The tear had begun four years prior and was not diagnosed during an MRI at another doctors' office when I was living in Boston. Dr. Hohn was extremely competent in handling the diagnosis and performing my surgery. Following an MRI to confirm our suspicions that my meniscus was blocking my knee, Dr. Hohn talked me through my options and the potential outcomes of surgery. Worst case scenario: he couldn't fix it and the torn tissue would be removed. Best case scenario: the tear could be mended and I'd have better function in the future. Fortunately, Dr. Hohn was able to repair the tear! I'm 3 months out from surgery now and am feeling great. The knee feels very stable, and my only limitations are from the remaining muscle atrophy. I highly recommend Dr. Hohn. While I am not an MD, I am a PhD in biology, and I can say from my interactions with him that this doctor has a firm grasp on the most modern methods and research in orthopedic surgery. That said, his demeanor can be a bit academic and reserved, so he may be off-putting to some people (see the previous review). If you know the right questions to ask, Dr. Hohn has the knowledge and patience to help you understand your particular situation.

This is a small facility, with one large entry space where exercises are taught and practiced by the patient prior to treatment by a specialist in one's individual needs in one of 4-5 private rooms. Exercises and treatments are tailored to those individual needs. Both my own treatments and my wife's were referred by our primary care docs and covered by Medicare. The facility is very conversant with what's covered and how to submit for payment. We never had any sort of issue with this, never any out of pocket, based on our Standard Medicare with a good AARP supplemental policy.

His colleague thankfully gave me the name of an orthopedic surgeon from Golden State Medical Group in Capitola. Each time you see a doctor it takes a month to get an appointment, This Dr. took an x'ray. In a month he scheduled me for hip replacement surgery. He also did the anterior approach with is a much quicker recovery than the posterior approach which Dr. Christoffersen performs. Its been four months and I am back at Zumba with little pain. I am thankful to have been sent to this doctor by his colleague. I really felt like Dr. Christophersen had no sympathy for my pain. He could have taken another x-ray and seen it was deteriorating.
