I bought Matts Cookies many years ago. They were moist and had generous, plump, raisins in them. My Dad loved them, too - but when he passed away, I started making my own. Matt's Cookies are absolutely delicious. I purchased the limited edition pumpkin spice cookies at Safeway for my grandson who loves pumpkin everything. I found the packaging a very easy to open and handy resealable package. They recommend microwaving for five seconds to soften up the cookie. It works great. It's softens the cookie warms it up a perfect amount. Safeway ran out of the cookies and I ordered another package on Amazon. I highly recommend these cookies. read more

I saw these and against my better judgement (neither ingredients nor company info nor expiration date listed on the package) I tried them. Others here nailed the description - mealy, crumbly, like eating flour, etc. One reviewer mentioned they were gluten free - maybe that's it. Wow! I'm in love with these cookies!! I saw these at my local Food Lion and the packaging first caught my eye. It reminded me of "home baked". Sure enough, "tastes like homemade" and "all natural" sealed the deal. I got the Fig Bars first and gave a pack to my mama. She gave two thumbs up and I guarantee there's none left at her house . Well, there's none left at my house either, so ... The fig bars are so soft and not too sweet and when you get them, get two packages: one to share and one to hide for yourself . I went and got two more packages of Matt's Cookies today and got the Oatmeal Raisin and another pack of Fig Bars. I would've gotten the Peanut Butter and the Chocolate Chip ones but both of those had sold out already! I got home and opened the Oatmeal Raisin. Yummmmm!!! Again, not to sweet but flavorful, raisins were soft and fresh. I popped them in the microwave for about 6-7 seconds (adjust depending on your microwave), grab some milk, and enjoy. To be honest, they taste better to me warmed a bit. I like comfort food, so warming a bit gives that "just baked" flavor and texture. Now if I could just get my hands on the other flavors... First of all, I asked my husband when the package expired because it looks NOTHING like the original cookie. First impression: color is way off, looks stale, crumbly and even has a gray cast? Sorry, Matt's the quality and quantity of your product is now a disappointment. What you guys are missing is that eating Matt's Cookies was an experience. The cookies were supposed to stick together and be peeled apart, that's what made them so great. The product looks like an investment bank owns the company and has tried to squeeze every penny. Regarding the fig bars, they used to be 28 ounces and now they are packaged 10 ounces for the same price. Plus the packaging has flared out edges to make it appear there are more cookies in the package than reality. Whoever came up with this new packaging scheme and pricing strategy can also claim responsibility for seriously impacting the value of your brand and lowering expectations of consumers. read more

When my son was small and in BoyScouts, we approached Matt's cookies to ask if the small group of boys could have a tour of the Wheeling facility. I was told by the owner that he "didn't like kids" and therefore, refused to allow a tour. Enough said about the owner. Draw your own conclusions. I used to love Matt's cookies. Years ago, they were moist and delicious and worth the high price. Now, the package size has shrunk considerably (as has the size of the actual cookie) and the taste of the cookies is in the garbage. I've been eating Matt's cookies for years and whenever I've wanted to drop off something special, it would be Matt's chocolate chip cookies. I dropped them off at nurses's stations in hospitals, visits to friends etc. A couple of days ago, I purchased a package and was shocked. 25% reductions in weight and the cookies weren't nice and thick and seemed drier. I would have be accepting of a price increase to add the probable necessary profit margin for the company. Whoever made the decision to downgrade the cookie certainly made a mistake. I was first attracted to Matt's cookies because of the name. My nephew has the same name and happens to be an incredible cook. After reading the ingredients...you can actually pronounce and recognize all of them...I thought it was worth a try. Sold! If you want a cookie that is as good as, if not better, than one you would make at home you should give these a try.
