Most recently, our younger daughter was initially reluctant to try tutoring. However, after receiving a disappointing grade on an Algebra II test, she decided it was time to get some extra help. She worked incredibly hard and earned a hard-fought C in the first semester. By the end of the second semester, she had achieved an A on her final exam and finished the class with an A overall! The experience has been excellent beyond the academics as well. Scheduling appointments and making changes is simple and hassle-free. Their communication is outstanding--professional, responsive, and easy to work with. Most importantly, the results speak for themselves. Highly recommend!

I had explicitly asked that the tutor help my high schooler with study skills that would help her with all classes, biology in particular. During the first session the tutor just asked my daughter what she wanted to work on. Not having worked with a tutor, she wasn't sure what to ask for, especially as it was the beginning of the semester so she had no homework for biology. They chatted for about 20 minutes, but not about study skills. Then the session was ended early since my daughter didn't have anything else to ask for, even though I had been required to pay for a full session beforehand. Study skills were never discussed. Also the tutor told my daughter that she (the tutor) didn't have much background in biology and was more of a physics tutor. All around disappointing. The owner did follow up with me directly after I complained and asked for a refund. He listened patiently, acknowledged that the requested focus on study skills had been a miss and apologized for the poor experience. His handling of the situation is why I gave a 2 star instead of 1 star.

The process for understanding who your child is, who your family is, what is at the core of the need, and adjusting and checking in along the way are beyond compare. I am an educator, and worked with many tutors and tutoring services over many years, and these folks, with Emily at the mast, really find a unique and effective balance. They have a no nonsense approach, are goal oriented, target with professional skills, and have a human approach. They know how to meet families and kids where they are, wont shy from giving advice, and they really know the landscape of all the different schools in the area, even down to the curriculum expectations; they know students they serve well. This experience of local schools alone is a huge experiential leg up. I am an elementary educator, but they helped me with my two very different high school kids journeys. I am VERY confident they can do it all, K-12! This place is the BEST!

Everyone we worked with -- Ariel, Joel, Mel -- was professional, thoughtful, and connected well with our daughter. They built trust with our teenager, coached her throughout the process (school selection, test prep and essay writing), listened to her and evolved their recommendations as they got to know her. The bottom line: Reduced stress in the process and (we firmly believe) better results in admissions and financial aid offers than our daughter would have achieved without their help.

So my son fell behind and ended up with a C on his math test. I found Mr. Michael Rosenthal and as my son describes it, "the C was the best thing that happened to him, otherwise we wouldn't have found Micheal". Not only he's amazing at what he does, he connects well with kids, he truly cares about their well being also. Words can't express how happy we are to have found Michael. My son has consistently been getting A+ on his tests and finals without putting much effort. He actually understands math now vs. when they didn't have a teacher he got lost. I HIGHLY recommend Michael to anyone who's looking to significantly improve their kids math skills.

Our 8-year-old was experiencing adjustment difficulties following the move and had some incidents involving aggression. After only two weeks, Susan and Art told us that our 5-year-old was "great," but referred to him as "the other one" while saying that our 8-year-old did not belong there. We found this comparison and the way the situation was communicated to be insensitive and unprofessional. We were also told that they were not equipped to support children who act out or do not fit their daycare's approach. Susan stated that they had not experienced this type of behavior from another child in 10 years. Rather than working with us on a transition plan or discussing possible supports, they made it clear that our son could not remain in the program. Our son had been academically successful in Fremont Unified, but he was struggling emotionally with a major move and needed patience, structure, and constructive communication. We understand that every program has limits regarding the behaviors it can safely manage. However, we were very disappointed by the dismissive way our child and family were treated and by the lack of compassion shown during a difficult transition. After only two weeks of enrollment, we now have to find new childcare for both children. Based on our experience, I would urge parents--especially those whose children may need additional behavioral or emotional support--to ask detailed questions about the program's capabilities and approach before enrolling. They conveyed to us that they had limited training, resources, and ability to support children who need additional help, and that their program is better suited only to children who fit within their narrow approach to childcare.
