When we arrived there were no other customers and the two ladies working that day were on us like white on rice the entire time. They followed us around every inch of the store and commented and complimented every item we even so much as laid eyes on. It was Uber annoying so we left empty handed. The sales associates should learn to read the customers and adjust. It was clear we just wanted to browse on our own and their constant barrage of sales tactics drove us right out the door.

A nice courtyard welcomes visitors to come, browse and learn about historic Old Mesilla. And everything reasonably priced. Quite surprising for a small locally owned shop in a tourist area. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and quick to make recommendations for other businesses that might offer a specific item not on offer through the shop. I highly recommend stopping by (they also stay open a little later than many of the local shops in the area so you have extra time to browse for something special!).

Just tell them exactly what you need; have them write it down and take a copy of those instructions with you. Not that I don't trust them. I do. But I have taken nice pieces of jewelry to other places for repair and learned my lesson. If you want a stone tightened and it resized...get the instructions in writing and a timeline for return. I take a photo of what it looks like when I drop it off. I am not paranoid. I am just VERY careful about my jewelry because so much of it is heirloom items. My class ring got all bent up and had to be resized. Inside the ring is my name and I did not want to lose that. I explained all this to them. It came back perfectly sized and reshaped and my name still intact inside. I could not have been happier. I am not in the market for any jewelry so i didn't look at their inventory. Unfortunately, I came down with covid and could not return when they said. Today I was passing by and stopped in thinking it would be best if I made an appointment. Oh no, that is not necessary they tell me, just stop by any time with the jewelry and they will work with me. So I go with the jewelry at 4:30 today as their website says they are open till 5. Austin's associate (José) was attentive and professional and assured me that my ring would be well taken care of and returned to me in perfect condition as I was understandably a little nervous about leaving my ring to get resized by a jeweler other than the original jeweler. Austin's did a wonderful job; my ring was returned in perfect condition and now fits perfectly. I also received my ring back within a reasonable time frame (only 5 days) as I was also concerned that I might have to leave my ring there for 10-14 days. I can't recommend Austin's highly enough. They also seem to have a beautiful selection of unique jewelry, if you're looking for something more than a ring resize.
