When you are her patient, it is not the best time in your life. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and she was recommended to me by my surgeon Dr. Bonefas. I told my BFF who I was seeing. Low and behold, my BFF had taught Dr. Joyner's children. Small world. After meeting her, I could totally see myself hanging out with this woman. Her personality is delightful and she has a great sense of humor. I know you would not think that at a time like this your doctor would be cracking jokes. She wasn't, it was me. My humor kept me going. When it reached a point that I could no longer take the pain to go to work, Dr. Joyner wrote a note so I could work from home. No one needed to hear me moaning and groaning. I really was hoping that I could make it the entire time and be in the office. Yeah not so much. In addition to her being so knowledgeable and kind, her staff is amazing. From the receptionist, her nurse Suzanne, the techs (sorry guys I can only recall one name) Dale and the two gals. Everyone was great. Going to radiation therapy is no walk in the park whatsoever. And Dale was on the money when he said it will get worse before it gets better. Good golly! I called and spoke to Dr. Joyner and she is going to write another note. She made sure I had meds to help with the pain and gave me further instructions on what to slather myself with. It is a journey. If you are looking for an oncologist/radiologist, I cannot imagine anyone in the Houston area any finer than Dr. Joyner. She is a doll and knows her stuff! 1,000 Halley puppies wag their tails and look for the techs and yell "Who's Deanna?" (FYI - I said a line from The Walking Dead each day before I was zapped to signal that I was ready. I tried to keep my sense of humor going even under adverse conditions.)

My…read morefather was a patient of Dr. Campos for two years, he had a successful first line of treatment but once his cancer relapsed (common in MM) everything changed. Dad relapsed around October 2024, the clinic took 3 Months to release his "monthly" lab results, anyone with cancer knowledge knows Time is Gold, we had to chase the clinic on a weekly basis to obtain any type of answer, and during the monthly in person consultations the communication was very vague, almost defensive, extremely unprofessional. Dr Campos had No Plan for a 2nd line of treatment and was clueless about the complications of letting the cancer advance, he had to refer dad to a different Oncologist to start a 2nd line of treatment... by time time, 5 months later after the relapse occurred, it was already too late, he had develop major complication called Hyperammonemia encephalic. I'm writing this so that it doesn't happen to anyone else with a loved one with MM. I'd suggest Dr Lulla at the Methodist or Dr Orlowski at MD Anderson.

We went…read moreto one visit (office) where he told us we would need to start Chemo therapy and do a PET scan. My wife did not feel good about this doctor so we found one that she felt comfortable with. After 1 visit we find out that she is not as bad as we had been led to believe. After bloodwork we find out that Chemo would not have even helped my wife's cancer. So instead of going with Dr. Hude's opinion, we saved my wife the damage of Chemo, had breast conserving surgery and is only going to need 4-6 weeks of radiation treatment. Please be careful and trust your feelings when they are telling you that something. This one guy could have made the rest of my wife's life much worst by predisposing her treatment, however we have a much more effective Oncologist and a much brighter future thanks to his open mind his ability to treat the cancer according to its properties. Not gonna say that money was a factor in any decision but the difference between them is astounding.

Being diagnosed with breast cancer is extremely stressful and traumatic. Dr. Miltenburg was able to clearly explain her approach so that I could understand, and feel confident about her recommended procedure. Her vast experience goes a long way as well. Given my age and other health conditions, I was very reluctant and nervous about doing a double mastectomy. Now that I am on the road to recovery, that was the best decision ever. It takes me to the middle of some god forsaken road and says, 'destination arrived', then I have to go out and put the destination again, shows another 2 min drive and it is still not where I need to be ... not sure why it does that. Care wise, quality wise, like I mentioned, its like coming home to my safe space so yeah I have no complaints, nor bad experiences. ( Touchwood !) Love the little and big gardens scattered all over which is so relaxing and helps divert your concerns and pains for a while. Cafeterias are conveniently located throughout the building and cater to different tastes, though finding the right food u wabt is up to u .. lol... there is no direction map. If you're currently a patient there and when you ask why is this taking so long? And their reply is, we're waiting on the blood bank. That's a straight up lie. I called the blood bank asking if they had a blood shortage. I spoke with the director, and they keep accurate records. She was able to tell me what time my husband's blood and platelets were delivered to what floor and who signed for his blood products. It was delivered 4 hours ago to the wrong floor. I believe this is done on purpose because every single day they blamed the blood bank. I let the director know that mda throws the blood bank under the bus on a daily basis. I have so many incidents that I could share about that place. Also after they kill your loved one or do nothing to help them, there's absolutely nothing you can do. Mda is owned by the state of Texas, you will never see a case brought against them, no court will allow it. So basically they can do what they want and they answer to noone. I suggest you go to Methodist, they have excellent doctors and you receive the care you deserve. Please don't go to mda, they will kill you.

After trying to reach my doctors in Austin immediately after the diagnosis, I couldn't get a hold of my referred to thoracic Surgeon, who, as it turns out, it was in the middle of switching practices. They did finally get a hold of me a couple weeks later, but by that time I had been to MD Anderson and was feeling very confident that was the right move as even my oncologist said Austin medical system has not kept up with the growth! I was very discouraged, but then enter MD Anderson and next thing I know they have appointments set up for me all day long on Friday to meet my new Thoracic Surgeon and oncologist and I felt so much better and relieved. they had set up several tests that day as well so that my traveling back-and-forth between Houston and Austin is minimal. I just had my first chemo session and I'm back home in Austin and I'm very grateful to MD Anderson as I've had nothing but a marvelous experience so far ! They take care of you. They set everything up and you can stay at their on site hotel, The Rotary House, which they make affordable if you're from out of town. I am very pleased and can't say enough good things about MD Anderson!

Today was the third time we have had a difficult time with his appointment being scheduled wrong so we will be looking for a more consistent location with better service and office management. I tried to see if perhaps it was just a fluke, but three times is a pattern. To the management-APPOINTMENTS ARE LIFE AND DEATH FOR OUR FAMILIES!!!!! Its infuriating for the appointments to be treated so flippantly! If you are seeking care, seek elsewhere.
