THE STORY: I was having a nice lunch (ramen, of course) with my mom in the mall at the corner of Hana & Dairy. You know, the one with the super busy lot and tight parking stalls? I parked in the parallel stalls on the side of Mac Net. As I'm walking back to my car, I can see that there's something wrong with my rear passenger door. Turns out it was dented and bulged out in 3 separate areas in a vertical line though there was no paint damage (thankfully.) Long story short, the security guard told me he witnessed a shopping cart hit my door, supposedly pushed by the wind from where it was parked up on the sidewalk by Mac Net. There was some weight in the cart as he reported the Kmart wagon as being full of "food." The suspect ran off while the guard was trying to locate me, like a needle in a haystack. I wasn't expecting to get any reimbursement out of someone pushing a shopping cart full of food from across the highway with a little child in tow. Pissed? Of course. Was it accidental? I'm sure. You're forgiven. THE SEARCH: I posted pics of my frustration on Facebook & Instagram naturally. It's good to share problems with friends because there's always a diamond in the rough out there. A good friend posted a pic of a business card in the comments, leading to a business called Maui PDR and the name of Juan Cervantes and his number. After asking around and comparing names in the local auto body industry, his name ALWAYS came up as a positive and highly recommended response. THE SOLUTION: I called him up that very day, and he simply said to call him in the morning of the day I wanted to come in, which was in a week. Fast forward a week, and we set up a time in the afternoon. I thought there is no way he can make my door smooth like new. It's crinkled and dented for crying out loud!? He access the damaged area through the middle of the door jamb where that rubber hose covering is and through the bottom under the rubber weather seal. In about an hour and a half, prodding with long skinny metal bars and pounding with what looked like a pointy piece of chalk like a nail to a hammer, the door is like brand spanking new. 99.9% of it came out. Why not 100%? The bottom area of the door that was pretty severely dented apparently has a soft metal which refuses to completely smooth out. The mark is so faint that I really didn't want to mention it here, but I don't want to write a BS review either. Even Juan said that he can still see it and tried his hardest to smooth it, but honestly, unless you bend over, go up close and look at it in good lighting and at an angle, that's the only way you'd be able to see it (if you look at my "after" pics, you cannot see it.) But the section that was crinkled and dented is as smooth as a baby's behind! Even with all that hammering, there was no damage to the paint or clear coat. I am totally happy, ecstatic, stunned, and really amazed by his work. He is the dent MASTER!!!! PRICE: I paid $170. So much better than paying my $500 deductible with my insurance company! LOCATION: The shop is in the Central Maui Baseyard in lot #27. There are tiny address numbers affixed to most of the fencing. There's no visible sign for his place but as soon as you turn onto Nakii Road, it's the 3rd or 4th lot on the right side, across the street from Duck Soup and Maui Garage Doors. His website's location map is way off. TIP: No credit cards but he accepts personal checks and of course cash. OVERALL: The best in the biz, very talented & skilled, and great pricing. The experience I had with Maui PDR....absolutely outstanding! Yelp message at night for appointment to estimate paint job on my wife Lexus SUV. Ten minutes later I got response from Juan and said; "Bring it by tomorrow." Took Lexus the next day...Juan took a look and would email me estimate by EOD. At the same time I asked Juan how much would it take to fix 2 door dents on my Silverado that annoyed me the last 6 months. Juan said; "Bring Silverado by tomorrow I will take a look and will give you hard copy of estimate for Lexus. Next day took my Silverado...it took Juan 15 minutes to fix both dents...WOW! I got my Lexus estimate and drove away happy with my dent free Silverado...and I almost forgot, price was very reasonable. Service is first class...communication and integrity all the way! After taking my car over to Maui PDR, I got a quote from Juan which was very reasonable for a small ding in my front / left quarter panel. Juan was able to get my car done the next day without a long wait and was very meticulous in getting the ding out and buffing out the paint transfer. He paid a lot of attention in getting the ding out and after he was done, I couldn't even tell that it was there to begin with. Juan is a magician!! My Honda Accord got up close and personal with a gate recently. It wasn't damaged very badly and after cleaning off the yellow paint transfer all that was left was a scuff mark on the bottom of the bumper and a baseball sized dent on the fender. So I had a very sharp dent on my car and had an appointment for this morning. I was told on my arrival that the staff who was supposed to take care of my car is having a family emergency, not being able to show up, and asked me if I can reschedule it. I was in Maui for a week and on the second day with the rental, I discovered a new dent that was about the size of a fist on the fender just over my left rear tire. There were no scratches, so I assumed that somebody must have leaned on the car with a phone in their pocket, leaving a dent in the process. Knowing that the rental company would charge me an arm and a leg, I sought to get the dent fixed myself. If I could give them seven stars I would. Weeks ago I hit a little spot and ripped the front bumper off my 2002 Lexus SC 430. It is an aftermarket fiberglass bumper and other body shops did not want to touch it. A friend told me about PDR so I drove in with the bumper. Just two weeks ago my wife was backing up her car and pushed in the bumper .
