We didn't have an appointment, but barber found time for my husband. It's hard to satisfy my husbands taste but Mills did a great job with his beard. He was really delicate. I have frequented this barbershop several times without an issue. Today, unfortunately was a different story. I booked an appointment on their app to ensure when I arrive that I can get my haircut as scheduled. My time is valuable as I still work the corporate grind. Upon arriving I was asked if I had an appointment, after answering yes and with who I was told that the person had an emergency and left earlier in the day. I am a reasonable person, I get it, things happen. However, I made my appointment at 1:18 and it was accepted. I took time out of my demanding corporate work schedule to drive 25 minutes one way just to be told that the barber their app selected for me leave earlier in the day and no one was available until the next day. This type of response and lack of consideration I do have a problem with. So, I would not recommend this barbershop, and if you do elect to utilize their services proceed with caution if you're in a hurry. They actually have a no cancellation policy, meaning you the customer can cancel but you still owe them the $35 for a haircut. I was reimbursed, but my time is valuable and they certainly could have informed me that the barber would not be available and request I reschedule before going out of my way to be turned away. I may be 1 person, but I will not step foot in their shop again, and will not recommend their services to others in the area. read more

Vinny was great. Moved to North Port recently and my first try at finding a good barber was, well, not so good. Stay away from Jay. Lost a long-time customer from the business and will never be back. I gave him specific direction on exactly what I wanted yet he did not do it at all. Not only was it a a bad haircut, but a sloppy one too - once I got home I had to recut around my ears as he left spots of long hair there. This is pretty notable around a fade. On top of all of this I told it how much I disliked the haircut and he couldn't seem to be bothered. His only response was "Did you pay online?" to make sure he got paid. This by far one of the best barbers I've been too. I've been coming to him for the last two years. He believes in perfection and customer service. I always leave his barbershop looking good and a happy customer. I've drove from Miami to Venice to just get a hair cut from him. The prices are good and the barber shop looks very clean and nice. I used this barber in the past and had great results and experiences. However, when I showed up this time, the business had changed locations ( back of same building to front of building). Website says they are open at 10am and they do razor fades. I am an active duty Marine, showed up at 0945 to be one of the first in line and to my surprise they were not only open, but every chair filled (great for business). I was created as I walked in, I asked if they did walk ins, they said they did and a bearded fellow came over to tell me he had an appointment at 1000 but same client was a no show previous week and was an auto populated appt. if after 15 min., he would take me. I let him know I was looking for a razor fade, he said he doesn't do them and wasn't sure if anyone else there did, but either way, they were totally booked. I get that they may be a successful business, but update your website so it is accurate for those that are not regulars. It appears the business is under new ownership, good luck. read more

This is a great barbershop with great customer service, but this review is mostly for barber named David. He is seriously the BEST! He cuts my husband's hair and my husband's hair isn't easy to cut (this is is coming from a hairdresser) he takes his time to make sure there isn't a single hair sticking out of place. We recently moved to Venice and have been looking for a true barber. I found Mature Image to be an honest, real barber shop. On my first visit, I was double booked (unusual from what I saw) and 10 seconds behind the other gentlemen. They were extremely nice and I had no problem relaxing for a bit. The patron before me was there for a head shave. I was impressed by the amount of time taken to ensure a great job. It was no 5 minute and thank you job. When it was my turn, my barber (I unfortunately did not get his name) was nice, asked what I wanted, and undertook my balding head of hair. He was as meticulous with my cut as he was with the other patron. Conversation was relaxed, and he stopped multiple times to ensure he was on the right track. When it came time to pay, the cost was very fair, he apologized for the double booking and lowered the price. I appreciated the genuine gesture but could not accept it as his work was exceptional. I will be back and am glad to have found my barber shop! I recommend Mature Image to all. read more
