I agree with HW L. I would give zero stars if I could. My daughter just got back her HSPT score and…read moreMEK was a complete waste of time and money. I have no idea what the MEK practice test was testing for, but it was not in preparation for the actual HSPT. Whatever you do do not base your continued learning on the practice test because it is truly off track. This place is a complete scam. Please know I would not write a review if my child did not put the work in. I witnessed it. Highly disappointed and I can only hope there are better ways to spend $2000 plus to help your child do well on a standardized test.

To all parents who are looking for test prep for their children, stay away from MEK. This place is…read morea money grab. The most important thing is your child will not benefit from their classes. Absolute waste of my child's time and my money. Way more expensive than other test prep places. I signed my child up for a $2600 package believing their pitch during the consultation visit. Zero improvement in the test score (my child is a sophomore and had a 1420 on the assessment SAT test and 10 weeks later is still at the same level). When I met with the director, she essentially blamed my child for not trying hard enough (he is a straight A student). For less cost, Kaplan at least offers teachers with 99th percentile score. The main issue at MEK is their classes are not taught by qualified professionals and run by a husband and wife team who takes advantage of parents who are looking for support for their children. The Operation Director at MEK, who is the co-owner, is a racist toward non-Korean Asians. This place is designed for Korean speaking families only. They are really in the wrong business. This is a business for teaching our children and yet they modeled all the wrong behaviors. The worst experience for a parent. I would give a zero star if it is an option.

This company is a scam!! I applied my daughter for certain amount of classes, but she did not…read morereceive promised support after attending 3 classes. Therefore, we requested a refund by "100% many back guarantee" policy. It's being 4 months since then and we still did not receive our refund, even though we were promised to receive it within a month! They stopped returning my calls and emails... I'm considering filing a lawsuit against these scammers.

Before you read this review, please read more about C2 in TrustPilot as there are more in-depth…read morereviews than on Yelp. First off, paying thousands of dollars for sessions in C2 is 100%, NOT the best way to go about SAT studying, essay writing, or tutoring. Sessions often cost 2 times more than what an above-average tutor would charge, and the sessions are not individualized. Coming into the classroom, students and parents are promised a flexible, individualized method of teaching, that it's different for every person. However, this is just a tactic they employ to sell themselves. All SAT students are handed one of 3 book versions, the blue, yellow, or red book, based on difficulty, but all have the same material and teaching style. In addition, nearly all of the SAT teachers in this facility didn't prioritize timing in their sessions, an integral part of the strategy behind getting a good score. The solution for good SAT studying: The curriculum in C2 comes down to one-course material: a book. Skipping the middle step, not paying thousands for a tutor who does the same thing that any SAT book would do, would not only save you thousands of dollars but your time. In my case, I went to nearly 70 hours of C2 SAT sessions and my score didn't improve until I bought a book off Amazon and started studying by myself (200 point increase). The people up front, Horace, Britany (who has now left), and Arielle, are extremely inconsistent with one another. Horace and Britany are helpful and encouragingly push students, but Arielle contrasts with these two. There were numerous instances where students were used as a scapegoat when it came to studying and essay writing, I will explain one of them here... For the summer and the beginning of the school year, I took essay-writing classes with a couple of teachers. My time was completely wasted in these sessions as on the first day of essay writing, I was pushed aside for nearly the entire time for other students, which occurred in more instances. In addition, when help was finally received, I wrote my personal essay which was labeled as "solid" by the teachers. After my essay was read by the official essay readers in C2, I was told that the entire topic of the essay was cliche, and was recommended to alter it after months of writing. After explaining all of this to one of the advisors up front, I was told that it was the student's fault and not the teacher's. Although it is completely understandable that several drafts of an essay are to be written before it is submitted to applications, the manufacturing of the personal statement should be brainstormed and assisted by a teacher who is proficient in essay writing so that the process is efficient. After all, individuals are paying thousands for these sessions. TLDR: Management is poor, price is poor, and the quality of teachers is poor.
