We just had our assessment at Mathnasium and I am beyond upset. First of all the director of the center is such a pushy salesman. While my daughter was just starting the assessment she kept asking me if I was going to enroll her that same day. I said let's see how she does on the assessment. When I initially talked to her the week before (my daughter not present) I told her she was desperately struggling at school and we needed outside support. Today in front of my daughter she kept mentioning how behind she is and how she could not do simple subtraction concepts. I told her I would like to discuss that when my daughter is not present. She continued to speak to daughters struggle in front of her when I asked her not to! Obviously we're there because she's struggling. My daughter left super defeated and feeling down as she kept mentioning how she could not do the simple concepts. Do not bring your children here if they need help. By far the worst experience!!!!! I'm still in shock of how rude the director was. When I confronted her about this after I sent my daughter to the car she expressed no wrongdoing and thought it was ok to speak badly about how poor my daughter was doing academically in FRONT of her! This place is terrible. First of all the woman who sits up front is less then pleasant. There communication is lack luster at best. We were hoping to get help for my 8 year old grandson. Thank God we did not sign a contract. My initial instincts told me this was probably not going to work out starting with the unpleasant lady that sits in front. All the tutors I ever saw were teenagers. Now don't get me wrong that should have been sufficient for my 3rd grader but unfortunately it was not. According to them they were supposed to spend the first 30 minutes on his homework and the last 30 minutes building on his math skills. While doing his homework they didn't read the instructions so they did it wrong the first time. The next time they never checked his work so he turned in work to school the next day that was mostly not correct. I suggest you do not send your kid here. They do not teach, tutor, correct or behave professionally. read more

I was given a recommendation to check this place out during the pandemic school year, as my kids were in 100% distance learning due to the district. I was aching for my kids to get caught up in math as both fell behind, as well as have personal contact safely with a tutor/instructor. Lexy was patient and explained the program to me and also worked with me to schedule everything. They have been accommodating with schedule changes since we began. The kids are getting caught up with skills they couldn't grasp during the distance learning year. They feel more confident going into the upcoming school year as well. I can't express how grateful we are for finding this center! I highly recommend it if your student is struggling in Math. We had tried all resources offered at the school, such as lunch tutoring with the math teacher and after school tutoring, but to no avail. I've been attending Mathnasium- Chula Vista since October 2020 and I have been able to see a great improvement in my grades. In October of 2019 I reached out to mathnasium for help in my math class. I had no clue what I was in for and was also nervous of working with a one on one instructor not to mean I was failing math with a 47%. However I want to say that this place is the best if you have difficulty in math. I have not only seen tremendous progress in my math grade but have also grown to like math as a subject. Lynn, Archie, Matt, Anna, and the whole team provide a very welcoming environment experience and each operate off of a mutual goal, which is to ensure my success in my IM3 class.
