I was so happy to come across this local gem and obviously I was in the right place for donuts because the people just keep coming by the twos and threes lol. The donuts were fresh and moist and plump and the icing and glazes were thick and evenly distributed over the dough. No wild gimmicks- just smiles from behind the counter and donuts that don't look like they're about to die. The only critique I have is that the flavors are a little more distinct. I always make a point of trying out new donut shops when traveling and today brought me to Wheeling donuts. Walked in to a couple display cases worth of donuts ranging from sprinkles to coconut varieties and decided on a half dozen. The construction of their donut is more traditional with most of the normal varieties being offered, good moist cake, and minimal frosting. My first time here. Was in the area & craving a donut & trusty yelp lead me here. Food: Dounuts delicious. Got the yeast with chocolate icing & the French cruller. The only thing I didn't like was that the chocolate icing is just sugar, no chocolate & the icing on the cruller were both too sweet. However, I am mostly sugar free on the weekdays so perhaps it's just me. Regardless, I will be back to try another variety without the icing on it. Service: Great. Everything you want in your local donut shop-nice people, great prices and great donuts. A plus for my nut allergic daughter is that none of their donuts had nuts. I've had plenty of Wheeling Donuts' donuts over the past two years, and they're really good. They're heavy, thick, over-sized and sugary sweet. They use top notch ingredients, you'll be able to taste the chocolate, the red velvet (taste a bit like chocolate), the blueberry, etc. My favorites are the Old Fashioned, the buttermilk (same as the OF, just a different shape), red velvet, the coconut (not so much), the chocolate Bavarian (the cream filling has a nice consistency). The Old Fashioned and Buttermilk donuts also tend to last longer without getting stale. I cut my donuts into quarters and eat one over the course of four days. These two remain consistently good over that time frame. I haven't seen any information on calories per donut, I'll ask for that when I visit the store. read more

This is a classic doughnut shop! I have been in search of a place offering the classic style of doughnuts. Nothing extravagant, just great eats! Wheeling has been on my test list for months. I am so glad I tried it. They are made just like the old days. Raised cinnamon rolls, apple fritters with a crusty outside and a buttery interior. Blueberry cake doughnuts packed full of flavor. Ensuring the flavors are there without being overpoweringly sweet. I ate a lot of these doughnuts in the day that I had them. A family owned donut shop with great traditional donuts. If you want bacon in your donut, this isn't the place. But, if you like any of the fiftee (I will call them) traditional donuts, you will love them. Made fresh every morning, these are not your chain store donuts. Stopped by shortly after they opened first thing in the morning to pick up a few donuts for the family. They were already stocked for the day with donuts ranging from classic, buttermilk, boston creme, red velvet and more. The staff was super friendly and made great recommendations on different flavors to try. My favorite was the buttermilk one because it was glazed on the outside and the perfect amount of crunch to cake on the inside. Also.. $8 for a half dozen? Does it get better than that?? When your son don't want you to get donuts for him but wants you to drive him to the store and get it himself... it's clearly a sign that they have very good donuts. I have a sweet tooth and being a good baker as a hobby, I seek out good bakeries. Having to drive up to Wheeling for baseball this winter, thanks to my fellow Yelpers this is one donut bakery you don't want to miss. We been there a few times now and while we have our favorites, they are all really good, meaning soft inside, crisp outside as it's just pulled out of the kitchen, fresh, and taste good. These are simply not dry and do not feel like it's been sitting out there for 24 hours, like some donut places. They bake everything fresh daily, very early morning. People preorder by boxes and love them. Check out the pics I took, we even had a tasting test one visit and it was so fun. We were just so happy! We have some favorites and is hard to deviate to try the others, as there are so many. We'll be back again to try the others We truly love the buttermilk, French cruller, old fashioned, sugar twist donut, cinnamon rolls, chocolate cake. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of them... One of the local businesses I recommend supporting. Was able get a pretty good variety with my dozen for the family. A dozen with tax is only about $11 and change, while franchises like Stan's, Do-Rite, etc are at least triple the price. It's Hispanic owned. The staff are friendly and patient as well as you decide on what you want. Contact ahead to see what latest flavors they have available via phone or Instagram. They also have doughnut holes available as well. Compared to most other doughnut shops, the doughnuts are lighter and not as overly sweet. My first visit and the lady is very nice and helpful once you walk in. They have a great assortment of donuts, which are huge! It smelled amazing, there was no line, and I bought an array: glazed, chocolate long john, apple cider, red velvet, and more for around $8 plus a cinnamon roll for about $2 & change. These are delish donuts, especially the apple cider one, which I've been wanting from a bakery. They're sweet and could be a meal since they're big. I sampled some over a couple of days, which they kept their fresh taste. The cinnamon roll is gigantic and tasty. I'll definitely return to this hott local spot and bring more people. We passed by here and picked up donuts for dessert after having just picked up a carryout lunch.  The place has a bit of a worn down strip mall look, but the donuts here are cheap and decent ($1 apiece and $9.89 per dozen).  They run a no-frills business and that's just fine by us.  They had a pretty good selection at 1pm on a Tuesday also.  Wife picked up a French cruller and a pretty big apple fritter for $1.89.  I'm not an apple fritter expert like Park Ridge Yelper David R. but it looked pretty big and good to me.  It subsequently tasted ok but I can't say it was tip-top fresh.  Not bad though! read more

God himself has blessed these donuts. They have the most sublime donuts. The sweetness is EXACTLY where it needs to be. The texture is so good it drives me to madness. I ate four in a row and didn't even feel sick, a record for me. It was incredible. Every bite of every flavor is like being told some really good news. I've had these donuts a couple times in the past and they are always so good. I had to write this review to support one of my favorite local businesses! I got the old fashioned and buttermilk donuts, and the apple fritter. Here's the rundown: the old fashioned is a no-brainer great all around donut - not too heavy, great amount of sweetness, not too oily. The buttermilk donut is a heavy-hitter -it's indulgent, sweet, and more oily and heavy than the old fashioned, but not bad. You just can't eat as much of it without feeling sick. The apple fritter was also good, but not as good as the other two. The fritter was a bit firm, and sweet. Did not have big chunks of apple, which maybe would have made it a little better. All in all, this place is on another level. Totally different playing field than dunkin donuts, and their prices are super reasonable! About $1 for each of the donuts. read more

Local small business, friendly owner it's a win! Donuts are $0.90 each, with a half dozen at $5.98 after tax. A dozen is slightly less than $10. Larger items like the cinnamon roll and the Apple fritter are $1.79. I think the shop is good at the cake donuts, especially enjoyed the red velvet and the blueberry. Variety on the day I went was somewhat sparse at 6:40am already (must be really popular as it's open at 5am). There must have been a rush early that morning. There was a steady stream of customers around that time. Not really a place to hang out and eat, but definitely a pick up spot. The owner is really friendly, and gave me a bite of donut hole which was absolutely delicious. I usually like the yeast donuts and this time I was not inclined to get a yeast because the cake style was so good. My wife loved the old fashioned and the cake style red velvet and blueberry. My 3 yr old loved every bite. I like my usual crueller which was quite satisfying. I have found my default donut shop. read more

Delicious, freshly made donuts, what else could you ask for? This place is jumping off on the weekend. To the point that when we got there at maybe 9:30 they were nearly out of hot fresh delicious donuts. We had a couple of glazed chocolates, an apple fritter, a raspberry jelly, and a chocolate longjohn, and they were all melt in your mouth amazing. My only gripes are that they have two doors, one on each side of the store, and people only use the left-hand side one. During the pandemic, when we're all waiting in socially distanced lines outside in the parking lot, the exiters should be exiting out the opposite door from the people entering but no one seems to think about that. Also, there is almost no chocolate flavor (cocoa, is it) in the chocolate donuts. Still delicious, just not very chocolate-y All in all, I highly recommend Wheeling Donuts, just know you have to get there kinda early if you want the good stuff, though it seems like they keep making the fresh donuts throughout the day so, take my caution with a grain of salt. read more
