Instead I asked that he remove extra fabric from above the ruffles. He removed the extra fabric as I requested but then sewed an entirely new visible seam right through the middle of each pant leg! I don't know why he couldn't have sewn the ruffle panels and new seam as one to make it less noticeable. When I brought this to the attention of the owner, she was quite rude and repeated over and over again about the way he sewed the pants, as if I couldn't see it for myself. She even said that I must not know anything about sewing (which I actually do) otherwise I should just do it myself. She failed to even listen to me and comprehend the way I had requested and suggested the seam be sewn. She never apologized for the misunderstanding or way in which the sewing had been done. Thank goodness I only paid $15c but now I have seams in my pant legs they hadn't been there before and didn't want at all. This was a very disappointing experience. I will be using a different seamstress from now on.

That alone made it clear this is an under-the-table operation. When I came to pick up the dresses, she didn't offer a fitting -- which is extremely unusual for any reputable alteration service. It felt like she was rushing me out the door, and once I got home, I realized why: the second dress hadn't been altered at all, and the first was completely botched.
