couch, a dining room tabletop and base, 8 chairs and a cabinet along with a furniture protection plan from Mathis Home in Tulsa. On 5/27/2022 the two chairs and loveseat were delivered. The loveseat was damaged. Mathis Home agreed to take the loveseat back and bring a new one when they delivered the sofa. These items were delivered on June 28. No estimated delivery date on the other pieces. In September I contacted the salesperson and she decided to contact OKC for advice as 4 months had passed. Mathis Home delivered the items on September 27. Attached are photos. The table top had hinges hanging so that the leaf can not be locked. There were various scratches and dents in the table top. The cabinet handles were worn. The cabinet hinges were pulled off. The set was used or demo. They agreed to redeliver. The best part is that when they get the furniture in your home that is when you pay for the furniture. So I have used furniture that I paid new prices for even though they agreed it's bad and they need to replace it. They sent a new set on December 27,2022. The delivery crew was high af. That set was also damaged. The cabinet was caved in on the side. The delivery guys banged the cabinet into the existing table and scratched it. The chairs wobbled. Mathis Home agreed that they would replace the items. The delivery truck swept out nails and screws in my driveway and tracked mud all through my house. They delivers again on March 20, 2023. Damaged again. We just refused the delivery. Again they delivered on April 10, 2023. Unusable furniture. We refused the delivery. We have a new delivery scheduled for May 8, but the table top has to be brought from California or Ontario. For 6 deliveries, my husband and I have taken off work 6 days. They have offered to give us 15% off if we accept tThe furniture as is. If I wanted used furniture, I would have gone to Facebook Marketplace instead of Mathis Home.
