From the moment we met them, S + D were so easy to work with--genuinely fun, kind, and made us feel completely comfortable. I really appreciated how organized they were, even drafting a very clear (and beautiful! ) photo timeline before hand which took so much stress away knowing we had a clear plan to capture the photos we wanted on our special day. We decided to opt-out of a first look and to do a "first touch instead" and they were completely supportive and on board for the challenge. We had limited time to take photos after the ceremony but they were so efficient and got the best shots in a short amount of time! The short version: working with The Hendrys was the BEST experience and made our elopement so special and I highly recommend them!! Longer version: Totally obsessed with everything about our experience with The Hendrys, from our communications to our actual elopement shoot to our finished photos. The price we paid ($4,200 FYI, but I'm sure that fluctuates based on area, their demand, etc.) was an absolute steal for what we got (4 hours of coverage they very graciously extended to 6!! to capture our vision even though they had to drive all the way back home after, plus more photos than we were promised, quicker delivery than we were promised, and an all around amazing time). I like traditional wedding photos , but my fiancé (wait, WIFE) and I really wanted something ~different~ than what we always see. We had already decided to run off to the desert (Joshua Tree) to elope and have a less conventional ceremony, and we wanted our photos to have that crazy, surreal Mojave desert vibe. I had done a lot of searching and had almost given up when I stumbled across The Hendrys Instagram it was so perfect, I couldn't believe it. We sent an inquiry and they replied promptly and with so much information. That's one thing I really loved about this experience - they were so organized and on top of things and it really made you feel secure. We put a deposit and then paid the remaining balance before our elopement. The day of, they arrived right on time, even though they had driven in and their car had overheated on the way (desert in summer -- very smart pick on our part lol), which means that they must have left early with plenty of time to make sure they would arrive on time. Apart from being super professional, Sarah and Darren were also just tons of fun to be around - we connected with them immediately and laughed the whole time and felt so comfortable. One thing I loved is that they thought of all the details I would never have thought of. I didn't have to give them a detailed list of all the things that I wanted pictures of - which is good because I didn't know - but through our conversations, they picked up on what was important to us and just observed what looked really cool around the property. They immediately realized our pets are super important to us (and identified with that because their bunnies are super important to them too!) so we have numerous pictures of our dog, Winter, who was our maid of honor, and my keepsakes honoring my angel soul dog that we will treasure forever. Even little details like my wife's softball cufflinks were not missed. I'm typically a control freak and a perfectionist so I had a million thoughts buzzing around before the day about what I wanted to be captured -- but when the day came I just trusted them, didn't have to direct a thing, and received photos that blew my mind. It was a total dream to just be able to relax and feel pretty and have fun:) True to their style, we didn't just get all the pictures we wanted, we got all the pictures we wanted WITH their incredible spin on them. They are true artists and did a ton of experimenting to get so many cool shots. We've already gotten photo albums and large format prints printed of their work for our home and could not feel more grateful. If you're considering using them to photograph your event, I cannot recommend them enough. Just book them!! I hope we get to work together again. We're actually rating The Hendrys one trillion stars out of five because they are "out of this world" amazing photographers and you should stop reading this review and book them ASAP! If you're still reading though, let us break down our perfect experience with them: They were recommended to us by our venue (Valentine DTLA) and we fell in LOVE with them as soon as we saw their website! Their portfolio and "about me" won us over because we were looking for wedding photographers who could capture the in-between moments, do some fun stylized shots, and be just as fun and goofy as we are! We reached out over the website and heard back from them immediately over email. Their super funny, yet professional personality came through and that got us so excited to work with them! They were also open to us asking as many questions as we wanted (especially when it came to the contract), which made us feel even more comfortable! We then got to meet them over ZOOM where we broke down how the day would go, they asked us what kind of pictures we were looking for, and we just got to know each other. We honestly may have become best friends with them as we couldn't stop talking to them about everything and anything for 2+ hours. After that, we knew we were gonna be in the best hands, but we could never have ever imagined how perfect they really would be! When it finally came to the wedding day, The Hendrys went above and beyond! They were extremely professional as they kept us on schedule while experimenting with different types of photos (using a Fish Eye Lens, prisms, neon lights, etc.). They knew how to make everything feel super relaxed and fun and just let us do whatever was natural to us no matter what kind of photo it was. While we were losing it over the fact we just got married, The Hendrys just let us take everything in while politely directing us for photos. When we weren't doing staged photos, they were out of sight, but taking stunning photographs of everything that was happening in between. They were like ninjas as they would disappear and then reappear and grab us for the next shoot! It really was so cool! A few weeks after the wedding, we received our photos in record time and they were the COOLEST PHOTOS EVER (which you can see attached to this review)! We cannot thank The Hendrys enough for their hilarious stories, non-stop professionalism, unwavering kindness & selflessness, and being true magicians with their cameras and artistic vision. I would give The Hendrys 100 stars if possible! I contacted The Hendrys in 2019 for an engagement photo shoot to happen a little before my wedding on 10/10/2020. And then the pandemic happened. As there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding my wedding and ultimately the photoshoot as well, The Hendrys were both so communicative, empathetic, and just so human. We ended up literally doing the photoshoot last week! 1.5 years after I originally messaged them. Originally, I had planned on doing an edgy city photoshoot in the city, but as I was not able to do my traditional Korean ceremony as part of my wedding (as was originally planned, but had to nix because of covid), we changed it so that we would do my hanbok photoshoot with them. Normally for a hanbok photoshoot, you go with a photographer is really familiar with the style. I still wanted The Hendrys to do it and through just a few emails back and forth, we identified a way to make it really beautiful, fitting, and everything I dreamed of. AND IT WAS! Our photoshoot was so fun to do! Both Hendrys are so funny and easy going. At the same time, they were so incredibly professional and I just KNEW I was in good hands. Wow is an understatement. I was so unbelievably lucky to have stumbled upon The Hendrys' work when I decided on a whim that I no longer wanted to do a huge wedding and instead to have a guestless elopement. I immediately fell in love with their work. Beautifully crafted images and also incredibly creative. Once I convinced my now husband we should invest in our photographers, we somehow actually got SO MUCH MORE. The Hendrys helped us 'figure out' practically everything for our elopement. Amazing! I really wish they planned events because I would hire them for everything. Sarah + Darren were the kindest, most responsive, helpful, and patient vendors we hired for our wedding. Majority of the photos were candids, as they only gave 8 requested posed photos with our family/wedding party. Absolute delight! The Hendrys captured our wedding beautifully! We were very particular about the look/aesthetic we wanted from our photographs, and when we were referred to the Hendrys, one look at their portfolio sealed the deal! We first met them for our engagement photoshoot, and they could not have been any kinder! The Hendrys shot my wedding at Millwick in April and they were such a delight! Our photos all came out so PERFECT and I'm so glad to have found photographers that meshed so well with the vibe we were going for! Their eye for a good shot/good lighting is spot on and we loved that they're not the kind of wedding photographers who just take a bunch of posed shots with every single family member combination you could think of. If we could give The Hendrys more than five stars we would. We were beyond thrilled with the work they did on our Yosemite elopement. Planning a wedding during Covid was a struggle and very stressful. Even on the other side of the country The Hendrys supported us in putting together our perfect day. They were responsive, helpful and knowledgeable. I had a million questions and they got back to me quickly, detailed and thoughtfully every time. They were there for us through it all and even helped us find vendors outside of photo. When the weekend came they were prepared even as we navigated last minute changes to the schedule. They we kind and fun to work with, and you could really sense the care and pride they took in their job and their process. They were fun and light hearted, yet also extremely professional and skilled. We felt like we could relax and trust they were capturing our precious moments. I did not worry all day, my husband and I just got to have fun and be present. The climbed a mountain with us and back down in the dark to get us to the most amazing ceremony spot!!! Sarah held our jackets while taking photos during our hike. We laughed and had so much fun the entire time even though we just met. When we got the photos back we were STUNNED. They captured emotion so flawlessly. It was important to me that pictures were candid, emotional, high quality and artistic. I did not want posed or unoriginal photos I've seen 100x before. They delivered on every front. The most consistent feedback we got from our family and friends was 1) that these were some of the best wedding photos they'd ever seen 2) they felt they could sense the love and connection we shared through the photos and 3) that they were stunning, breath taking and seriously beautiful. This meant a lot to use considering our family and friends were not able to be there due to Covid. These photos allowed our loved ones to experience our wedding in such a lovely way.
