Dr. Cecilia Harrington is excellent! After trying to get a Primary Care doctor for months, she was "chosen" for me. She is very personable, listens, has a sense of humor (this is important in medicine when you get older, haha). She is also very patient. A big plus is that she is in an office in Kihei. My former PCP seemed "nice enough" but was not really personable, and then she left Maui Medical after I saw her one time! read more

Maui Medical Group Kihei is the ABSOLUTE WORST Drs office!! My moms PCP (I won't mention HER name/even though I have ZERO RESPECT FOR HER) was suppose to send a referral for a Gastroenterologist in Honolulu, but this Dr NEVER closed her file so the referral NEVER got sent to the GI in Honolulu, cause you can't send a referral if the patient file isn't closed by the Dr, said the nurse who works at scheduling. She gave me her cell and she told me, "only call me once or else I won't answer/respond " she never returned my call! Even after several visits to the office, still NOTHING! They are the absolute WORST!! On Tuesday I took my mom (87 yr old, and very frail) to this office for a physician referral to get Rehab services for her at Hale Makua, this form needs to be FAXED over to HM by Drs office. Thursday morning, I call Hale Makua to check on status of the Drs FAX and guess what??? NO FAX HAS BEEN SENT! The lady at Hale Makua shifted through quite a few papers, so that just put my mom farther down the list!! What takes so long to fax 1 piece of paper??? I'm sure it got lost with the her referral for GI which was supposed to be done in May! The Dr told us that she had a patient waiting since Dec for Hale Makua, I'm wondering if she even sent it back in December for that patient?!!! read more

Aloha Zero confidence and zero satisfaction! I give this review with all due respect. I have been treated at the Kihei clinic of Maui medical group for years. In this time there have had 5 to 6 different doctor changes because of the doctors length of stay at Maui medical group, for whatever reason. Each time I've had to begin a new relationship with each doctor hoping with confidence that my care will continue on the correct path. Recently my new doctor whose name I would be happy to share but will not out of respect, is the worst that I've ever had in my life. My confidence and satisfaction is completely at zero and I can't emphasize that fact enough. This doctors office has sent me for blood tests with the prescription that doesn't even match what I'm therefore, they have ignored Humana pharmacy for weeks on end when they are trying to get my prescriptions approved for delivery, they have build my motor vehicle accident account when I'm there for a blood pressure check, and they have mismanaged many other things from that location. My suggestion is to save yourself the trouble and continue looking for another Clinic. Maui Medical group as a whole deserves respect during these Difficult times, but never at the cost of their patients confidence or care. Very unsatisfied and would never recommend them to friends or family because of the way I have been treated. read more

So happy to have Maui Medical group here in Kihei! The staff is always professional and welcoming. They take the time to explain what is going on and what my options are. The only problem I have had here is that the turnover of doctors is rather rapid. They have a new doctor now and I hope that she stays for a good long time! read more

Misdiagnosed severe pneumonia. The older German female Dr. told my partner that he was suffering from a nasty virus. Came back 3 days later and she again said the same. I pressed her to tell me how she can be so sure and she lied to me telling me that she sent his sample to the lab. She went on about how the over-prescribing of antibiotics leads to antibiotic-resistant illnesses and would not prescribe it to my parter. I knew something was very wrong so the next day I took him elsewhere. One X-Ray and 15 minutes later the Dr is pointing out severe pneumonia in his left lung and how he had a 50/50 shot of surviving the following week. Gave him the strongest antibiotics he had, and he started to feel better 6 days into the treatment. She definitely made our trip to Maui "memorable". I would go elsewhere if you are hoping not to die on your holiday to Maui. read more

Run as fast as you can and find another medical facility; They don't deserve any stars. This is the third time I have had a bad experience at MMG and 3 strikes your out! I had a total knee replacement on Oahu, which is a workman's comp case. I was to follow up with my primary here in Maui ( with many changes, my latest primary is Tanya Takatani) for her to check the incision and make sure everything was going well. I made the appointment for Friday, Dec 10th. at 1:30. I check in at the front desk and the clerk ( Sherry) asked for my ins card and ID. I explained this is WC but gave her my ID. She didn't bother to look up at me to speak to me with some form of respect, just handed my ID back and said Tonya does not see WC. as she's a PA. I explained that she's been seeing me right along and even cleared me for the surgery. Sherry got on the phone with no other explanation, and after standing a while my knee began to throb so I said i was going to sit.Twice I ask, can I go up now and she said NO. After about 30 more minutes she says, OK go up. I get up to the third floor and say sorry, your front desk held me up. ( now I am only 2 weeks post op and using a walker) Do you know what the problem is ? The woman behind the desk, asked me to sit down and told me Tonya was with another patient and she will explain the problem. A few minutes later, another woman comes out, no idea her position, but tells me I can not be seen because I WAS SO LATE! Are you kidding me, I was held up at your front desk. My son was waiting for me outside, and I quickly text him to come up. I ask WHY? and she says because Tanya is running behind and can not see you as you were late. I try to explain the front desk held me up and she didn't want to hear it, just said sorry, Tonya can't see you. After a back and forth, I lose it emotionally , I am now crying as my son arrives. Whats going on he asks. The same woman gives us the same answer, Tonya can not see me because she is running behind and I was so late, SERIOUSLY? your people held me up on first floor. Next a man they identified as Eric the patient Advocate enters, and they are all whispering in the corner. My son demands an explanation , and we get the same response. Eric just stood there while two women were whispering in his ear. I had an appointment, my incision needed to be checked, and bottom line no matter what we said, they would not let me see Tonya.It wouldn't have taken more than couple minutes to check the incision. In my opinion they should have figured a way to have someone check me, what if there was a problem, they took an awful chance on liability . At this point my son said. shame on you all, shame on you, we live in Kihei , it took a lot to get her here she's in pain and this is how you treat her, shame on you. He said lets go Mom. In all my years, I have NEVER been treated so rudely , and with lack of respect. I do not believe the reason she wouldn't see me had anything to do with time, because Sherry, at the front desk let it slip when she said a PA does not see workman's comp. It is my belief someone made a mistake and instead of owning it, and trying to fix it, have another physician check me just to make sure my knee was OK, but don't send me away. And lets not forget Tonya cleared me "twice" for surgery and checked my blood work and EKG. read more

My parents and my husband all have Dr. MacIntyre chosen as their Primary Care Physician. She has a great office and wonderful staff here as well. On top of that, a very inviting waiting area with a good assortment of reads, as well as a large Lego and Little Tyke play area for children as well. My parents are hard to impress when it comes to a PCP, so for them to recommend a Dr. when my husband had a bad staph infection after a day in the rain forest gone wrong, we opted to see Dr. MacIntyre. Of course, Murphy's law would have that his insurance for HI hadn't fully kicked in. Not to worry, because with the one time fee for everything, it covered the "umbrella" of services my hubby needed. Including 5 office visits, anesthesia to help drain the infection as well as all the tools, time and effort to get him on the road to recovery. Dr. MacIntyre turned what would've been a doubly painful process (treatment and fees) into an experience that renewed my husband's faith in Western medicine. Though I am sure that it helped Dr. Mac is such a witty conversationalist too :) Call ahead for an appt. though same days are also not that hard to come by in case of urgency. read more

Rude receptionist!!! Not helpful nor friendly at all. She needs to remember people are not feeling well and her cocky comments make matters worse. Medical attention is so so there. Good luck trying to get an appointment.... waiting on the phone forever and being transferred here and there. I can't stand Maui Medical Group. As "unluck" would have it, I wound up in need of a doctor during my vacation. This review will not do this clinic and Dr Helen Rempel any justice, as I'm at a loss for words for just how wonderful everyone was! My scuba shop requested I seek a medical check up before continuing to dive. I encountered a problem. Good call. Nothing serious but I was prescribed pills and nasal spray for an irritated ear membrane. Green light to keep diving. From the check-in as a new patient, to having an aid check my stats (blood pressure, oxygen, etc), to having Dr Rempel listen and check me out, everything was fantastic. She was so incredibly thorough and spent a lot of time with me. I have never received such amazing care, attention, and treatment in any clinic or hospital back home in Canada. This is the clinic you need to go to if you run into trouble! read more

Came here during our vacation because my boyfriend developed a sudden rash that spread quickly in a few hours. We mentioned that we were visitors to Maui to the receptionist and explained the situation. She checked with the doctor to see if we could squeeze into her schedule and luckily we were seen within 15 min. Dr. McIntyre is really great. She was friendly and calm. She provided a quick diagnosis, gave us a prescription and we were on our way! I would definitely recommend walking-in to see her if you have a sudden issue while on vacation. Note: the clinic is open half-days on Saturdays and not open on Sunday's. read more

I have had experiences with several doctors at Maui Medical Group. AVOID this medical group at all costs. It takes months to get an appointment. Most of the time you do not see a medical doctor only their assistant that cannot refill or prescribe medications. You will need to keep calling and wait on hold for a long period of time before your call is answered. I was referred to several different doctors to refill a prescription for my medical condition. This went on for 4 months before I decided to seek out another doctor. Don't even waste your time with their patient advocate, Eric Gaddy. He is there to placate you and do nothing about your complaints. They refused to refill my medication and kept passing me around from doctor to doctor but were very happy to bill me. They are overwhelmed and have no empathy for their patients. DO NOT use this medical group. My condition worsened while dealing with these doctors. read more

My experience with Dr. Lana Wilkinson was absolutely wonderful. I went to see Dr. Wilkinson for a breast biopsy after seeing another doctor on Maui that gave me bad vibes. Dr. Wilkinson and her staff were comforting, kind and patient. Their bedside manner was completely reassuring and I felt safe to go ahead with the procedure. The facility and the equipment were great specifically the machine used was more advanced than other offices offered. During the procedure I felt no pain due to the marvelous ability of Dr. Wilkinson to administer the correct amount and type of anesthetics. Even after the procedure, the discomfort was minor. I was mentally ready for much more pain based on other people's experiences with other doctors. Mine was a breeze, no pain and minor bruising. I would recommend Lana Wilkinson to anyone that needs a breast biopsy. read more

Very impressed with everyone in this facility. The receptionist, the nurse, and the doctor were first rate and very kind and helpful. This is almost a must-see in Maui! I went in for an earache and sore throat, while on vacation. I was treated with respect, kindness, curiosity, and timeliness. I wish I could duplicate it and take it home. I went in to see Dr. Stoner because i heard good things about her knowledge of the heart and I have been having a heart issue for almost a month and a half with out it getting any better so I wanted a 2nd opinion and maybe a name of a good cardiologist so I setup an appointment with Dr.Stoner just to see what she thinks and to see if she thinks i have a good Cardiologist. Day 1: Get to Maui Medical Group Kihei on time, the receptionist whos name is Toni has no people skills and basically was like "are you sick? (no) then why are you here?" so after explaining why we were here she finally checks us in and we take a seat. We end up waiting almost 1 hour before a nurse calls my name, she puts me into the waiting room where my boyfriend and I wait for another 30 min just for the nurse (who is awesome by the way) comes back in and tells us "the Dr doesn't have your records so were going to send you home and have you come back later this week after she has time to review your records" which was irritating because we just wasted 2 hours of our day that could have easily been told when we first got there, so we ask that if they don't get my records before the next appointment that they call and let us know so we don't have to waste a day, the nurse agreed that she would, we setup an appointment and leave. Day 2: 3 days after our first visit we go back to our appointment we go back in, we check in, sit down, and wait ANOTHER hour & 15 min before the nurse called us, she puts us in a room and we wait another 30 min before a nurse comes into the room and informed us that they had just received the medical records from my Cardiologist and that she needs time to read it so shes going to help the patient after us then be right with us, so they take us back to the waiting room, we waited another 30 min, (while we were waiting we overheard the receptionist call a patient and talk to them like they are 5 years old saying "I told you that you couldn't get another refill so you asked another nurse and guess what the answer is still no" after the call she comes out and gives me a piece of paper with 2 names of cardiologist on it and says "this is all you wanted right" and I tell her "NO I want to talk to Dr Stoner!" then she tells us that the Dr wont be taking us today because shes not a cardiologist. At this point my boyfriend says "so you're telling me we waited 2 hours for a piece of paper that could have been emailed to us?! which she shrugs off and gives us a half assed sorry. I informed her again that I just want to talk to Dr Stoner and get her advice and she tells me that Dr stoner told her that Her superior said she cant help us and then when I told her that I just want to talk and then the receptionist tells me "she left for lunch so shes not even here for you to talk to her" that was my last straw, I broke down so frustrated that i wasted another day on something that could have been told to me over the phone and the Dr wont even take 5 mins to talk to me! while i'm crying at the office the receptionist gave me a box of tissues and said I could keep it but I have to go because they are closing for lunch. Just really bad people skills and she should not be behind a desk talking to other people and the fact that the Dr didn't even talk to me for 1 min after i was there for over 2 hours is really unprofessional as well, instead she sneaks out the back so she can leave! That was the first and the last time I will ever go to another Maui Medical Group, I've only heard nothing but bad things about that place after I talked to some people. read more

Helen Remple is the absolute BEST! She has treated myself and my son many times and I consider her to be the most wonderful asset to Maui Medical Group and the island of Maui as a whole. I cannot say enough great things about this woman. She is brilliant at what she does and is just an exquisite human being. Truly head and shoulders above the rest. Also, the nurse Debbie is a sweet heart too. I am so grateful for their care! read more
