I will be up front here and say that Matt is a friend of mine from high school. That being said, it was still my wedding and I had high standards (and a limited budget) for a photograher. I sent Matt an email inquiry for my wedding in July, and he responded almost immediately, asking when was a good time to call, and working around my hectic schedule. Not only did he work within our budget, he exceeded ALL expectations we had and was super enthusiastic the entire time. He clearly loves what he does. We set up a date for engagement pictures (outside in Newport), and not only was Matt ready with places for us to go, he was great with spontaneously getting a barber to photobomb (with our approval of course), and stopping traffic to get a good shot! The day of the wedding was rainy and gross (outdoor wedding on the beach) and I was really worried we wouldn't get any good pictures. Again, Matt came up with great places for both us and our bridal party to be potographed, and he even got some really nice shots on the beach. My husband is not a fan of "too posed" shots, and wanted a lot of organic shots to show the flow of our wedding and guests in their "natural" state. Matt went ABOVE and BEYOND. He was so professional that many of our guests praised us for our "great photographer". One friend of ours mentioned she forgot he was there because he was so unobtrusive and another mentioned how bummed she was he didn't photograph her wedding. Both my husband and I were blown away by how fast we got our pictures, and how good they are! We have tons of pictures, and many of them seem to be candid with how comfortable we look. Before leaving for the night, he came to ask if I wanted any other shots and made sure I was happy with the shots we did get. Needless to say, we LOVED having Matt as a photographer and I am recommending him to a friend of mine who is getting married at the same place on the same day next year. Matt & I go way back, we graduated college together in 2006. I never would have thought in a million years we would reunite, not at a bar, or a alumni activity, but rather my wedding! When my husband and I first got engaged in May of 2012 we immediately knew it would be a destination wedding. After doing a ton of research on photographers in Jamaica I was never that pleased with my choices. We are very laid back and simple & wanted that to emulate that in our pictures. The sign of a great photographer, our pictures came out amazing and you would have never know (besides my wet hair) that it had rained. Fast forward 2 years when we are in Jamaica. We were there an entire 2 weeks & not a drop of rain - until my wedding day, which started as an ideal day, blue skies, no wind or humidity, it's about 3:15pm when I am lining up with my girls and dad to walk outside, it began to mist just a bit- it was almost refreshing. I begin to walk down the aisle with my dad, we get to the alter and my dad hands me off - POURING RAIN BEGINS. Anyways, long story short, my pictures are so amazing and I guess practice in the rain makes perfect! Our wedding day was the happiest day of my life and I am so thankful for Matt capturing it the way that he did. My husband and I hired Matt for our wedding in May, and couldn't be happier! We planned our wedding in three short months, and I was so worried about finding a photographer that we liked, was in our price range, and was available. Matt was definitely all three! We had a church wedding in our hometown about 15 miles south of Boston, and then took our couple photos at the Public Gardens before our reception at a restaurant in the city. Matt was so accommodating and traveled with us from the church to my in-laws house to the garden and then the restaurant. So many of our guests were coming up to us during the wedding and after to tell us how much they loved our photographer. We never felt awkward with him at all, and had such a great time taking photos at the public gardens. I think the only regret I have about the wedding is that we didn't hire Matt to be there longer! The pictures he took came out absolutely beautiful - I actually teared up a little looking through the album when we got back from our honeymoon. The turn around time was amazingly fast (about a week!), and I love that we got all of our images on a USB and can print them however we'd like. We're having so many problems picking what pictures to print, because there are so many good ones! Matt was there for about five hours, and we ended up with just about 500 pictures. I can't possibly convey how great Matthew is. I contacted him fairly last minute and lucky for us, he was free on the day of our wedding! Matt spent a lot of time on the phone with me asking all kinds of questions to get a sense of what my husband and I are like and what type of wedding we had envisioned - he is incredibly friendly and easy to talk to and understood exactly what I wanted; I really appreciate the time he took beforehand to get to know us and ensure he captured our personalities in our photos. Matt was on time for our wedding (early, actually - he was the first one to arrive!) He remembered the names of all our family members and put everyone at ease with his easygoing yet professional attitude. My husband and I had a very small ceremony in Rhode Island this past summer... I was really apprehensive about finding a photographer skilled enough to capture such a small event, and I had no connections to photographers in Rhode Island! We were fortunate enough to be connected to Matt. He was able to travel down from Boston and spend the afternoon with us, and we were SO HAPPY with the results! Matthew Jason is the guy to have photographing you're wedding! He was recommended to us by a friend and after seeing her wedding photos we couldn't wait to call him. Every time we talked it felt like we were talking to a friend and when we finally got to meet him for our engagement photos we knew it was a perfect fit! Matthew Jason did our engagement photo shoot on the freezing cold super bowl weekend this year. We met him in Boston in the North End to begin our photos and he was an absolute pleasure from the moment we met. He was creative, made us feel comfortable and really took his time. By far the best thing about my wedding day and overall wedding experience (besides getting married, of course) was Matt. This review is long overdue, given how happy we were with Matt's photos and his manner of doing business. Matt shot our wedding back in August on relatively short notice. He met with us ahead of time for a casual yet professional conversation about our photography plan. He took the evening to get to know us, explained his own style, and was patient with us as we expanded our requests (from ceremony only to ceremony + 2 hours to ceremony + full reception). After the wedding, relatives complimented the photographer more than the music or the food. He was "so friendly" at the reception and unobtrusive at the ceremony. The pictures themselves turned out great and truly captured the day. The turnaround time on prints and the responsiveness for additional finishing was exceptional. We had Matthew take our engagement photos a few weeks ago at the Arboretum in Jamaica Plain. Matt is extremely friendly and immediately made my fiance and I feel comfortable in front of the camera. We walked around the Arboretum for about 2 hours and shot in many different locations. Throughout the process Matt showed us the pictures he had taken, offered ideas for poses, and in general made the whole process extremely fun! Within a few days he sent us a few previews of the photos he was working on. We have since seen all the photos he took of us and they are absolutely gorgeous.
